I had my surgery with Dr Wetter in May 2003. He was very nice and supportive. He did not make me feel bad about being obese. I got a list of the requirements needed before I came in to see him, so I had everything lined up so I wouldn't have to wait too long to have my surgery. His staff was very nice. His office furniture was very large and the bathroom was set up for very large people. He answered all my questions and let me make my own decisions without any pressure. I saw him regularly after my surgery and continue to see him once a year. Overall, I rate him excellent. He is an excellent surgeon and has a great bedside manner. I have not had any complications since my surgery and have kept the weight off. This surgery is not a solution to obsesity, it is only a tool to help you lose the weight. If you are not willingly to watch your calorie intake and exercise don't bother having it done.
Dr Wetter is a real professional in this field. I found him to be easy to talk too and he took the time to explain things to me about my own issues. I had a lap band done in Mexico 2 years ago that was faulty and had to be replaced. Then when it was I had problems affording the fills. It just did not work for me. He took the time to explain why the band would not work as well as the GBP in my personal case.
He was not a "chit chattter", which was fine for me. I went to him becasue I wanted someone who was an expert in their field...the most important part of this entire experience, was done when I was out cold...and that's when Dr. Wetter really does his thing. He had to remove my band then do the GPB.
This surgery was virtually painless for me as was the entire recovery. I followed his directions to a T. That is important for anyone deciding to do this. I trust him and his expereince and would highly recommend him to anyone who wants an expert to do this important surgery. He has a wonderful reputation amoung his peers and my cadiologist referred to him as the "Guru" who is doing some really good work!
Dr. Wetter is a really nice person. He has a great staff. Yvette was very helpful getting the insurance to get in gear! I guess what I like least is that I feel a little rushed in visits, but he is busy! Future patients should know that he is strict, NO CARBS! I would rate him pretty high as surgeons go. I had NO complications at all! The hospital is wonderful.
Dr. Wetter has been fantastic! He's exuberant, helpful and obviously a very skilled surgeon! I picked him out for his experience not knowing what to expect of him as a person. Now that I'm post op I can't say enough good about him. My surgery was positively smooth sailing for me and I know it's because he's so good at this.
His staff (Donna and Yvette especially) are a wonder. How they get so much done and still manage to give you a smile and call you back everytime you call is beyond me but THANK YOU!! And Yvette... special kudos to you for working through a tough insurance mess.
By the way... he's easy as pie to deal with - just do what he asks and all will go well - especially the pre-surgery weight loss! He asked me to spread the word - here I am spreading it 'round! Thanks again Dr. Wetter!!
I met with Dr Wetter in early December, and found him to be informative, cordial, and confident. His office staff represents his qualities well. He spent close to an hour with me and my wife explaining the surgery, discussing life long implications, and answering questions. I was very impressed with his manner, and actually felt toward the end that I was taking advantage of his kindness and that it was time to end the appointment. After my appt with him, I met with Donna DeKay; she is the Dietician in the office, and the Bariatric Surgery coordinator. She too was very likable, while being very professional, and informative.
Dr. Wetter seems to be very calm and matter-of-fact. He seems capable, and has done many lap RNYs. I did not feel like he was in a hurry- my husband and I had lots of questions, and he took lots of time to answer them. His office seems really busy (I think he shares the office and staff with other doctors who have other specialties).
Whay can I say about Dr Wetter except he is a wonderful surgeon. My Doctor said I needed the surgery but only if I used Dr wetter. Let me tell you he is a tough cookie. If you do not follow the rules and are not sincere he knows. He tells it to you straight and if your serious it is not a big deal but a help and boost. After surgery he was so kind and caring. I was given a stuffed Frog while in the hospital and when he came in he asked if the Frog was ready to go home. I always knew what to expect and what was happening and what I could not do. It has helped me to be a success since May 17th I am down 100 pounds. I have not one complaint about his office staff or him and I loved the care at the Burlingame hospital. I was so cared for.
Thanks to you all.
First impression was a no nonsense guy. He explained very well the surgery. Told me I would be a good canidate. He kept on top of me and if I did't do what I was suppose to do he let me know about it. The office staff is great very helpful and kind. What I liked best about him was what I did't like if that makes any sense. He did't let me get away with anything.
He is a very knowledgable doctor and I am soooo glad I was told about him. My surgery was on a tuesday and I was back to work on monday part time. I kept asking him if he really did anything to me! I had no and I mean not one problem. I heard all the horror stories but I never once threw up or had any problems because I did exactly what I was suppose to do maybe. My surgery was Nov. 2003 and I have lost 110 pounds, from a size 22 to a 6/8. In Dec. 2004 I had a tummy tuck with Dr. Rosenfield and I look at my old pictures and can't beleive that was me.
His after surgery program was very clear and I stuck to it. He explained all the risks and yes I was scared but I was more afraid of what would happen if I stayed the way I was.
Overall rating is excellent. He is a real professional and I would't want anyone else.
When last I saw him he congradulated me and I would recommend him highly.
