Excellant surgeon wanting the pt to succeed in the long term.Office staff always very helpful. Misplaced my chart at second visit. So ALWAYS have your own copies of all medical records inc. labs, CXR, EKG, etc. with you. First visit was with an internist that no longer works there. She was scary. Talked at you not to you. Actually only spoke twice to me directly. Did not care for her at all. Cried off and on the whole way home-7hr drive. Of course my personal experience others may have a differant experience all together.Second appt. much better. Met Dr.Curet. She is a beautiful, thin woman. Very matter-of-fact. I love this-she tells you how it is going to be and thats that. No if ands or butts. Which is what is needed an excellant surgeon-not a best friend. Waiting for pre-op appt. 9/1/04 will learn more then. Did discuss risks of sx.Too far for me to attend aftercare @ Stanford. Lots in my own area available so it will be ok. Mike Thompson very helpful with lodging. If traveling far to Stanford expect to make at least four visits before sx date.

I have not met with her yet, I met with Dr. Sanchez first who is an assistant to Dr. Curet. I am suppose to see her on Sept 15, 2004.

Anna Peters who is the Nurse of the Bariatric Clinic is wonderful.
The fact that she really does not deal with the paperwork process flow.
She is willing to help if her office assistants do not do their parts correctly.
She is actually the Nurse who I will be dealing with after surgery. So far she has been a wonderful help as far as giving me a whole lot of information and support groups that I have attended put on by her.

I believe she does have an aftercare program.

Very informative and with a great deal of time and concern.

She emphasises alot on the risks of the surgery before and after if you do not stick with the eating habits.

On a scale of 1 to 5, 5 being the best I would have to say right now she is about a 4.

For someone like me I would prefer both.

First impressions were good...and so far this hasn't changed. Most of the staff is really supportive, though there is one who can be bossy and doesn't listen well. She is an exception though. Overall things are going pretty good, and I havent had any problems with my insurance.

My first impression of Dr. Curet was WOW, she's young... Within in seconds I was extremely happy to know she was my surgeon. This is a long process, and I've seen many doctors and she was by far one of the nicest. To be honest with everyone... I liked everyone at Stanford excepts for Dr. Baptista. I think they throw her in there to see how serious you are about the surgery. If you can make it past her, then they know you really want it. After meeting her I was ready to throw in the towel. I'm extremely happy I didn't and kept going forward. Everyone else is great... There was nothing I didn't like about Dr. Curet. I only had 3 visits to Stanford before my surgery. 2 of those visit I got to meet with Dr. Curet and I really feel like I'm in good hands. My surgery is in 2 days. Tomorrow I start my pre-op which they cover with you. The BIGGEST thing they want you to remember is PROTEIN, PROTEIN and more PROTEIN!!! I will be one of the first patients to have my procedure done at Stanford with a robot. They just got it, and I'm really excited about that. Dr. Curet is to I could tell... ha ha! Anyway, for all of you after me... Tehe, The robot does all the work. Dr. Curet will tell the robot what to do, and she will have a 3D image of everything they are doing to me. When I found out about the robot for a second I was little scared, but as she went into detail I was like "LET'S DO IT!!" It sounds extremely safe and I wouldn't think twice about it... I'm ready!!!

My first impression was she was nice, but rushed. She scared me a little by threating to cancel my surgery date if I didn't loose weight. I was so relieved when my preop appt was with someone other than her. Everyone in the office was exceptionally friendly and helpful not once did I feel inferior in any way. There was nothing I did not like about Dr.Curet. They say she is the best there is what more can you ask for I don't want her to be my shopping buddy, just an awesome surgeon which in my case she has turned out to be! The after care is very much emphasized but I already knew my life would change drastically. And believe me One week out it already has! All risks were explained and she left me with no questions left unanswered. I would rate Dr. Curet a 10
To me Surgical competence and a little bedside manner is the perfect combo!
I have read other reviews of her that don't compare to the way I was treated, but that could be because of personalities or her view of our lack of dedication to what she is trying to help us accomplish. Definately don't rule her out because of a bad review. If you want to be catered to don't expect it...if you want a successful surgery she is the one I would reccomend!

In my opinion, Dr. Curet is very thorough. She took the time to make sure I understood everything and answered any and all questions I had. Dr. Curet is very easy to talk to and the staff there at Stanford are friendly (with the exception of one or two people who tend to be a little rude). I guess they have recently gone through some changes in staff - Lorna, who was just as sweet as can be, has moved to the Cancer Center. Her replacement isn't quite as on top of things as Lorna is but I do have to say that Rochelle is awesome. Very patient and very friendly.

First Impression, very nice, but she was 4 hours late for the visit, so very rushed.

Last visit, 2 hours late, and she was quite rude. I felt very "told off". I said I needed to find a new exercise (as pool is getting cold). She changed my words to I am not co-operating, have stopped excersing. She couldnt care less that osteoarthritis was making walking hard, and finding a new exercise was difficult due to limited finances. She said I was not following the plan, she didnt have any positive comment. Part of this problem may be that the information is first told to an intern then conveyed to her, 2nd hand info can be misinterpreted. She didn;t say anything about my weight loss. My impression has worsened, but she is a very excellent surgeon. Maybe I got her on a bad day. Staff are OK but, they could call ahead to let you know that they are very behind. Aftercare program not very good. Support group seems to be only pre-op people. This site has been more useful, as many others have experienced food sticking, and mucus/frothfy vomiting, yet the surgeon acted as if I was a first.

She really over addressed the risks. The Head of Anasesia said not to worry as she was excellent but conservative. He laughed when I said anal. Overall, I think she is an excellent surgeon, but her bedside manner needs much improvement.

Met with Dr Curet in Oct 03, and this time she was much nicer. She did admit to having had a bad day, but said whatever she said must have worked as I was doing great.

I felt much better this time. She is not concerned about my slow weightloss.

10/8/03
Just got off the phone w/ the patient coordinator & she informed me they might be able to get me in SOONER then 12/17/03 (if I can get all of my pre-op tests completed sooner). WOOHOOO!!
9/25/03
One thing that I felt was rather disturbing is that it felt like the patient coordinator from the surgeons office and the PCPs asst. were giving me the run around on if the operation was going to be covered by my insurence or not & at what % ?!? I really had to pin the 2 of them down to get a straight answer, but i finally did get the YES ITS COVERED answer i was looking for.

I havent seen Dr. Curet or Dr. Baptista. My appointment w/ Dr. Baptista is scheduled for Dec. 03.
I am still in the beginning stages of the journey. But i tell you, it is really reassuring to see that so many people have used her as their surgeon.
Feels like, even here in the Bay Area, I am not alone!

My first impression was okay but not real friendly, over time she did open up some, but her staff is good and mostly see the nurse when coming for appointments. They do tend to change appointments some Ive had 2 or 3 changed for me and not necessarily for a better time for me. She was and is good about followup. Its been 5 months since my surgery and Ive seen her about 4 times and have another appointment in May. Its been 3 months since my last appointment. I feel that Dr. Curiet is better with surgery but okay in the bedside manner department.
