Randolph Reinhold Bariatric Surgeon M.D.

I was personally impressed with Dr. Reinhold from the information seminar I went to for his Group. To me, he knows his stuff ... has been doing this for a long time so I liked the fact that he has very good credentials (I believe he's the Head of Surgery and I've been told he's the best in the area - trained in Boston and the other Bariactirc Dr's at St. Raph's studied under him.)
My impression has not changed about him but he's a busy guy, in demand!

I found his staff to be very good, busy, but still very attentive.

For future patients, I would say, while in the Hosp., don't be surprised to see many Residents that are studying under him - I personally believe that while I was in the Hosp., he had a good, qualified team at this teaching Hospital.

They do have monthly "aftercare" programs plus the Psychologist offers a 12-week "step" program (at a fee). I do not believe these meetings are a requirement but I am not positive.

For me personally, surgery risks were definitely addressed. I was at high risk for blood clots and that was
most definitely addressed, even at my 1st Dr's visit. Dr. even spoke with my Hematologist (whose practice is an hour from New Haven). I appreciated that each Dr. took the time from their busy schedules.

I personally would rate him as a great Doctor.
I'd like to take the oppty now to say I went an hour away from my home for this surgery because I was personally not comfortable with the Dr's, AND STAFF, at the Bariactic Surgeons at St. Francis in Hartford (a 15-20 min. ride from my house). My personal experience brought me much frustration with the extremely busy office but I do know folks who sing their praises. So, for me, even with the travel inconvenience, I am VERY happy with my decision to go to Dr. Reinhold in New Haven.

My personal negative comments would only be about my 1st Hosp. stay (I had two stays because of a later blood clot). First Hosp. brought a detoxing drug addict having stomach pains to my room (Hosp. was supposedly full so this person was brought to the surgical floor). Despite her problems, this person's family snuck her many different fast food meals which was very difficult to smell - made me extremely nauseated my entire stay. Along with the nausea I had to put up with numerous visitors (at all hours) and many sudden outbursts (I was a bundle of nerves and READY to go home).
My 2nd Hosp. stay was fine though, that was a relief.
If it all were to happen again, I personally would stay on the Hosp. Patient Care folks, not the Nurses, if the situation were similar.

I met with Dr Reinhold and his Nurse Practioner Jessie today. They were both extremely nice and made me feel at ease right away. The office staff was also very pleasant and they made me feel as if I had known them all for a long time. Dr Reinhold is very professional and exudes a confidence that puts the patient at ease. He's not overtly humorous but he smiled a few times during our chat. He took all the time I needed to explain the procedure and answer all my questions. He discussed his aftercare program and how you are monitored as a post-op. Overall I would rate the entire team as excellent.

Mu First impression of Dr. Reinhold was he was a very experienced Doctor, he made my husband and I feel very comfortable and very confident with him. He was also very personable. Which we think is a great thing.
We are just in our beginning stages but so far we think he is great!

Dr. Reinhold's office & team has been wonderful so far. Although he doesn't seem like the warmest man on the earth, he does seem very knowledgeable and very methodical about the gastric bypass procedure & after care. He works with an LPRN, a dietician, a social worker & the hospital itself is a well known center for GBS. I feel that I am in great hands.

My first impression of Dr. Reinhold was that he was very caring and sensitive, I liked him alot. I was very nervous and he made me feel calm. I know in my heart that he is the one to help me. He is head of sugery and is very skillfull, he has years and years of experience. I'm putting my life in his hands. He said I was a very good canidate for lap rny, however, Dr. Barajas does that for him, I went to him because he is the best I only want him to do the surgery, god knows I waited long enough.......

my doctor, dr. wesler, referred me to him but he doesn't accept cigna health care. i just wish these doctors would get their heads out of their butts and start caring for people instead of lining their own pockets.my doctor said he was about the best in the area and closest to where i live and that's good enough for me.

Dr. Reinhold is a very understanding physician. He has performed over 1000 bypass surgeries. His staff seems to be very caring and understanding. His office is located in the Hospital of St. Raphaels. The staff was wonderful as was he. He was open, honest and to the point. He let me know that surgery was only part of the process. I still had to change my eating habits and start exercising to stay healthy. He recommends talking with others and attending support groups to share information. As far as risks, we didnt go into them in detail, I have had many surgeries and understand there is always a risk. I would recommend his group to anyone but unfortunately there is about an 18 month wait.

Dr Reinhold was very pleasant, he asked all the questions necassary to better understand my weight history, as well as my health history. I really think this is going to be a positive experience for me.

His staff were unbelievably friendly.
Katherine was so helpful prior to my visit during our phone conversations, and equally friendly at my consultation visit.

Karen the nurse was very kind too.

The best in the field. He is very thorough. Would definitely recommend him.
