Dr. Pavlos Papasavas is a very intelligent, patient, and skilled surgeon. He takes the time to explain everything to you. The good and the bad, as well as all the work you need to do to be succesful. You never feel rushed, and he answers all your questions. His staff is fantastic. Beth, his PA is very helpful. The dietician, Megan, is a great reasource. They even have two independent psychologists to provide psychological services to patients. His skilled team will help you make sure all the paper work for the insurance company is correct, so that there arent any delays. His practice has monthly support group meetings you can attend prior to, and after surgery for any assistance you could need. You can call anyone at his office for help at anytime, and they will immediatly assist you. He has you come back for regular follow up appts., he even came to the hospital to see me on sunday before I was discharged, as well as Saturday. Dr. Papasavas is a world class bariatric surgeon who is in this for more than a job. He really cares about his patients. I would recomend to anyone in pgh who is considering this to please go talk to Dr. Papasavas. You will be glad that you did. My dealings with Dr. Papasavas, and his staff where outstanding, but as with anything you may have a different experience. We cant all have the same impressions of events, and these thoughts are just my personal opions. The following link can give you more info about Dr.Papasavas and his staff.

Dr. Papasavas was great took his time and I was VERY comfortable. The Staff is slow u wait along time but my work is ok with my appointments I am the 1 that gets annoyed waiting for 3-40 minutes from time of supposed appointment. Plan to be at the office awhile no an in/out office. I rate the doc a7 out of 10. He does go into detail and I would rather have LAp Band but unless I go to Mexico! I am getting roux & Y. The Doc was very thorough regrding risks of procedure.

NOT AT ALL. HE WAS VERY GOOD AT GIVING ME ALL THE INFO I NEEDED.
PLEASANT, AND DOWN TO EARTH

NOTHING. EVERYTHING WENT SMOOTH

ASK ALL OF YOUR QUESTIONS I EVEN ASKED MINE 3 TIMES AND HE WAS NEVER RUDE.
TONS, HE IS VERY INFORMATIVE. I LEFT WITH ALL MY QUESTIONS ANSWERED.
I WAS TOLD I WOULD HAVE FOLLOWUPS WITH HIM AND HIS STAFF EVERY MONTH UNTILL I HEAL
VERY BLUNT AND STILL I WAS VERY COMFORTABLE HE DIDNT AIDE IN MY DECISION, I MADE MY OWN.
10 OUT OF 10 I LOOKED INTO OTHERS BUT HE AND HIS TEAM ARE VERY PROMPT AND ON THE BALL

IM NOT SURE I HAVENT HAD MY SURGERY YET.

Dr. Papasavas was great, he explained everything in great detail, including all the risks involved. He allowed plenty of time for any questions. I thought his office staff was great also, they were very nice and also allowed time for any questions we may have had. He didn't talk about any aftercare but I am guessing that that will come at a later time. I would rate him and his staff at least a 9. I think surgical competence and bedside manner are each very important. I guess I'll see how both of those go later.

I had my first appointment with Dr. Papasavas this past September, 2004. He was very polite, direct, and thorough. All of the office staff that I encountered were terrific, made me feel like I was walking into their home, and I did not have to wait longer to see the surgeon than I would have waited to see a PCP, so that was great. The office staff seemed to be very organized and everything went smoothly. There was one assistant who made me feel uncomfortable because of a comment that she made that was unnecessary, but other than that, I had a great visit. The surgeon explained the surgery to me very thoroughly, he also went over my other options and seemed to be trying to sell me on another, less-invasive procedure, since I am so young. He went through all of the major risks of the surgery, but we did not hit too much on aftercare. I will see him again in November, 2004 and see where I am with my insurance requirements.

My first impresion was that he was a kind man and continued throughout the interview with him..he told me in detail about the su
rgery and had a very kind manner about him.
His office staff on the other hand seemed to be busy and not interested in answering any questions...but of course that was my first visit....maybe things will change??

I was hesitant about him at first, maybe because I was nervous, but after the first visit and since, I have nothing but gratitude and respect for him. Him and his staff are awesome and have been a great help before during and after surgery.
