I like my surgeon when I met him the first time and my feeling never changed about him. He was sure about what he wanted to do and up front about things and let me knwo where I stood for surgery. I love his staff. They are there for you all the time. Not a problem with any on them. What anyone should know about my surgeon is that he knows what is is doing and you can tell that be talking to him. My aftercare from my surgeon was little because I think he had alot of panient and he was very busy. I did see and talk to him but not as much as I seen his helper Dr. Pitt. Yes he talk to me about everything and I knew what I was getting myself into before surgery. Would tell anyone to have Dr. Schauer do your RYN.

I love my surgeon!! He is extremely knowledgeable about all of the different kinds of WLS's. He's very soft spoken and kind. He tends to always be running behind though, so take a good book when going for an office visit!!

I REALLY DO LIKE MY SURGEON HE WAS VERY PROFESSIONAL AND CARING TO MY NEEDS. ALWAYS TOOK EXTRA TIME IN EXPLAINING HIMSELF ABOUT WHY HE NEEDED TO DO THINGS DIFFERENT IN MY CASE.HE IS A VERY INTELLEGENT MAN THAT HAS WROTE MANY MEDICAL PAPERS AND TEACHES OTHER DOCTORS AND IS WORLD RENOWN IN WHAT HE DOES. I HAVE SEEN MANY OTHER SPECIALTY DOCTORS WHO COULDNT HELP ME AND HE DIAGNOSED MY PROBLEM IN MY FIRST VISIT AND REALLY IMPROVED MY QUALITY OF LIFE. FOR THE FIRST TIME IN 12 YEARS I AM NO LOGER VOMITING MY FOOD AND NO LONGER HAVE A SEVERE CASE OF GERD. I DO HOWEVER DO NOT LIKE THAT WHEN U SEE THIS PHYSCIAN U DO HAVE TO WAIT SOMETIMES OVER AN HOUR! THE REST OF THE STAFF AT THE CLEVELAND CLINIC WAS GREAT. I DO HOWEVER DO NOT GIVE ANY HIGH MARKS IN THE PSYCH DEPARTMENT WHO NOT ONLY HELD UP MY SURGERY FOR SEVERAL MONTHS BUT DO NOT FOLLOW THROUGH WITH THINGS IN A TIMELY OR COURTESY MANNER. NOT ALL PEOPLE WHO HAVE THIS TYPE OF SURGERY IS FOR WEIGHT LOSS BUT FOR MEDICAL CONDITIONS WHICH THEY TOTALLY DO NOT UNDERSTAND. THE DEPT PUTS EVERYONE IN THE SAME CATAGORY AND IS UNABLE TO THINK OTHER WISE. DR SCHAUER HAS A GREAT BEDSIDE MANNER AND IS VERY COMPETENT IN HIS WORK THAT IS WHY HE IS WORLD RENOWN IN BARACTRIC SURGERY.........THANKS DR SCHAUER

Had my first consult with surgeon today. Only got to spend a very short time with him, but found out I have to do the 6 month supervised diet, so that's where I begin. rn I really felt comfortable immediately with Dr Schauer. He seems to be very kind and understanding. I'm very happy with my choice.rnHis staff are very nice and give you a lot of information and answer all your questions.rnGoing through the 6 mo. diet. seems excruciatingly slow and appts with pschy. are difficult to get. I drive 3.5 hours to Cleveland Clinic, and try to get any appts I need scheduled the same day. The girls are wonderful at arranging this for me. I don't know how they do it! But I am grateful for it. rnNow I'm just anxious. I'll be done with my diet in July, but concerned as to how long after that it will take to get a surgery date. I pray the wait isn't long. rnrnHad my surgery and Dr Schauer was wonderful. I couldn't have got a better doctor if I tried. His fellows and nursing staff were the greatest. Even though I know my husband probably drove them crazy. But overall it was smooth sailing. Two thumbs up for Dr Schauer and Staff.

Great doctor. Explains everything clearly. Staff from day one has been top notch. Facility is superb. Explained clearly the risk during surgery and how to improve the odds of a very successful surgery. I will let you know how his bedside manner is once I have surgery.

My surgery was performed by Dr. Philip Schauer while he was in Pittsburgh. He is wonderful!!! My experience with him and his staff was exceptional. Dr. Schauer relieved my fears about surgery (going to sleep) and before I knew what had happened, I was waking up!! Would I recommend him? ABSOLUTELY!!!

Dr. Schauer is a nice guy and very caring. He seems to likes his job and he makes sure you know everything about the surgery and all the pros and cons. rnrnHis staff was very friendly and caring type of people. rnrn I would rate him an 10/10 rnrnCleveland Clinic is by far the best hospital to go to for this surgery!

My first impression of Dr. Schauer was \"wow, he is so handsome, what is he doing in bariatrics?\" Over time, I realized that he is quite the professional and his time is probably better spend with those who fall outside the arc of the normal. He delegates routine exams to his teaching fellows who are equally as proficient and competent. Future patients should know that he is very thorough and the wait to see him is sometimes longer than you would want to wait. After care is not a big discussion with Dr. Schauer as it is with his staff. The staff emphasizes the need to continue to follow the program outlined for success. The risks were outlined in detail and it is made clear that the final and ultimate decision must be yours. I rate Dr. Schauer as an excellent surgeon overall. I see why the Cleveland Clinic wooed him from Pennsylvania. Surgical competence is my priority expectation, but it is also nice to have bedside manner for those who need it. I don't particularly require that type of service.

I have seen Dr Schauer and am awaiting approval from Ohio Medicaid. He is a wonderful doctor. He seems highly skilled and has a fantastic bed side manner. I have great confidence in Dr Schauer.

Dr. Schauer is an expert in the Lap RNY procedure. Before my surgery I was unsure about how things would be after but he reassured me. Often though when I was researching on my own, I would find that he was quoted in many different places. Not just medical papers, but in the Wall Street Journal and the New York Times. This reassured me as to my decision.rnrnAt 3 months post-op, I have had no surgical complications and a very swift recovery period. I received excellent care at The Cleveland Clinic, and I would highly recommend Dr. Schauer and his staff to anyone seeking this procedure.
