Larry Hobson Bariatric Surgeon M.D.,F.A.C.S.
I didn't actually meet Dr. Hobson prior to surgery. Dr.Duncan is the face of the group, and he has a team of surgeons that work with him. I believe there are two others beside Dr. Duncan. I will say if you are looking to get to really know your surgeon, this group is not for you. But, Dr. Duncan's group has been doing this surgery for years and has pioneered several techniques. I highly recommend them. I did see Dr. Duncan, Dr. Hobson and Dr. Speights after my surgery in the hospital. I don't think this happens for everyone. You are mainly visited by PAs, Interns, and their Bariatric Physician. But, you do get visited often. The team is going to make sure you are doing well.
They really explain complications with you prior to surgery and stress the importance of aftercare.
Regarding the office staff, Yakima, Jackie, Shona, Don, Gayle...everyone is very, very nice. I was very pleased with the level of professionalism and customer service they provided.
My first impression of Dr. Duncan was that he is very serious and knows his stuff, I met him first at the Informational meeting they have for people who are interested in WLS. Whe I had my consult it was with Dr. Fields, His staff member Yakimas is the best!! Very patient and answers your questions and is very helpful. Jennifer has been great as well. Aftercare is explained in depth as well as the fact this is "major surgery" and only a tool to help, this is not a get rid of weight quick plan. Dr. Hobson, Dr. Scott performed my surgery. Everything went well. I did not get a chance to meet Dr. Hobson before or after. I met Dr. Scott and Shannon the PA before, both were very nice. The Dream team took care of me.

In the two post-op appointments that I've had so far, Dr. Hobson has been very attentive, understanding, patient and caring. He makes wonderful eye contact which is very important to me and I'm honestly pleased that I had a 'physician switch' in the hospital. I'm able to receive the personal one-on-one attention and extra time that I may not have been able to receive from Dr. Duncan due to his busy schedule. Dr. Hobson's surgical competence is excellent (I recovered quickly with zero complications or issues) and his bedside manner is great. Overall, I would give Dr. Hobson a great, big 10.</font></font>
I spent hours chosing Dr. Titus Duncan as my surgeon, but Dr. Larry Hobson actually performed my surgery. Peachtree Bariatrics works as a team, so if you want individualized care, this will not be the choice for you. Dr. Duncan was in charge of the seminar. Dr. Speights handled my consult. Dr. Johnson saw me at the pre-op. Dr. Norman and interns handled the hospital room visits. Joyce, from Peachtree Bariatrics, told me that there was a 50/50 chance that the surgeon would be Dr. Duncan, but she reassured me that Dr. Hobson was a very competent and CARING surgeon. At that point, I placed it in my Lord's hands. I am very pleased with my results and am thankful to Dr. Hobson and the whole team. I still don't know what Dr. Hobson looks like. I wish I had been able to meet him before the surgery. I personally found the "Duncan" team to be outstanding. My only complaints... the hurry up and wait (for hours) office visits and their paperwork processing system (took months). Their faxing machines are obviously not the best. You do have to be patient. All in all, I would choose Peachtree Bariatrics again and still highly recommend them!!! I met Dr. Hobson at my three month check up! Not only is he an extremely talented and gifted surgeon (IMHO), he is also a sweetie! He even gave me a hug!
I originally chose Dr. Duncan's office because I had heard so many wonderful things about him. His associate, Dr. Hobson actually did my surgery and he did a great job from what I can tell. Everyone in the office from receptionists to medical assistants, etc. has been great! They have all been very helpful and very pleasant to deal with. They are encouraging and supportive and I could not ask for any better. They are very thorough and provide good aftercare. Dr. McCowan(sp.) is a hoot but I love his attitude. He saw me after my surgery and he did not give me any slack. I need someone to be hard nosed so he works well for me. From what I can tell all the surgeons in this group are very competent, have great bedside manner, and as an added bonus are nice to look at too! :)
