I was very pleased with my first consultation with Dr. Marymor. He was very down to earth, he took his time with both my husband and myself. He answered the many questions we had. He was very informative. He went over all the pluses and the riskes of the surgery. He understood me so well and I felt like he knew how I felt about being over weight. He diffently at this part in my journey gets and grade A with me.

I've nothing but good things to say about this doctor.
He works hard at being approachable, gives good information
and answers questions thoroughly. I had no problems with
the surgery and was pleased with his work. Everyone at BTC
in Ypsilanti is professional and personable. My experience
has been very positive.

5-22-01 I met with Dr. Neil Marymor at the Bariatric Treatment Center in Ypsilanti, MI. In preparation for that meeting, I had spent many weeks reading and studying everything I could find about the surgery and related issues. I as very nervous while I was waiting to see him, but I immediately began to relax as he began to talk in his soft gentle manner. Dr. Marymor was very informative, and explained the process in an extremely easy to understand format. I appreciated his honest comments about the risks involved and possible complications. I felt Dr. Marymor was personable and expressed a sincere, kind nature. I questioned him about his experience and he told me he has been at the Bariatric Treatment Center in Ypsi since last August. He said he did his first work in this type of surgery during his residency and that he has been in practice for 10 years. He briefly referred to the aftercare visits that were listed on one of his "holdup" sheets. I very much appreciated the fact that he explained to me that as of 2000, my insurance carrier does NOT preapprove this surgery. This was the first time I had been told this information and it came as quite an unfortunate surprise. Dr. Marymore said the people in the Center's insurance review department know what the insurance company requirements are and give in-house approval. Dr. Marymor told me that it typically takes 4 weeks to four months for the paperwork to be processed. I had no idea it would take that long and even though I felt disappointed at the prospect of waiting that long, I am glad I know the reality of the waiting game. At this point, I am impressed with Dr. Marymor. The only thing I forgot to ask him was how many times he has performed this surgery, which I think is a good question.

Dr. Marymor was very personable. I brought my mother with me to the consultation because she is having a hard time dealing with this and I thought it would be good for her to ask all of her questions and meet the doctor. He was very patient with us and asked me and my mother several times if we understood what he was saying and if we had any other questions. He had a booklet of information that he went through line by line and explained everything in detail. He told us the risks and benefits of the surgery, nutritions expectations, post-op care etc. He wanted to know if I had a good support system at home for after the surgery.
My husband wasn't with me because he had to work and he wanted to know his feelings about the surgery. He just started at BTC in July of last year, but I am very confident in his abilities.
POST-OP. Dr. Marymor is the best. He came in before surgery and took a long time to go over the whole procedure again and explained all of the risks again. I told him I wasn't going to change my mind and to get the show on the road. He came in twice a day to check on me. He is very compassionate and has a dry since of humor. I asked him if I could chew gum and I thought he would have a stroke. Absolutely not. Didn't want to go back in after it if I swallowed it. The next day, I gave him all of my dentyne ice that I took with me. He laughed and said thanks. I would recommend him highly to anyone and everyone!

I saw Dr. Marymor for my 6 week and 3 month check-up. He is the nicest man. He is very personable. He told me I was doing great. He also called the next day to let me know that my bloodwork was normal. I think it was the first time in my life that a doctor has called me personally. I was very impressed. I don't have to go back until my one year anniversary, but he said to call hime if I had any problems in the meantime. I can't say enough good about this doctor!

I saw Dr. Marymor twice. Once when I started my journey and then agian when my file was misplaced and so much time had lapsed that I had to have another intial visit.
The first time i saw him he was plesant and answered the few questions I had. When i left his office I was of course filled with high hopes and I had many more questions. So i returned to this web site to find some of my answers. To my disappointment my doctor was not listed on any pages so I was going to switch thinking he must not have been a surgen long.
Then my 2nd visit I was much more prepared and I asked him why he was not listed (after they found my chart 6moths later he was on this web page) He answered my questions honestly but i felf he was upset that I had asked it. I explained to him why and he smiled and continued to answer all of my questions from medical to personal such as why he choose this field.
His office staff.....hummm I think i will leave this one unanswered at this time and hope that I have better things to say after getting to know them better.
We did not talk in great detail about aftercare the basics was mentioned and he answered all of my endless questions
He was very informative with the risks of surgery. I asked him questions like.... whats the greatest /most frequet complication for his patients only. He went down his list and i felt he was being very honest with me.
I can tell you that i went in to this meeting and interviewed my doctor. I guess I really wanted to know why and how he ended up here.
I asked him several questions like....why was there no mention of him before on the web page? Where was he before? How and why this field? What i really wanted to know from him but I did not feel i would get an honest question if i just out right asked was "do you feel this a good surgery.. do you feel you are helping your patients?"
I did not have to ask him because while he was answering one of my many other questions he said(as he raised his hand in the air to show how great it was) "the benifits out weigh the risks" and I was satisfied with that.
So far everything as gone well and i feel very confident with my Doctor :)
I will have surgery on july 13 so I will keep everyone updated.

I'm still getting to know Dr. Marymor but my first impression was quite good. He is part of the BTC group in Yipsilanti and so is very emphatic about aftercare.

I'll post again after I see him next and learn more.

Dr Marymor is nice and makes sure that you understand everything. i have only met with him one time ans he and my husband did most of the talking. I had already researched most things so my husband had lots of questions and I did not.

My first Impression of Dr marymor was that he was a very quiet shy reserved person but after starting to talk to him i was soon to find out that he seems like he knows what he is talking about he also answered every question that i had with answers that i could understand which made me very impressed with him i didnt deal too much with his staff except for just the getting int o the room to see him but what i did deal with them they seemed very knowledgeable about what they were doing and for what reasons i was there and why so far i have nothing but good to say about Dr marymor and i hope that even in the end here i will have nothing but good to say about him i am putting my life into his hands and hopefully he will take the best care of it

Dr. Marymor is a wonderful man. He is extremely thorough and demanding. I appreciate that fact. It is to easy for doctors to just go along with the demands of their patients and he didn't. He wanted certain tests done and until they were accomplished and he spoke with the testing specialists he would not clear me for the surgery, he has now and it is a set date. His chief nurse Ferdinia has the patience of Job and the skin of a Rhino, needless to say it is a good thing she does, I have been very impatient and sometimes a little rude, she just stayed calm, reassuring and when it came down to when clearance was obtained was the first to call and make sure I got the date immediately.
