I feel very blessed to have met with Dr. Roslin and that he will be doing my surgery. His reputation speaks for itself. He is very talented and is truly a pioneer in bariatric surgery. He takes great pride in his work, which is a wonderful quality! He was very personable and has a great sense of humor. During the initial consultation he was very informative, explained all the procedures, explained the risks and benefits of each procedure, answered questions, etc. It was very helpful. I met his assistant Catherine who was also very nice and extremely organized. Had my surgery on December 12th and Dr. Roslin was at his best. Surgery went well and he came to see me at the hospital on Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday. Although he only spent a few minutes with me I was grateful that he came in and checked on me. When I had my leak test done, the Dr. there told me that he never sees leaks with Roslin's patients so I was quite pleased. I highly recommend Dr. Roslin for this surgery.
DR ROSLIN IS TRULY A ANGEL........HE IS THE FIRST DOCTOR THAT REALLY CARED ABOUT WHAT I WANTED OUT OF THE SURGERY. HIS OFFICE IS ALWAYS FULL BUT ALWAYS MAKE TIME FOR EACH PATIENT AND NEVER MAKES YOU FEEL AS IF HE IS RUSHED OR BEHIND. HE ALSO IS VERY UP FRONT AND EXPLAINS EVERYTHING...GOOD AND BAD AND GIVES YOU REALISTIC EXPECTATIONS FROM SURGERY. IF YOU HAVE THE CHANCE TO MEET HIM OR ARE THINKING ABOUT MAKING AN APPOINTMENT DO NOT HESITATE YOU WONT BE SORRY. EVEN IF YOU HAVE ANOTHER SURGEON AND ARE LOOKING TO COMPARE OR FOR A SECOND OPINION ...CALL HIS OFFICE....I WENT TO HIM IN OCTOBER FOR MY FIRST APPOINTMENT AND HAD MY SURGERY DATE OF NOV 18TH THE VERY SAME DAY.
Dr. Roslin is a very competent surgeon. His staff is very professional and caring. I was well informed by Dr. Roslin of the risks and benefits of the surgery. Because he is very competent in this field and many seek his services, Dr. Roslin's office is always crowded, but he takes time to address your concerns.
After reading information on Dr. Roslin I knew that he would be the right surgeon for me. My first opinion of him is that he is a straight forward surgeon. He answers all your questions. I did have a problem with the staff. I had to keep calling to verify that they received my information. After going back and forth with katherine his staff member I found I had to take things into my own hand. I found did all the faxing of information to her and the calling back to verify if she received all my information and I had to find out on my own if i was approved by my insurance company which i found more helpful and kind to me. If i had to choose a surgeon all over again I would switch. I never seen Dr. Roslin after my surgery and I was very disappointed. I'm glad that I work in the medical field and was able to complete all I need to have this surgery and to build up my confidence. I could not rate Dr. Roslin because I only met him briefly before my surgery and for 3 minutes on my surgery date.
I met Dr. Roslin for the first time on July 10th for my initial consultation and I was very impressed with the info session that he and his partner, Dr. Kurian gave for the new patients. His office staff, particularly Catherine, was friendly, efficient, no nonsense and I have the utmost confidence that she will get all of the insurance stuff handled with no stress to me. Dr. Roslin was very straightforward about the procedure and was so thorough in the info session and my one-on-one with him that all the bases (for now) were covered. And, I was treated with the utmost respect. I have done my homework and I feel completely confident that I have the best doctor for the job! Anyone considering the procedure should definitely see Dr. Roslin. You won't be disappointed.
I was very impressed by this "Brooklyn Boy." He is very down to earth and straight forward. I have known other's that have consulted with him and found him to be crass, but I found him to be easy going and ready to answer any question.
His office is always very busy and it does take time to get an initial appointment.
His staff is courteous and helpful.
After surgery I had a couple of small problems, either Dr. Roslin or another surgeon on call got back to me immediately.
I had to take a trip into Manhattan the night after my release form the hospital as I was running a high temperature. When I got to the ER, they were expecting me, so my wait to be seen was very short. Tests were run and I was released, though I could have stayed had I wanted to.
Follow up is consistent and he really does recommend the use of a nutritionist.
I have asthma and he insisted that all my preop tests be done by a pulminary specialist associated with Lenox Hill Hospital, that way the doctor would know me and would be available to me in the hospital for post-op care.
Dr. Roslin is very thorough on wxplaining all the benefits and the risks of all the surgery types.
I really like this Doctor and would recommend him to anyone seeking to have this surgical procedure.
I knew of Dr Roslin for some time because he performed the same sugery on my parents. Although a top nthc surgeron, he always answered my emails, answered my ever-present questions, and generally had a pleasant bed side manner. Catherine was also extremely helpful. I prefer a professionalism and thoroughness as opposed to a dotor who was like a friend but was vague. I recommend any and everyone I can to Dr Roslin, I know the office number by heart.
My first impression of Dr. Roslin was that he was an intelligent, experienced, confident doctor. He seemed concerned for me and seemed to understand the problems of the obese. I feel very safe having him perform the surgery. He answered my emails personally. I found Catherine, his Practice Manager, to be very professional. She always returned my phone calls. She knows what she's doing and I enjoyed dealing with her. She won't be warm and fuzzy but she will help you get insurance approval and get a surgery date. What more can you ask for? I did a lot of the leg work but I didn't mind as it made me feel in control. So far I am very happy with my decision to have Dr. Roslin perform the surgery. I hear he is one of the best in the USA as is Lenox Hill Hosp. in Manhattan. I have begun taking daily walks on my treadmill to ensure my lungs are healthy and strong. I am very excited about the surgery. I don't fear death or complications. I can only control so much, the rest I leave up to my higher power. I have only positive thoughts going in. I am so grateful that this life saving tool is available to me.
Post-op thoughts: Dr. Roslin was great. Confident, compitent, thorough, precise. I respect him and would have chosen no other. I HIGHLY recommend him.
I feel very comfortbale with my choice. I hear he's an excellent surgeon. Dr. Roslin is with Lenox Hill, I feel like I'm in good hands there. I have to say this about Dr. Roslin's office staff...I've read terrible things about one person on his staff in particular on this board, and I disagree, I found her to be business-like and professional. So what? I don't want to be her friend. I want a good surgeon and a an office staff that'll get me approved by the insurance company. One of things I liked best about Dr. Roslin was his professionalism and honesty when I asked questions like how many patients have you lost (2 out of 1600), both due to after care complications. And, who are your competitors?
I also consulted with Dr. Garber on LI and was very displeased with him (I was truly shocked that I didn't like him as I'd heard nothing but good things about him).
4/15/03 - My opinion has not changed about Dr. Roslin. 3 words. SIMPLY THE BEST!
