Myriam Curet Bariatric Surgeon M.D., F.A.C.S.
04-nov 2002
Dr safadi is from the VA in palo alto he is a wonderfull doctor. If you ever condisder having surgery I would diffently look in to going to standford hospital they always know what to do when you feel sick or something is wrong there very good at geting back to you right away. The team of doctors and interns are wonderfull. Trina,judy,lorna the nurses there are well knowledged in the procedure and can answer lots of questions.
Well the fact that she was with Stanford Hospital was a plus, and that she was the head of Inovacive(sp)Sugery didn't hurt either, and when I talked with her the first time she made me feel very comfortable about my decission.
My impression had just gotten stroger. She is a very impressive person.
Her staff is great. I call any time rather it be for appt. or questions If I can't talk to them right then they call me back just as soon as they can.
They strongly recomend a aftercare program, they do have a support group but I live to far away to go. I keep intouch with friends that have had the surgery and obesityhelp.com.
She made sure my husband and myself knew the risks involved, from suregery to vitamins and diet.
I would give her a A++
If I had to choose it would be Surgical Competence, but both is nice.
Excellent clinician - warm without being too intrusive. I felt like I was in good hands, technically. The office staff is very nice and I especially like Triona, the nurse. The only real problem I have with Stanford's "so-called" bariatric program is that it isn't. There is not enough follow up, both medical and psychological. Luckily, I knew what to do in most situations, but this might be hard for naive individuals. No structured after care. Essentially, the operative part of the surgery was very good.
I have not actually met with Dr. Curet. I saw Dr. Baptisita, the intern. This is now my 3rd consultaion with the FINAL surgeon as the first was out of network, the second my insurace was changed and became out of network. I like the things i have heard about Dr. Curet. Her staff is very competent and Lorna the coordinator is extremely helpful. She got me in for my appointment right away and FINALLY I should have a surgery date NEXT WEEK!!
My first impression of Dr.Curet was of a very warm and thorough person. She was very patient to answer any questions I may have had and she wanted to know how much did I know about the procedure. I had met Dr. Curet after Dr. Pamela Foster left to go to another hospital, so I only had 2 visits with Dr. Curet before my surgery, but I had a very good feeling about her. My first impression of Trina, her nurse was that she was not too friendly, but that changed over time. Trina turned out to be very nice. Lorna Bent, who is the sugery coordinator, is a very sweet and warm person. She always has time to listen to your concerns regarding appointments, or the different things you need to fax to the office,etc.
Dr. Curet is one of the nicest Doctors I have ever met and her bedside manner is excellent. After my surgery, Dr. Curet came to see regularly. I really appreciated that and she was very patient in talking to my family members also. She never gave the impression that she was too busy to talk. Her surgical competence was excellent because I am proof, I feel great. I feel surgical competence is better of course, but it helps a whole lot if the bedside manner is also there.
