I actually got my first impression of Dr. Stahl from the message boards here. I read about him and new that this was the doctor that I wanted. When I met him in person, I knew instantly that I made a great decision. He's very friendly...and he takes the time to answer any and every question you can come up with. He really put me at ease with his knowledge and honesty. Over time, my impression of him has only gotten better and better. Dr. Stahl's office staff is incredibly nice and extremely fast about getting paper work sent in. I was approved for surgery in about 2 weeks. <big smile> There isn't anything at all I didn't like about Dr. Stahl. Future patients should know to bring all questions with them, because he'll definitely answer them. He strongly emphasizes aftercare. Dr Stahl was very upfront about the risks of surgery...he said that just because the 10 people before you went well doesn't mean that you will. Everyone is different. Overall, I think Dr. Stahl is an excellent doctor and I'm so thankful that I was led to him. Of course I think surgical competence is better, but dr. stahl has both competence and an excellent bedside manner.
I liked Dr. Stahl from the start. He's not "touchy feely" which is what I like. Very to the point and didn't try to sugar coat the results of this surgery. I loved the office staff, especially Suzy. She had I became fast friends. They worst problem is how popular this practice is and how much waiting time you have to spend. They docs really are overwhelmed with patients, which I guess is a good thing, but that makes their time in the office limited.
They really need to boost up their aftercare at Shelby. I don't think they have much support from the hospital, therefore any "extras" are at their own discretion and on their on time. I worked with the nutritionist and received a diet for after surgery, but I had looked up many things myself on the web and really self educated myself.
Dr. Stahl really stressed the risks of surgery. I never thought for a minute it was "routine", and he made sure of that.
I did have complications, but I knew from the start that could happen.
I would rate Dr. Stahl a 10 for competence surgically and maybe a 6 for bedside manner. He seems shy, and I am a bit outspoken, so I probably scared him.
I met Dr.Stahl yesterday and he is wonderful, he spent about an hour talking to me and my husband about the risk the advantages and so forth. I really like him he is kind. He told me that I would be able to have mine done Lap. so I was glad about that. Everybody in his office was so nice, I know I have heard different accounts of people getting bad treatment but I only have good things to say about Dr.Stahl.
I liked Dr. Stahl when I met him. He was up front with me about everything and my surgery went as he had explained it to me. I did fine during surgery and have done great since then. He didn't give much info after the surgery or maybe it was me,, I had researched everything so much that i new what was to be expected and what to do so i guess i can't blame that on him. Not having any complication I haven't seem him but once since my surgery,I see his nurse every 3 months and am schedules to see Dr.Stahl next month for 1 year check up. His nurses have been very good and hav answered any question i have put to them.I would use Dr. Stahl again if need be.
MY FIRST IMPRESSION OF DR RICHARD STAHL WAS THAT HE WAS A COMPASSIONATE UNDERSTANDING MAN,BUT IVE BEEN INFORMED BY HIS STAFF THAT I AM NOT WORTHY OF HAVING THIS SURGERY,MY LIFE IS NOT AS IMPORTANT AS SOMEONE WHO HAS NOT SOUGHT HELP FOR EMOTIONAL PROBLEMS. I DO NOT DESERVE HELP FOR BEING OBESE,I AM NOT GOOD ENOUGH TO HAVE THIS SURGERY,IT IS JUST BETTER OFF THAT ANYONE WITH MENTAL HEALTH ISSUES JUST DIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I LOVED DR. STAHL FROM THE START. HE IS A VERY GOOD CHRISTIAN MAN AND HIS SURGICAL TEAM IS RANKED #1 IN THE SOUTHEAST FOR THIS TYPE SURGERY ( THE MAIN REASON I CHOSE HIM).
THE OFFICE STAFF WAS VERY GOOD ALSO. NO PROBLEMS. MY FAMILY REALLY LOVED THE WAY THAT HE CALLED TO THE WAITING ROOM EVERY HOUR AND LET THEM KNOW HOW THINGS WERE PROGRESSING, AND WHEN THE OTHER PROBLEM WAS FOUND, HE GOT THE GYNECOLOGIST (DR. HEAD) IN THEY HAD A SOLUTION BEFORE THEY EVER SAW MY FAMILY. THEY WERE VERY CONFIDENT AND IT PUT MY FAMILY AT EASE. BEFORE YOU GO TO SEE HIM THE FIRST TIME YOU HAVE ALREADY READ AND FILLED OUT A BOOKLET ABOUT THE RISKS. THEN HE SITS AND LETS YOU ASK ALL THE QUESTIONS YOU WANT. I RATE HIM AS A 15 ON A SCALE OF 10. HE HAS BOTH A GREAT BEDSIDE MANNER AND SURGICAL COMPETENCE. THE ONLY THING HE COULD DO BETTER IS MORE AFTER CARE FOR THOSE WHO NEED IT. SINCE I HAVEN'T BEEN SICK AT ALL I HAVEN'T NEEDED IT BUT I AM SURE THERE ARE THOSE WHO DO.
Dr. Stahl is a caring man who wants to help everyone that comes to him. He listens to his patients. I have the utmost respect for him.
The staff at Cahaba Valley Surgical is caring and friendly. They want to help and are kept very busy with all of the new patients that are coming for surgery. Bariatric surgery isn't all that they do. They are very good surgeons for all types of surgery.
I trust Dr. Stahl with any surgery that I may need. I give Dr. Stahl the most excellently superior rating as a dr. and a surgeon.
I had my first visit with Dr. Stahl today and I found him to be very informative and to the point. His office staff was very helpful and polite. I was about 30 minutes early for my appointment( it was scheduled for 1:00 p.m.) I went straight to the front desk, I was asked for my insurance card and driver's license and was told to have a seat. I was waiting maybe 10 minutes and then I was called into the back where I was weighed and my height was checked. After this I was put straight into a room and Dr. Stahl came in about 3 minutes later. He examined me and told me about the procedure, he gave me the pros and cons and then he asked if I had any questions. I was then directed to the payment counter which took only a minute or two and the insurance clerk told me that she would be giving me a call next week to schedule my surgery. All in all it was a very pleasant visit and I was in and out of the office by 1:05 p.m.
