Ravindra Mailapur Bariatric Surgeon M.D.,F.A.C.S.

I have felt Dr.Mailapur is a very good Physician Who truly cares for His Patients. His standards of care are top of the line. My Son Who has also ad surgery, was very impressed with Dr. Mailapur and My Husband was very impressed with Him also.

Dr. Mailapur did gallbladder surgery on My Daughter 1 month later and has had a very good recovery.

Dr. Mailapur is very straight forward with His Patients and lets You know what to expect and how to care for Yourself and how to eat for optimal weight loss and health.

My first impression of dr. Mailapur is excellent.
My impression of him never change. what I liked best about him was his all around presence. I think future patients should know that they are in good hands. he emphazizesd that I should really take care of myself. he does have a stuctured after care program for me. he adressed the risks to me even death. I would rate my dr. on acale from 1 to 10 a perfect 10. I think both surgical competence and bedside manner are both important.

When I first met with Dr. Mailapur I was very nervous about doing the procedure,but after talking with him and his nurse I became more comfortable about my decision that I had made. Dr. Mailapur is a very kind and compasionate doctor, he is not afraid to take the time to sit down and explain all of the risk and benifits to having the RNY bypass done.
The thing that really empressed me the most is the compasion he showed my family by making sure that all of their questions and concerns were taking care of. Dr. Mailapur's office staff is wonderful,they are very helpful each and every time you come in for an apt and/or when you call with questions. His nurse Sonya is wonderful, she is a great asscet to his office having had the surgery herself. She is able to help the patients feel more at ease about their situations.Before I went in for surgery I weight 318 lbs. I had my Lap RNY done on 1/16/06,I was in the hospital for 3 days, and during my stay at the hospital I couldn't have asked for better care,he came in every day twice a day to check on how my progress was going.He has a wonderful bedside manner with his patients.I am now 2 1/2 weeks post op and I lost 27lbs.Like Dr, Mailapur tells all of his patients "I have given you the tool now it's up to you to follow through." I have spoken with many people who has had the surgery done by other doctors and they regret ever having gone through with the surgery,but I can honestly said that I am greatful for finding a wonderful surgeon to perform my surgery, and if asked would I do it all over again I would say YES. I helps when you have a compasionate doctor who really cares about you and your success. Thanks for everything.

The type of personality I have is I like to know the consequences of everything I do first. What I really appreciate about Dr. Mailapur is that he didn't sugar coat anything. He was very straightforward with the risks of this surgery and also the great benefits. My insurance approved me on the first submission. The entire process, from consultation to surgery day took 3 months total.
I am now 6 months post-op and I look and feel great. My hospital stay was three days due to trapped gas (ha ha), but other than that I had no complications. None! I went from a size 18/20 to a comfortable 10. I love being able to walk into any store and purchase clothes, that don't make me feel so old.

My surgery was done in June 2005. I was very scared that I might be creating my own demise. After several follow-ups and seeing what my mother went through with her surgery, I convinced myself that I could do this. I needed to do this. I was heading in a downward spiral slowly that would eventually kill me. Dr. Mailapur was very concerned with the way that I felt about the surgery and had no bearing on my decision, only information. The decision was solely my own and no one could make it for me. I wanted to lose weight and needed to lose weight for my health and appearance. My surgery went well (or so I thought). He told my family that all went well and that he'd nicked my liver but it was ok and the cut had healed before the surgery ended. After a short while, I started getting sick at my stomach and making myself throw-up out of sheer need and my heart was racing. After several tests to make sure that I had no leaks in the stomach, and all sutures were intact, it was realized that something was definately wrong . Dr. Mailapur notified me that he may have to go into me for a 2nd surgery and this one may have to be "open". "ok" was what I said, and I was wheeled back into the OR and he proceeded to re-do my surgery so to speak. Blood that had leaked out from my liver being nicked had started pooling around my intestines, making it very difficult for them to work properly, if at all. Dr. Mailapur knew what to do and fixed the problem right up. My hospital stay was lengthy in comparison to the average surgery (for it to be lap), but remember I initially went through 2 surgeries back to back. The bottom line is Dr. Mailapur, as my surgeon, knew just how to handle the stressful situation with precision and compassion. I was asked, "Would you do it again?", a few days and a few weeks after the surgery and my response was the same both times--"I don't know". Ask me today and I say "definately". I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Mailapur. He is one of the kindest, most compasionate and patient surgeons I have met. He always has time for my questions and concerns whether they were post or pre op. Dr. Mailapur performed my lap rny on 12-30-05 without any complications. He takes many precautions some other surgeons do not take such as two IV's in case one blows and extra xray views to make certain there are not any leaks. Little things like that showed me I had a very skilled and precise surgeon (exactly what I needed). Dr. Mailapur wants all of his patients to succeed in their fight with obesity. He gives you this wonderful tool and makes sure you know what is expected out of you to achieve success. His staff is wonderful, especially Sonja who shares her own experiences to help you any way she can. I know I have the right surgeon and staff for me. I have talked to others who had Dr. Mailapur and no one ever said anything bad. We are just thankful for such a skilled surgeon.

The very first time I met Dr. Mailapur, I Loved Him! He was the kindest person, not only the kindest doctor I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. I have had moe than my fair share of medical problems and had contact with many doctors before, but he is truly speciall You can tell he has a geniune care and concern for his patients that is so calming. I never once questioned my choice to go to him and would recommend him and his staff to anyone. He emphasizes that he has given me the tools to suceed, but the way I progress is truly up to me. Dr. Mailapur always emphasized the risks with the surgery, but at the same time I knew he would be doing everything in his power to make sure he did everything to the best of his ability. I would rate Dr. Mailapur a perfect 10, your could not ask for a better or more competent surgeon in my opinion. And finally, his bedside manner was flawless. I have never been so well taken care of with any surgery (and trust me I've had more than I have fingers to count with) than with Dr. Mailapur. Even the nurses in the hospital give him glowing compliments, and most of the time they see them at their best as well as their worst. I have not one bad or negative thing to say about him and again I will recommend him to anyone who will listen to me.

I was very impressive by the thoroughness of Dr. Mailapur. He seems very caring and dedicated to his patients health. I saw him and by the next evening I had a letter from my primary physician stating that he had contacted her and I needed to have a few blood tests run. I thought there were really on the ball!!! His staff is extremely nice and helpful. He has a very thorough follow up plan for after surgery.

I was very happy with Dr. Mailapur all the way through surgery and now in the follow up stages of my weight loss surgery. He is very dedicated to his patients. The nurses at the hospital had nothing but praise for his character and the manner in which he sees his patients. I love Dr. Mailapur and would recommend him to anyone. My sister and I went through the surgery together, she is seven weeks ahead of me, and we both think the world of Dr. Mailapur. My cardiologist told me he recommended all of his patients to him.

I am incredibly pleased with Dr. Mailapur, his staff and the entire surgery experience. I did not meet Dr. Mailapur until after I had already submitted all my paperwork to Blue Cross. I went to one of his seminars and was immediately impressed with his open personality as well as his intelligent, confident style. After I receifved my OK from Blue Cross, I called the office and they helped me fast track everything and I was able to have my surgery on Jan. 4 less than a month. Dr. Mailapur is incredible. I saw him at least twice a day in the hospital. The nursing staff sung his praises, not only his skill but his kindness, fairness, and hard work. I wholeheartedly agree with them. He is always ready to answer questions and talk about your concerns. By following his instructions, I am having an excellent recovery from surgery. When I have a question, all I have to do is call the office. I recommend Dr. Mailapur without reservation. He is exceptional and his staff is equally excellent.

He is wonderful! Very friendly. I was scheduled with someone else and thank goodness I found Dr. Mailapur. His office staff
is very kind and give you a feeling of well being. Dr. Mailapur takes every precaution for your individule needs. He is so through! He is a big advocate of after care he is very big on it. As is his staff! He holds monthly meetings for pre & post patients and is available 24hours a day for his patients. Have you ever ran into a Dr. that gives you his home number? Not to often I bet. He was wonderful pre op and let my family grill him up and down he made them feel at ease! I can't say enough about him. He is young but dont let that fool you!! He is very competent!!! I have had a few people whom have had this surgery with other Dr.s and after I have had a talk with them I will say it again THANK GOD FOR DR. MAILAPUR!! I rate him 10 out 1-10. Thanks Missy R
