Peter Liao Bariatric Surgeon M.D., F.A.C.S.

Dr. Liao, was very good. He spent time with me before surgery and the next day, office vists with him are never rushed. Any questions I had he was glad to answer. His office staff is also great.

So I have been waiting to post my review on Dr. Peter Liao because I wanted to get to know him all the way around, meaning pre-op, surgical, and post-op. I absolutely LOVE HIM! When I first met him I thought he was funny, understanding, and as soon as he looked at me he knew which procedure would fit me. And what made it even better is that he agreed with my decision. His office staff was nice. Trish the secretary also had the gastric sleeve and she is very understanding and helpful to your needs. His Medical assistants are ok. The Nutrionist is the best as well as the NP!

I didn't have to worry about anything throughout the entire process. They took care of everything right after I made my initial appointment with him. I was very informed as far the risks were concerned, and his program was so structured that I couldn't miss a beat. I never had any issues with my insurance company, and they also kept me informed of that process the entire way.

His bedside manner was ok. He is not a man of many words and in fact can be a litle rushed. But that would be the only negative I could say. But that is not an all the time thing. When I was dischrged I was discharged by his partner Dr. Moe. (Who is also another great doctor) I enjoyed my stay at the hospital, and he made sure I was well cared for.

If you ever decide to have surgery at GBMC make sure it is with Dr. Liao!

I went to the info session and my first visit and was highly disappointed in all aspects of the visit. I was told I would be called before the visit to talk finances and I wasn't; they could not answer my questions about insurance and there's the "possibility" that I may be responsible for the entire surgery and won't know until after (I know it's my insurance's fault, but I wouldn't have kept appt. if I'd known that ahead of time.) I found Dr. Liao very curt, not particularly friendly, and especially not reassuring. This is a frightening, stress-inducing process and I didn't feel that this was understood on his part at all. It was very much "Are there any questions" and "Well, if you think you can lose weight, don't have the surgery." He also did not seem to believe that I'm a nonsmoker (have never smoked) - I can't imagine why but found it rather insulting that I wasn't believed. I came away discouraged and frustrated and will probably not return.

I highly recommend Dr. Liao everytime I get in a conversation with someone who is considering Gastric bypass surgery. My story shocks them everytime because the initial impression are important to everyone.
Well it was May 2007 Boy was I a nervous reck. Not scared I knew I was in good hands. From the very first day I met Dr Liao 6 months prior to this day I was very impressed. The first impression he made had me hooked. And I am a person that believes that first impressions are the most important. After talking with 3 other gastric surgeons that the first thing they asked me was if I had insurance or how much I have to spend and showed no concern for me and my health. Dr Liao the first question he asked me was Tell me about yourself, why are your here? This threw me back a moment. But I was hooked. Nw I did have insurance and I did do my homework before coming to the visit. And as usual before the visit and after the visit with the physician staff I took care of the financial concerns. It is going on 5 years after surgery and I have kept all my weight off successfully.
He and His staff are very profession, efficient and friendly his bedsite manner is execptional and his professional personality is so nice. I feel that he is an exceptional surgeon as I have had no complications or issues in the 5 years since my surgery.

My first impression of Dr. Liao was that he was very helpful. I attended a seminar and he was very patient at answering questions, as well as when I had my 1st consultation with him. I look forward to my visits in the COMP, everyone is very nice and caring.

I loved Dr. Liao from day one. He is very friendly and explained things thoroughly. His office staff is great, always there to answer questions and work with me when scheduling appointments. I attended six required monthly visits with the nutritionist and the NP. Very informative and full of needed information. All risks were explained to me and there were even extra precautions (due to my high BMI) that I was required to take. I had my VSG on March 11, 2010 and so far so good. Dr. Liao was very calm and reassuring the day of surgery and made me feel at ease. I would say he gets an A for bedside manner and I'm sure he's a competent surgeon.

I highly recommend Dr. Liao. After my meeting with him I felt well informed and ready to start the process. He's well qualified, he's very personable, he's got an awesome bedside manor. He, been quite open and will answer any question you have about your surgery. The office staff is friendly and knowledgable. The presurgery program is excellent! I knew exactly what to expect every step of the way.

Dr.Liao and his staff are all very nice. They are helpful,kind and considerate and most of all they address the individual needs of each patient which is very important to me.

Dr Liao is a fantastc surgeon. From the momment i met him till the time i went home, Dr. Liao is a class act and professional 100% of the time.

HELLO EVERYONE IT TOOK ME A LONG TIME TO GET TO THIS POINT, FOUR YEARS WELL I FINALY FOUND MY SURGEON I HAD TO GO ALL THE WAY TO BALTIMORE TO DO THIS I HAD ATTENDED HIS MEETING 6 MONTHS AGO AND HE EXPLAINED EVERYTHING TO ME I HAD A LOT OF QUESTIONS TO ASK HIM AND HE ANSWERED EVERYONE OF THEM I LIKE HIS HUMMER AND HIS BED SIDE MANER I DID 6 MONTHS OF SUPERVIESD DIETS,AND I JUST FINISHED UP THE LAST OF MY TESTING NOW MY PAPERS WAS SENT TO MY INSURANCE COMPANY AND I GOT A ANSWER IN ONE WEEK SO MY SURGERY DATE IS 6/15/09 AT 7:30 AM AT THE GREATER BALTIMORE MEDICAL CENTER I DID NOT HAVE TO DO ANYTHING DR LIAO STAFF DID IT ALL AND IT ONLY TOOK ONE WEEK/////// GREAT//////// SOON I WILL BE ON THE LOSEING SIDE FINALY////
