Mathew Rawlins Bariatric Surgeon M.D.
I know that it is time to gather my thoughts about Dr. Rawlins for others to read. It will be hard to do him justice in a paragraph but I want to express how very grateful I am for his kind, compassionate, knowledgeable medical care. He was always completely professional and yet still a warm, kind, humane person. Dr. Rawlins was always honest about the risks and potential complications of surgery. His aftercare program is excellent and makes me feel this is the very finest care available to ensure post-op success. His patients' health is his number one working priority and that is a great gift. I would rate him highly and recommend him to anyone searching for an outstanding surgeon in the Spokane area. His office staff is composed of loving, skilled professionals who share his concerns and do a great job of making you feel that improving your health really matters to them.
I loved Dr. Rawlins immediately. He was very personable and caring as well as had a good surgery history. His staff was the same way and the main person you worked with had gone through the surgery 3 years ago so had first hand knowledge of surgery and how to help keep the weight off.rnrnGlad I choose him, his staff, and Sacred Heart Hospital who were also a GREAT group of people to have care for you!
I met Dr.Rawlins on January 16th 2004, I liked him right away, and then even more when I found out he was the same religion as me (LDS). His office staff was nice. It was nice to meet Carol who had also had the surgery the year before and who shared her before and after pictures with me and my Husband. Any future patients of his will definately like him,he was very down to earth and honest. He addressed all my questions as well as my Husbands questions, I rate him a top notch Dr.with his bedside manner and his surgical competency. I would definately recommend him to anyone searching for a surgeon.Of course these are my opinions and I am making no statements about what other people might experience.
My first impression was of a warm and caring person who is dedicated to his work-that hasn't changed! His office staff are excellent as well.I did have a bit of trouble getting people to call me back a couple of times, but that was just a minor annoyance.I was a bit leery going in to talk with the nutritionist, but she put me at ease and was enormously helpful.I really have no complaints at all about any of them and would highly recommend them to anyone!!They do have a structured aftercare program, as well as once a month meetings that are open for anyone to attend. The risks and the benefits of this surgery were discussed at length, and explained well and in perspective.Overall Dr. Rawlins and his staff would get a 101% rating- he excells in both surgical competence and bedside manner.
Dr. Rawlins was great. My first impression was that he was so young. He was caring, warm, informative, and it made me feel good that he was impressed with the amount of knowledge I had going into this. He was amazed at a couple of the questions that I asked, too. The office staff was good humored, friendly, and efficient. He has a 5-year aftercare program, which I think is important, and there is a number that you can reach him at for any serious concerns. He will get the message and call you right back...even if it's a weekend. I would recommend Dr. Rawlins to anyone who is seeking WLS. He performs only one type of surgery: the RNY proximal...usually lap, but open if necessary.
He was very caring and spent time answering all my questions. My impression of him got better over time. His office staff is also very helpful. There really wasn't anything I didn't like about him. Future patients should know they will get kind and compationate care from Dr. Rawlins and his staff. He does emphasize aftercare. I am attending his support group and seeing him next week for my 6 months check up. He was very up front about the surgical risks, and gave me information to take home with me, and suggested I learn all I could before surgery. On a scale of 1 to 10, I'd rate him a 10. Nothing is better than surgical competence, but his bedside manner is great also.
