He was a very nice but busy man. I liked that he has a staff of very caring and concerned people working for him. Alma and Sady were on top of most everything. They took the time to let me know what was going on. And they were always available for questions. He really has all aspects of pre-op through post-op covered by his staff. He did stop by to say hello before the surgery and I saw him the day after surgery too. Otherwise his staff did an excellent job of taking care of me.
The guest house is comfortable and quiet except for the dogs, there were 4 puppies. He has an odd cousin that lives in the back of the house. I only saw him when he wanted some bottled water. So a little intrigue made the time fun.
It is best if you have a English/Spanish dictionary handy. Many people do not speak english, including and especially the nurses.
After care is not much of an issue with them. They provided me with limited instructions. But in my case that hasnt been a problem yet.
Dr. Sanchez is a very skilled surgeon and his surgery staff seemed very capable. I was nervous because I knew so little about the anestist. But he did a wonderful job and I had no complications.
I will be going to Dr. Vitello in Chicago for my fills. If I dont come up with any problems everything will be fine. If I do, I'll have to return to Mexico for help. I think that going my route is for people who will have to pay for the surgery themselves and are in reasonably good health. I would not send my Mother there with all of her health problems. But my sister is going in November. I feel confident that she will do well.
I met Dr. Sanchez at the Texas Bandster Bash in Galveston April 2004. I had already chosen him as my surgeon based on his experience with the AGB. After meeting him, I knew I had made an excellent choice. Not only is he a superb surgeon, he is a genuine person that is in medicine to help people.
His US patient cordinators were very, helpful, (www.ready4achange.com) answering question after question, never tiring of the parade of phone calls I made to them. Messages were returned promptly. I am now 5 months post op, and anytime I have a question, Dr. Sanchez and his staff are only a phone call away.
I highly recommend Dr. Sanchez and his team and rate him as a 10 out of 10.
Any questions I can answer for you, I would be happy to. I'll share my experience with anyone.

I like Dr. Sanchez immediately. He was very nice, answered any queations that I had. I have not seen him since my surgery. I cannot afford to fly that far for fills so get them done closer to home. His staff was okay. I flew out of state for my surgery due to costs. The after care was okay, I m sure that it would have been better had I been closer. They called me often. I would rate him a 7 in over all.
The only complaint I had was that when they closed all those little holes they could have sone a better job, more neatly. THe surgeon fill list was out dated.
I really liked Dr. Sanchez from the moment that I met him. He was very straight forward and answered all of my questions in a way that was easy to understand.
Overall, the staff was wonderful. Their initial point of contact for U.S. patients, AnnMarie, seems a bit scattered and doesn't quite have everything together in my opinion - but other than that she is very friendly and was able to get everything started for me to begin this great journey. As for the staff in Monterrey, I was very well taken care of from the moment that I arrived in Monterrey. Alex (the driver) was the first person that I met when he was waiting to pick me up at the airport - he is a fun and wonderful person. Next I met Alma (Public Relations), she is absolutely unforgettable - she is easy to talk to, extreamly knowledgable and a fun person to be around. Then there is Annabel, Dr. Sanchez's surgical assistant - She was right there with me before, during and after the surgery providing the emotional support and encouraging words that I really needed at those time.
On a scale of 1 to 10, I would have to give Dr. Sanchez and his staff at least a 9 or better. I don't have any other major surgery experiences to compare this with, but I was very impressed and I am happy with my results.
I have nothing but positive things to say about Dr. Sanchez. I am a Nursing student and the care that I received at the hospital was top notch. I was able to watch the video of my surgery and I have to say that Dr. Sanchez's skill as a surgeon is impressive.
The hotel was great, the staff of Dr. Sanchez were all very friendly and informative, and I would recommend this surgeon to anyone. Dr. Sanchez will take the time to answer any and all questions that you may have and he has an excellent bedside manner- very gregarious and affectionate.
I don't know what "NL" means on the listing, the Sanchez who performed my surgery was in Monterrey Mexico and was excellent. He did myself, my son, and sister (a physician) the same day and we had no problems, received excellent post-operative care. What I liked was the various choices of types of lapbands, the great number of successful procedures of this surgical team, and the low cost since I had to assume I would be selfpay. BC/BS federal would not approve or disapprove WLS before surgery here in the US. I have filed an international claim for reimbursement but have received no response. There is limited aftercare but not much is necessary besides support which is available on the internet and physicans to do fills. They trained my sister to do fills and are developing a network of fill docs in the US to provide this support. If you are close to them, which we are not, fills are free.
My first impression was he was nice,he still is nice if I am to phone him.The office staff was not exactly what I expected professionally. Specially being in another Country it was vey scary anyway. As far the Doctor he was very polite. There was not enough time to get to know them but I think thats sometimes what your expecting for a Doctor. My lap band Surgery was a pretty diffcult proceedure as far as the healing but Doc was still very good about answering my Questions. I feel everyone expects that both Surgical & manners or both a facter in the healing procees.
