I was very pleased when I met Dr. Sherrod. I had heard about him via this web site and since he was the closest doctor that did the lap-band surgery I went ahead and called for an appointment. My impression has just gotten better and better. He is a very caring doctor and set me right at ease. Discussing my obesity has always been a touchy subject. He was quite sure this Lap-band would do the trick for me and I agree.
He has all his patients adhere to a pre-op diet and if you do not follow the diet you will have the surgery but wake-up with NO lap-band. It needs to be followed so the liver shrinks and it is easier to apply the band to the stomach. I will return in about 10 days for my first follow up and will take it from there. I already exercise 3 times a week at Curves and he wants me to exercise 5 times a week so I will. I will go back for a fill when necessary.

My first impression of Dr. Sherrod was one of comfort. Although I had completed what I thought was all my research for this procedure, he continued to enlighten me. My time and effort into researching this type of surgery made it simpler for me to understand Dr. Sherrod during my visits with him.
His office staff is remarkable. Always so responsive. Between Dr. Sherrod, his staff, and all the staff at St. David's, they've made this an easy journey. Things just happened to move along quickly.
Dr. Sherrod did emphasize the importanance of aftercare (i.e. exercise, eating healthy). Support Group meetings are held at St. David's Hospital on a monthly basis and Dr. Sherrod encourages pre- and post-op patients to attend.
During my pre-op appointment, Dr. Sherrod addressed the risks involved with this procedure. But due to me not having any co-morbidities at this time, he did mention how excited he was about performing this surgery on me. Apparently it was going to be 'the' easiest one thus far.
Overall, I would recommend Dr. Sherrod to anyone contemplating having LapBand Surgery. As mentioned before, they took care of everything and kept it all running smoothly.

I went to Dr.Sherrod because I had heard that he was VERY supportive and understanding concerning lab band surgery.
The office staff is very nice and supportive. They were able to push my insurance paperwork through within 3 weeks!
After my GP refused to write me a letter of medical necessity- Dr.Sherrod wrote a 3 page letter to my insurance company and I was approved.
A new support group has been started at St.David's Hospital in Austin for patient's who have had lap band surgery.
Overall I have been very pleased with my care. The staff at St.David's couldn't have been more supportive-my whole experience has been awsome!
