Philip Fischer Bariatric Surgeon M.D.

1-22-04: Initial consult.
The receptionist complained about the phone ringing constantly, but other than that she was okay. Susan, the nurse was very friendly and made me feel at ease. My initial impression of Dr. Fischer was that he was extremely friendly and had a sense of humor. My husband and I talked with him for an hour and a half and didn't feel rushed at all. He explained the surgery and the importance of aftercare in every aspect possible. I had two pages of questions and he answered every question I had. Dr. Fischer seems to really have the surgical competence/knowledge as he has been doing the surgery for 6 years, which helped to ease my anxiety. I feel completely at ease and at peace with Dr. Fischer and know that I am in capable hands. (God's and Dr. Fischer's).

Dr. Fischer was very nice, very understanding and he put me at ease right away. He explained everything in a way that I could understand it and spent time answering my questions. His nurse was very sweet and seemed so excited to meet me, she has always been very helpful when I have called. His staff has been very understanding when helping me with my insureance company problems. They have been so thorough in getting my medical information and scheduling consults, getting me ready and covering all the bases! He stresses nutrician and taking care of myself! I would highly recommend him to anyone!

I consulted with Dr. Fisher for the first time on 9/15/03. I immediately knew that he was the surgeon for me. He was very kind. He made me feel like I mattered. I was also pleased with his selection criteria. I was very pleased with his manner as well as the kindness he and Susan showed to me. He was very easy to talk to and he answered all my questions without hesitation. I feel that he is well qualified to perform this procedure and I know he will take excellent care of me afterwards.

My first impression was a great one. I was greeted at the front desk with a smile to the same woman whom I just got off the phone with getting directions (I would get lost in a wet paper bag! LOL).. His nurse is the sweetest lady ever. She is thin but you makes you feel right at home. She acted as if she had known me for years and was excited I was going to be able to have this surgery ( No not just so she would continue to get a paycheck! She was genuine).. Dr. Fischer was so so so nice. He is also thin. Not one time did I feel out of place in his office. I felt like he really cared about me and my future. He explained everything in detail. He did not rush me. He spent probably a total of 45 minutes with me talking. There was nothing I did not like about him. I even referred two of my close friends to him and went with them to their visit. They were just as impressed. He talk to my in depth about after care and how important this was and this surgery was only a tool.. but a good one that would work if I would work it.. HE'S THE GREATEST!!!!!!!!

Dr fischer was very nice and very informative of the surgery.and his staff were great.I didnt have to wait for a long period of time.

Dr Fischer came right in and introduced his self to me. We talked and he asked me his questions and I asked him mine.
The Office Staff I dealt with at Baptist South were great. They have a Rude Twit at the Baptist East office though.
He informed of all the risk involved with this surgery and yes I asked him the BIGGEST question and No he has not lost anyone from this surgery.
He seemed to be tired and even a little exhausted but I think he handled everything in the right way and he didn't not make me feel rushed. He sent me for lab work to make sure I don't have the bacteria that causes stomach ulcers. If I have it he will put me on an antibiotic to get rid of it before surgery. He is a perfectionist so I feel like I will be in good hands.

April 9 2003
1 week after surgery. Dr Fischer is wonderful. He checked on me at least 3 times a day in the hospital and even called the nurses real late the the night I had my surgery to check on me. He also called me the day after I got home to check on me. He is a great surgeon. I have not had any real pain at all. I would do this again in a heartbeat and only if he would do it. Thank You Dr. Fischer!!!!!!! oh yeah, 15 pounds gone in 1 week too lol

I met Dr. Fischer in Oct.02. He is a very personable man. He took up time with me on my consultation visit and answered my ???'S. He didn't make me fill bad for being over weight.On my next visit with Dr. Fischer I was pushing to see when I could return to work and he let me know I was to take of me.
The office staff is so helpful and kind.Dr. Fischer is very cardful to make sure you and your family understand the risks of surgery.When you are the one being cut on surgical competence is much more important than bedside mannor butif you choose Dr. Fischer I think you will be very pleased but I will let you know how I feel after my surgery.

That he was very young. It was okay that he was only 31. Everyone was nice and helpful. This was my first visit so he was impressive to me. We didn't get into all of the aspects of the surgery. He did go over the risks with me very well. On my next visit the dr asked me to bring my spouse and we'll also watch a tape.
