Dr. Mailapur truly cares for his patients. He is giving you a tool to use for the rest of your life. His office staff is very helpful and supportive. He provides enough information to help you make a very informed decision on which procedure is best for you. He has you lose some weight before surgery to show that you are serious about the surgery. I lost 16 pounds before on the plan he gives you to follow. He lets you know as with any surgery there are some risks but he is very dedicated to making sure they are minimal. With the service he provides and the caring manner he is truly saving lives with this surgery. I would recommend him to anyone thinking of having weight loss surgery in the North Alabama area.

I began my weight loss journey with Dr. Mailapur in August 2012. He requires a series of seminars about obesity, surgery options, statistics on genetics and losing weight, surgery information and what to expect at the hospital and nutrition. He and his staff are professional, friendly and very patient oriented. All of my insurance needs were handled by the staff and Dr. Mailapur maps out an easy to follow checklist on what is required before surgery is scheduled. He is very honest and forthright about the fact that this surgery is a "tool" and not a magic pill to lose weight - and thus, makes sure that you are very well educated on what you need to do to be successful. My surgery was a success and I had no complications.

Dr. Mailapur is truly a life saver. He very much cares for his patients and I feel he has a genuine interest in saving their lives and giving them a new lifestyle through weight loss.

This is very evident in the reviews he receives from his patients and the success rate that they have. I would highly recommend Dr. Mailapur and frankly, my only disappointment is that I waited this long to have surgery.

Dr Mailapur is very professional and personable. His entire office staff is friendly and helpful. There is a great emphasis on education before surgery to be certain you are prepared and aware of your responsibilities as well as knowledgable about what will occur during your hospital stay and when you go home. The support groups are available both before and after surgery with a nurse and nutritionist in attendance to answer questions. All these aspects were very impressive to me during my surgical and postoperative experience.

Dr. Mailapur is hands down, the best, most personable doctor I have ever seen. He has tremendous bedside manners, and left me feeling like he really cares about me, my health, and my progress. I am 3 weeks out from surgery and can say that my whole experience with the doctor, his office staff, Jessica, and Nurse Angie has exceeded any expectation I could have ever had. Dr. Mailapur is somewhat of a perfectionist when it comes to the care of his patients. This made me feel like he took extra care and precaution into my health and my surgery, preventing any complications. Jessica leads you into all you need to do during the insurance approval process, making it simple to follow and understand. I can honestly say that I would trust Dr. Mailapur with my children!

Well I am 3 years out and still doing great. Dr. Mailapur ask me every time he sees me if I would do it again and I say the same thing, yes I would but hope I never have to. Dr. Malapur saved my life, I can never thank him enough. He cares about his patients and wants them to succeed. I also tell him that when people ask me hoe I lost my weight I tell them I had gastric bypass and that if they are thinking of having the surgery they need to choose dr. Malapur . Dr. Mailapur and his staff are absolutely awesome! They are supportive and really care about you. I highly recommed them. I had some very unusual circumstances and Dr. Mailapur worked around all of them.

Dr. Mailapur and his staff are great. Dr. Mailapur performed my RNY on May 14, 2012. During the process leading up to the surgery, Dr. Mailapur was very informative and told me exactly what to expect. Having this surgery and allowing Dr. Mailapur to perform the surgery was the best decision I could have made. So far, I am happy with the results I am seeing. Dr Mailapur & his staff are superb! The are equally knowledgeable, efficient & personable. I started this process in January of 2011 but couldn't quit smoking. When I finally got my act together in April of 2012, Dr Mailapur's office welcomed me back with open arms & got me back on track to have my surgery. I asked to have the surgery in July & they kept me on track with appointments & tests, as well as letting me know where I needed to be in my pre-op weight loss.

Dr Mailapur is very upfront & doesn't pull punches, but there is no judgement or critisism behind his words. He truly wants to help you improve your life & is proud to be able to provide you this "tool" to do so. But the results are all on you. The success or failure is based on how you use this tool. I'm six weeks past my surgery and couldn't be more thrilled with the results. I'm down 45 pounds after my RNY and my life has changed radically. Dr. Mailapur dealt with all the aspects of post-RNY life, including mine, which dealt with my endurance athletics lifestyle. I had put on a hundred pounds after an injury...

Dr. Mailapur was consistently supportive, and I can't say too many great things about his office staff. They've always been there for me, and often went above and beyond the call of duty in making things happen.

After visiting Bariatric surgeons in the Huntsville area, it was clear to me from the first meeting that Dr. Mailapur was my surgeon of choice for my bariatric surgery. Dr. Mailapur has an amazing, informative program in place which supports the patient not only before surgery, but also after.

It all starts with a very informative seminar. The Doctor and his staff are there to answer any questions that you have. To be honest they do such a fabulous job with the presentation they give, that I really didn't have any additional questions. The Seminar provides details on all of the surgical options available, along with the pros and cons of each option. The Doctor and his team have clearly listened to the questions and concerns that a potential weight loss surgery patient have, and have addressed all of them in the presentation.

My insurance required 6 months of supervised weight loss with my primary care physician. Dr. Mailapur's office staff Jessica and Madilyn did a fabulous job on letting me know exactly what I needed to be aware of to meet this criteria. Once the 6 months was up, Jessica and Madilyn jumped right into action and got my insurance approval. They are both extremely educated on this process, and had me approved and scheduled for surgery within 3 weeks of my final supervised weight loss visit.

I attended a class before surgery and was provided with step by step information of what to expect from the minute I entered the hospital to the minute I left. Angi was brilliant, and literally went through where and when I would be stuck with needles etc. pre surgery, and what equipment I would be hooked up to when I woke up, and when I could expect each thing to be removed. This was really reassuring as I was able to understand every step of the way on the day of surgery. This was followed by a very informative session with Linda the dietician, who provided very detailed instructions of what I would be able to eat and when - after surgery. This class lasted approx. 4 hours, and just as with the seminar - I left there feeling completely informed and knew exactly what to expect as I moved toward my surgery date.

I had surgery on January 23rd, 2012. The thought and preparation that Dr. Mailapur and his team put into every single aspect of this process allowed me to be very relaxed on my day of surgery. I can honestly say that I was not even nervous - that's how much confidence I had in my surgeon :) I knew that he was the best. He came to see my prior to going into the Operating Room and he reassured me that he would take excellent care of me - and I knew that he would.

6 months post op, I can tell you that Dr. Mailapur saved my life!! Pre surgery I was taking medications for blood pressure, asthma, allergies and Gerd. After 6 months and 90 lbs, I am now totally medication free!!! I feel absolutely fantastic and am totally enjoying every aspect of my new self. After years of considering weight loss surgery, Dr. Mailapur was the final piece of the puzzle that made it all the perfect fit.

I remember sitting there watching and was thinking wow.. if I could lose that much weight and look like that... well I did :):) and I couldn't be happier. Absolutely no regrets.
