Wow! What a brillant man. Dr. Reinhold in my opinion has dedicated his life to helping people who are obese. From the time I met him he appeared to be committed to the patient . His office staff is great especially Terri. In conclusion, Dr.Reinhold, his office staff, nutritionist, and therapist are all excellent, and I recommend him!!!!

Everything about Dr. Reinhold, and his staff give off the feeling of total confidence.
Once you have your initial visit,at which time He goes over the basic "plan", you are then schedualed for a Psychological Assessment, as well as a Nutritional workup. During this time you are expected to attend a meeting of the "GROUP", which mets once a month at St. Raphaels Hospital, to preview some of the procedures, and to discuss the problems, of pre, as well as post operative matters. Many of those that are in attendance are "graduates" that are two or more years post operative.
The only critism that I have is that He and His staff give out more information, in some areas than I would like to know.
I would be hard pressed to this point to find anything with either Dr. Reinhold, or his program, other than perhaps He seems to be entierly to serious all of the time.
I can not say enough about Dr. reinhold, or his staff. Everyone in his office seems to go out of their way to be helpful, and everyone is more than professional.
On a scale of 1 to 10 I would rate His entire program at 11

Dr Reinhold didn't bowl me over with personality, but he is respectful and courteous. More to the point, he exudes competence.
His collateral staff are also very good. This makes a difference in a lot of small ways. For example, they have lots of experience with submitting insurance authorization requests, and consequently, I was approved even before I knew the letter had been sent. The nutrtionist and psychiatric social worker he collaborates with also have plenty of experience with--and empathy for--seriously overweight people. Finally, because Dr Reinhold does so much wls, the hospital nursing staff are quite familiar with the needs of wls patients. (The fact that he's also chief of surgery probably helps assure that his patients get well taken care of!)
His pre- and post-op program is well-integrated and thorough, with plenty of individual and group support available.
Dr Reinhold was candid with me from the beginning about his experience with wls, including his failures (I think it's on the order of six deaths out of perhaps 800 wls operations). He also, unasked, provided a list of patients whom I could consult with.
The residents in training under him were also considerate and competent. Dr Reinhold saw me at least once daily in the hospital, and the residents checked in 2-3 times a day.
All in all, I am very impressed and satisfied with him, his office, his colleagues, and the hospital. I would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone considering wls.

My surgeon, Dr. Randolph Reinhold is Chief of Surgery at the Hospital of St. Raphael in New Haven, CT. What impressed me most on my first visit was his competence and his caring. He specifically pointed out a chair to sit in withour arms because he knew it would be more comfortable! He has performed more than 700 open RNY procedures with very little complications, and has trained the entire staff at the hospital how to care for his patients.
His office staff, specifically Terry, his medical assistant, is professional and thorough. She puts you at ease, and answers your questions.
My surgery date is 11-17-99, so I will update everyone again after that.
Dr. Reinhold has an aftercare program which includes a monthly support group and offers both group and individual counseling also.

I have a lot of confidence in Dr Reinhold.
He addressed my questions concerning the surgery and the risks.
My pcp highly recommended Dr Reinhold and his competence with this surgery.
But most important to me was his knowledge and competence during the operation,
his compassion for his patients and after care.
Dr Reinhold was excellant. I was taken very good care of
by him and 4 of his surgical residents, all of whom visited me a few times a day.
The nursing staff at St Raphael's Hospital have been well trained
on the needs of the wls patient and were very responsive to my needs.
Dr Reinhold's office staff are great and always there
to answer your questions. Phone calls are always returned promptly,
which I feel is so important. But most important they treat you with respect and
understanding of what you are going through.

My surgeon was Dr. Reinhold. I had my surgery on 11/10/99 at St. Rapheal's in New Haven, Connecticut. My first consult was 9/3/99. I was very impressed with his staff even before I went there. When I had called to make my appointment I was very pleased with the way i was treated. I liked him from the moment i met him. He addressed all my concerns and told me even about a death that had accured 20 years ago. being as honest as he was, I felt real comfortable. The surgery was very good, aside from a fluke of my own with pulling out the ventilator tube. I feel wonderful and have been basicly doing everything since I was a week post-op. the only negative thing I have to say is not about my surgeon, or the surgery itself. I did NOT like being in the hospital over the weekend, the care is NOT as good.

Dr. Randolph Reinhold, New Haven Ct.
Dr Reinhold exhibits a very professional attitude as does all of his office staff. They have a procedure which you must follow and it is made clear that there will be sanctions if the procedures aren't followed completely.
Future patients should be aware that his presurgical process is a long one and he will not cut corners for anyone.
Dr. Reinhold has a structured aftercare program which includes meetings of a support group of pre and post surgical patients.
Dr. Reinhold was very thorough in addressing the risks and possible adverse reactions to the surgery although he also explains that everything will be done to ensure the best possible outcome.
i would rate Dr. Reinhold to be excellent and have already recommended him to others seeking this surgery.
His surgical competence is excellent as is shown by his record of success. his bedside manner leaves much to be desired however. I prefer surgical competence to warm feelings.
