Love him, not a real chatty guy - but very good.

Dr. Macik was wonderful. He was kind, patient - almost shy! His bed side manners were great. I would strongly recommend him.

If you can make it to support group, please go. Unfortunately, they are only at his location in Atlanta. I live in Gwinnett county; there is nothing over here as to support groups.

Dr. Macik has a good reputation as a surgeon among his peers. His post-op care, however, was insufficient and I felt as though I was only a source of money for him and his staff. No one ever took my blood pressure or temperature EVER, and post-op care was basically weighing in and answering questions about what I was eating and was I taking my vitamins. When I had several very painful post-op episodes Dr. Macik recommended returning to liquids, without ever telling me how long to stay on them, when to go off, when to come back in for a follow up etc. I lost a lot of weight very rapidly and suffered peripheral neuropathy in both legs from too rapid weight loss. I am currently 20 pounds below my goal. I switched surgeons for my follow-up care because I was so disappointed. Macik also charged me $5,000 out of pocket in addition to what insurance paid supposedly for lifelong after care.

Dr. Macik has a quiet beside manner but is very caring.
I respect Dr. Macik very much.
The office staff is wonderful. They go the extra mile to make sure everything is taken care of. They really take an interest in their patients.
I would recommend this group to anyone out there looking for a doctor.

Dr. Macik I believe is a good surgeron but his bed manners needs some improvement. Follow-up visits are short. He has a check list of questions he asks and that is it. I would like to see him take a little more time with follow-up visits.

I think Dr. Macik is great. He is very professional but somewhat of a quiet man, but if you ask him anything he will take the time to answer you. I had the utmost confidence in him and feel like he and his staff is truly interested in my success.

Met Dr. Macik Oct 11, at his office near Northside Hospital. He stated all is looking good. I have all my appts i.e., upper GI, respiratory and Cardio scheduled and my surgery date is Thursday, Oct 14, 04 at Northside Hospital. Impressed with his staff. Very friendly, he was pleasant and made me feel comfortable. Have a post-op appt w/him on the Oct 12.

Surgery 14 Oct 04. Dr. Macik is great! After surgery he came by to see how I was doing and stated that I was now on the other side. His staff came by to see me Friday, Oct 15, to check on me and I spoke with them today Oct 18, 04 for follow-up information. They are great, he and his staff want to ensure you are doing fine and they are there when and/or if you need them.

Had 2 week followup with Dr. Macik. He was not available but saw the Dr. Assistant instead, she was great. She advised me on what meals I can eat next, what vitamins to take and showed me how to give myself vitamin b12 shots.

I have nothing but great things to say about Dr. Macik and his staff. They have always treated me with the ultra-most respect, support and kindness & support.

Jun 22, 05 - I am now 8 mts out and down to 174lbs. From a size 26-28 to a 16/14. Dr. Macik & his staff are grand, no matter how I feel or if I need anything I know I can count on them when I have too. Thank You Dr. Macik & your staff you have given me my life back.

Dr. Macik is very soft spoken and doesn't have a lot to say, but I had the utmost faith in his abilty and it was rewarded with a textboo operation and recovery. His office staff is competent and very knowledgeable, especially the office manager Karen who got me approved in about two days, no joke.
My only complaint about Dr. Macik is that he is almost shy and doesn't really seem terribly invested in each patient. But I'm a talker and so I guess I expect that from others also. He does his job very well though and answers any and all questions that are asked of him.
I would rate him an overall 9 out of 10. He is incredibly surgically competent even if his bedside manner is somewhat stiff ( not mean or anything, just not very outgoing).

When I met with Dr. Macik for the first time, I found him to be warm and personable! I especially took notice of his firm handshake and reassuring smile! I didn't have a lot of questions for Dr. Macik as a pre-op, but I'm sure I will have more questions once I am post-op! From the information I've gathered from a few reliable sources, Dr. Waits and Dr. Macik are two of the finest Bariatric surgeons in the South! The office staff is very precise and efficient! I heard that the staff is very busy but not to busy to answer your questions! I also found this to be true. I will be actively participating in Drs. Waits and Macik's support group post-op. From what I have learned and experienced thus far, I would rate Dr. Macik and his staff a solid 10++!

Now that my surgery is completed and I've met with Dr. Macik a few times throughout my hospital stay, my opinion of him and his office staff remains the same! Both are top-notch!!!

Dr. Macik seems very knowledgeable and focused, but at first he came across as a little quiet or timid. Later I could tell that he has a soft and dry sense of humor. Post-Op I have found him to be very conscientious and genuinely concerned. I like his office staff, particularly his nurse, Mary Frances. He is an excellent surgeon. I'm 6 months post op, no complications. He ordered an upper GI to check for leaks before I was allowed anything by mouth. I like that sort of caution, having read some others complications here. I was, and am, very impressed with him. Starting here on AMOS as a member, at 6 months Post-op. No complications.
