My first impression about Dr. Boyce was "WOW" "what a good looking Dr. but is he good at this surgery."But when i met him at my first visit I knew then this is the Dr. i want .Him and all his staff are very personable and very nice they treat you like youare their family. He is very strict about aftercare anly because he wants what is best for you but with all of the compliments they give you it really makes you want to work harder and show them that you can do it. He did tell me about the risks of the surgery but also emphasized the risks of not have the surgery and in the end the surgery was the best road to take.Over all i would rate Dr.Boyce as being the best Baratric Dr. ever i would recomend him to anyone and every one who asks.
Dr Boyce, Is a very confident Doctor.
Which made me feel confortable right off. He gives you adequate time to ask questions. I didn't feel the least bit rushed with him. I feel He loves a challenge. Knowing that Dr Boyce has done over 230 surgerys makes me feel that I have truly chosen a surgeon with the experties to do my somewhat complicated surgery. The only negative area is I think a patient should have a second time to meet with Dr Boyce before going into surgery, to go over the final operative study and conclusions of the prior examination. blood work, x-rays, upper GI, etc.
Dr. Boyce is an extremely nice man. I have only had 2 visits with him. He made me feel very at ease about the surgery. I have had 2 friends that have also had surgery preformed by Dr. Boyce. They also have only good things to say about him. The staff is wonderful. They make you feel like you are a person and not just another number on their list. They are extremely involved in the aftercare of the surgery. They give you a 24 hr. number to call and you will get a person and not a recording.I would rate Dr. Boyce and his staff a 9/10. Only because no one is perfect here on earth.
Before I first saw Dr. Boyce at one of his WLS seminars, I had heard from other people who had other types of surgery by him that he was an excellant surgeon. I had gone to other WLS surgery seminars in other cities and was considering going to Nashville for my surgery, however when I attended Dr. Boyce's seminar, I got such a good first impression from him and his staff that I decided to have him do my surgery.
My first visit with Dr. Boyce was very thorough and he spent a lot of time with me answering questions. Even though he has a $3,000 fee for post op aftercare, I think it will be well worth the extra money for a 24 hour RN hotline, and a nutritionist and exercise person on staff. His aftercare program is very structured and I feel very confident in him and his staff.
Dr. Boyce is patient and caring. He has excellent bedside manner and is friendly. Nothing worse than a snobby surgeon who does not seem to care about his patients! Dr. Boyce is very cautious and does so many little steps to ensure a patient's recovery. There is a lot of testing before surgery, drainage tubes and testing after surgery. One must move arms and legs and ankles and such every fifteen minutes while in bed post op to avoid blood clots. He thinks of everything and has learned from mistakes of other surgeons and perhaps less fortunate patients in other places. It's not just him - it is an entire program and a whole team of professionals to help you along the way. You can speak to any of them at any time about anything. All concerns were addressed. He's very open and honest. He gets a 10!
I like Dr. Boyce a lot. He made me feel very comfortable and was not like the usual arrogant surgeons one can run across. Dr. Boyce likes to err on the side of caution which makes me comfortable. The aftercare has been great so far. It's only been a couple weeks so I'll update the further I get into my journey.
Good impression, had heard he was very good.
kept good impression over time
Office team is excellent. Most helpful and open.
did not have a least like.
Honest, stright forward with surgeon get the job done. He is effecient and covers all bases.
The aftercare IS the most important of course with WLS. We are able to lose weight, but not able to manage keeping it off. So aftercare comes right in there after good surgery.
Yes, structured program with pre care and classes on nutriation and excerise. Johnny and Kelly have been most helpful.
Sat in first consultation and addressed the risk, we also had printed material. And reading everything before hand that one can get hands on about the surgery, even before stepping foot in the office.
I think he is excellent surgeon. I sure have had no problems, came through surgery in an hour and very good recovery due to care at Parkwest.
I really think surgical competence (or my faith in the competence) is most important. Bedside manner, just did not see that much of the surgeon except in prep and a visit before leaving. This has to be expected with busy doctor. On my first follow up I got all questions answered by all concerned. Eugene also is an added plus in this office.
I had nothing negative to say due to this, at my age of 63, being my my second surgical experience and both were excellent. My only other was in a hospital staffed with nuns and THAT was a wonderful experience. This one was equally good all around. Even supplied us with LARGE gowns to wrap around and save our diginity!
