Love, Love, Love! Dr. Mailapur, Jessica, and Madeleine. They are always friendly and supportive. I had lapband surgery 10/31/11 and have lost 80+ pounds so far. The band is a tool to help me reach my ultimate goal and Dr. Mailapur is in my corner cheering me on to victory. He wants you to succeed. I highly recommend him for any weight loss surgery.

I started my foray into a surgical alternative for my obesity on March 5th 2012 at 326 pounds. I had a laparoscopic bariatric surgery accomplished by Dr. Ravindra Mailapur on December 19 2012. My first impression of Dr. Mailapur was that he was interested in me from the git go. My first conversation with him lasted about 35 minutes. My admiration of him as a humanitarian and prodigal surgeon grew with each conversation and meeting. All, his assistants, is more than competent, bubbly and supportive. You should know that Dr. Mailapur is attentive, caring and available. He delights in his profession and the blessings it can bring to others (if they take advantage of the tools he offers). He also avails himself of current studies in his field and passes that information onto his patients. I like that ALOT. He emphasizes aftercare and offers support groups through monthly meetings with him and his staff, they educates his patients about Obesity and good health. He is the person who told me about this website. He is very honest about risks and benefits and that this surgery is just a tool. He is right. That is all it is. That is however, what made the difference for me. I took his advise very seriously. I am currently at 245 lbs. April 10 2013, Overall, I would rate Dr. Mailapur and his staff on a scale of 1 to 10 at 200+. I cannot speak highly enough of his caring and professional skills. So, which is better, his bedside manner or surgical competence? Well, if you would like both, choose Dr. Mailapur and you will be in the very best of hands.

I could not ask for anyone more caring then Dr. M! The man moves at 200 MPH to be able to give as much time to his patients as possible. I promise you will never leave a meeting with out him asking you at least 3 times if you have anymore questions, and he is always happy to give you a full answer!

Dr. Mailapur and his staff are AWESOME!!! I start my long journey about 2 years ago and I wanted to give up several times. Now I am 18 days post-op and I am down 22 lbs. I have not had one minute of pain...right after surgery I had a little nausea but with medication I was up and walk. I don't regret my decision for one second. Thank you Dr. Mailpur and your awesome staff. Words can never describe how I feel...and the best is yet to come. May God bless you Dr. Mailapur and your staff.

Dr. Mailapar is one of the finest surgeons I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. He holds himself to a very high standard and expects that his patients doe the same for themselves. He explains that Bariatric surgery is only a tool that he is providing, you must do the lifestyle change. I have had 10 different surgeries and never had a surgeon who cared so much about his patients. Thank you Dr. Mailapar for all you do for us who need and use your skills. By using the guide that Dr. M wrote I have lost a total of 110 lbs. and am now off a multitude of medications. I feel that with Dr. M's help I now have many more years of healthy living to do. Thanks Dr. Mailapar

Dr. Mailapur and his office staff, and the entire bariatric program at Hsv. Hosp. have their ACT together. This group runs like a well-oiled machine. From the minute I walked into the REQUIRED seminar, through the nutrition and dietician class, and all the other steps that Dr. Mailapur requires of his patients, I knew this was a goal I was going to meet! There are NO questions left unanswered by Dr. Mailapur and staff. I have been reassured that I'm being given a tool, not a "quick fix." You have to be committed to changing your lifestyle to enter this process, and the steps that are put in place by Dr. Mailapur and his staff are there to make sure you are committed. Most importantly, throughout this entire process, I have been treated with the kindness and care. I would say that my experience with Dr. Mailapur is the best I've ever had with ANY doctor, without a doubt, and I thank him for using his God given talent to help me start a new life!

My 1st impression of Dr. Mailapur was that he was straight forward and told me that he was going to give s tool to use and after that it was up to me to use that tool to maintain my losses. He was very helpful in answering all my questions. On the day of my surgery my husband and i was waiting on them to call back to get me ready for surgery Dr. Mailapur came up to me and ask if i was ready to do this and i told him that i was nervous and scared, he reassured me that it was going to ok and that he promised to take care of me and gave me a friendly hug. I would HIGHLY recommend him for any weight loss surgery. He and his staff are awesome people and ready and willing to ask any questions that you have.I started my weight loss journey in March of 2011.I had my surgery on May 16th 2011 at the weight of 321 pounds it has been a great journey and would not change one thing except having it done sooner. I still have about 5 more pounds to go but i have finally done what i have always thought was impossible. Today i have lost 174 pounds and feel better than i did when i was young. Thank You So Much Dr. Mailapur for helping me get my life back.

Dr. Mailapur performed my surgery in 2012, and I was very happy with the results. He was very straightforward about this surgery being a tool only, and the results would be based on how well I followed the program laid out for me.
The process to get to surgery was a little burdensome, but with Jessica, Monica, and Angie's help, I made it thru the maze.
Dr. Mailapur provided extensive package of detailed information about before, during and after the surgery - what to expect, what to eat, when to eat, etc. There was no doubt about what his expectations were.
After 3 months, I had met the 50% goal I had set. However, during our visit, he set a new goal for me, and I am now happily on the path to that goal.
He is a kind and thoughtful person - I beleive he truly wants to help those who fight the obesity battle daily.
I highly recommend him, and his staff, if you are considering surgery.

Dr. Mailapur used his God given talent to give me my life back. I couldn't tell you one negative thing about him or about his AWESOME staff. You will not be disappointed in choosing him!!! I wish he could be my general practioner! Go to the seminar and you will realize he knows what he is doing and that you will be in safe hands with him.

I began my weight loss journey the year of 1984. I was extremely successful, by losing 150 pounds at the age of 19. Then through the course of 25 years, I gained all that back and then some. I tried to work out and eat correctly, tried all the diets but to no avail, I was overweight and only getting bigger. I met my wife in July of 2009. I had just gone through a divorce and was not the most social person at the time. I was very secluded and quiet. Then I saw her again in January of 2011 and she had lost quite a bit of weight. We began to date and i saw that she ate differently than anyoe I had ever been around, but I didn't ask any questions. Then she told me about her surgery and how she had to eat her protein first and then other things, but always protein first. It got me to thinking and i started checking into it. We married the following September, and I was a robust 469 lbs. That at least was the largest I had weighed, I might have weighed more. I attend a information session given by Dr. Mailapur's office and the Huntsville Hospital Bariatric division. So, November finds me in Dr. Mailapur's office and he gives me the breakdown. I am morbidly obese and I must decide to do something. I have just started taking high blood pressure medication and diabetes was probably just around the corner. I do the Dr visits and came down to the wire of losing the 50 pounds Dr. Malapur said I needed to lose before surgery in order to get my liver shrunken. I get approved for the surgery the week of August 11th, 2012 and it is moving fast. Dr. Mailapur prepared me for all the possibilities the surgery can do as well as the possibilites of what could go wrong. This has been the best decision I have ever made. I have lost a total of 178 pounds and 126 pounds since August 27, 2012. I am off blood pressure medicine and 71 pounds from my goal. I am currently at 291 pounds! And I feel great. I am getting more agile and flexible and life is getting so much better. I thank my God, my wife and Dr. Mailapur for saving my life! My only regret...I should have done it sooner.
