I loved the man! I was very comfortable with him and his staff. The staff at DePaul were wonderful as well.

My first impression of Dr. De La Torre was that he is very confident of what he is doing. His office staff is great especially his nurse Nancy, she is the greatest!!! He does address the risks of this surgery very well, he makes sure that you understand them. His staff emphasizes aftercare very well.

He and his assistance Dr Johansson were very professional - I was impressed with Dr. de la Torre. His credentials are impressive. He and his partner Dr. Scott have done over 2000 gastric bypass surgeries with very good success and the majority of patients have had a very good success rate.
I feel comfortable putting my "life" in his hands because I believe he is one of the best in the country.
Nancy, who coordinates with your insurance company, well actually runs the place, she is extremely knowledgeable and will spend as much time as you need to discuss anything pertaining to the surgery with her.
They do have a structured aftercare program in place which I plan to take full advantage. The risks were described in detail to all of us at our all day class. Dr de la Torre went over risks during this time.
Bob surgical competence and I anticipate bedside manner will both be great.

First impression was good because I set the date. The office staff is five stars. I spent the whole day first in a group then on a one to one. The covered everything and stayed till all the questions were answered and added some they felt we should have asked. Afercare is emphasized a lot, I know his staff will be there they were there for people the day I was there. People that had already gone through the surgery. I can't rate him overall till after I have the surgery. As for which I think is most important between surgical or bed side. Surgical is the most important, if I have a problem at the bedside give me a nurse she'll help.

My first impression of Dr. de la Torre was that he looked very young. He was very thorough in addressing the risks of having bariatric surgery. He and his staff were wonderful and still are! Nancy has become one of my favorite people. She is so kind and answered all my questions. Aftercare is emphasized very heavily. It is their intention to not only give the "tool" for weight loss, but how to utilize that tool for maximum benefits and success. They offer weight loss surgery group meetings and highly recommend that each patient attend at least three monthly aftercare support groups at their facilty. On a scale of 0-10 (0-the least, 10-the most) he and his office staff rate an 11. I was totally confident in his God-given skills as a surgeon. I had no problems or worries about his competence or his ability to perform surgery on me. The whole experience was a positive one for both, my husband and I. We were well-informed and comfortable with Dr. de la Torre and his staff. I would highly recommend his services to anyone wanting this surgery.

My first impression of Dr. DeLaTorre was that he was very good looking, professional, and informative. His office staff is very helpful. They have a set regiment in place for before and after surgury and they will not make exceptions. I do believe our health is their number one priority.

Dr. De La Torre exudes confidence. You can tell that he's one of the best. He is upfront about not being a hand holder. He's busy and it's either hold your hand or make himself available to someone else who is desperate for his services. I can do without the bedside manner as long as he's the brilliant surgeon that he'd reported to be.

He is very upfront about the risks. He doesn't sugercoat anything. You have to go into this process with eyes wide openned.

I liked Dr.De La Torre immediately. Some posts made him sound arrogant and distant, but I found him confident and much younger and more handsome than I would have thought. Everything he said during the consult was accurate for the surgery. I had no complications and eould highly refer him to anyone.

I just had my pre-op with Nancy and Dr. De La Torre. NANCY WAS AWESOME! She gave it like it was and went throught he surgery step by step. Dr. De La Torre is a surgeon... what I mean is that I didn't think his "bedside manner was lacking" but he seemed to lack that people quality that Nancy has perfected... but that was to be expected. I wasn't bothered by it one bit. He seemed very caring and concerned (although I was the first one back). He asked a few questions and off I went to schedule a date.

I am a bit concerned that I am in KC and this surgery is in St. Louis. He mentioned that people come far and wide to get this surgery, yet they INSISTED that I come back for a 4 week visit. I have just taken 2 weeks off work and now i have to take more time off just for that? Won't a phone call do??? OH well, I guess they know what they are doing!

I am in GREAT hands!
