When I met Dr Nick I had already started my six monthe pre-op diet with another surgeon. I went to his seminar July 7th and was I impressed. First of all, I cannot imagine why any surgeon wouldn't have a seminar. I think it speaks to the quality of the doctor. I was very comforatble with his entire staff. When I talked to the insurance ladies, they suggested I finish my 6 month preop diet and get thru the approval then change suregeons with the insurance company. This was very good advice and it worked out for me. All is well and surgery is schdeuled for Oct 14, 209 at noon.
My first impression of Dr. Nick and staff was a good one. He is very informative and will answer questions as long as you have them. Allison, his nurse, is awesome and full of information. Office staff quite nice as well. rnrn5 weeks post op - feeling great and have attended my nutrition class. Will have 6 week follow-up with Dr. Nick next week. Baylor offers a once a month support class and I will be attending. There are lots of ways to get the support you need. rnrnWould recommend Dr. Nick to anyone researching surgery....
My first impression was that he was young and energenic as I watched him give the 3 hours seminar where he explained all three surgery types and their advantages and disadvantages. He stood the entire 3 hours. He was open and honest and answered everyone's questions. I was impressed with him and decided he was the one I wanted.rn The only time I actually met with him personally was for 20 minutes in his office, where I told him what surgery I wanted and provided him with a full history of my prescriptions and surgeries and reasons for wanting the surgery which he read before he came in to see me. He approved my choice of the gastric sleeve to avoid the malabsorbtion problems, dumping syndrome, and forbidden foods. rn Two weeks later I saw him for only a minute before the surgery and a minute the next day after the surgery. That was it. He was efficient and competent and any extra time together apparently was unnecessary. His personality is understanding, pleasant and he has a sense of humor. The last thing he said to me the day after my surgery is \"Your body thanks you\". rn
My surgeon is the Best. He is so caring and he is so concerned about his patients. I just love him so much. He takes time with you, and that is so important to me and I know to others. His staff is also so caring.rnCrimson and Cristina is always there when you need to ask a question. They are so sweet. I am so glad to have Dr. Nick I am so blessed.
I had my gastric bypass done on December 29, 2008. I can not say enough great things about Baylor Plano and Dr. Nicholson! My first impression of Dr. Nicholson was that he really understood and knew what he is doing. Most bariatric surgeons these days are most likely doing it for money, or so I am told. But Dr. Nicholson is really doing it to make a difference. At his seminar, he tells it like it is, and that is what I also like about him. Great person doing great things for others. His office staff really incredibly amazing! Crimson worked with us to make sure we had everything for the insurance company. Being 18 years old, it was easy to pull all my medical history. There is absolutely nothing that I dislike about Dr. Nicholson, his staff, and Balyor Plano!!! Dr. Nick is very serious about post op nutrition. He will tell you everything you need to know about it from the pouch stretching to the painful dumping syndromes. He will tell it as it is. Baylor's aftercare program is amazing. After a day or so after surgery, you will be expected to get up and start walking around. There are support groups meeting every month that are amazing! He also stressed about the risks of gastric bypass very thoroughly. I would have to rate him as a 10 out of a range of 1-10, 10 being best! He is a very great guy doing great things for us!

I have always had 100% trust in Dr. Nicholson, I would & do refer him to anyone looking to have surgery. My impression has not changed.
Balyor Dallas, has a great pro-op and post op program and support group, the dietition is AWESOME. Any question I have had, she has the answer.
My only regret...not doing it sooner.
You just have to understand, the front desk is a busy place, so you will more than likely get someone's voicemail when you call, which is frusturating, but they do call you back.
