Dr Warnock is a wonderful kind man who helped me change my life. He draws a picture on the exam table paper of what he is going to do with your stomach. He answers all your questions and asked my husband if he had any questions. His office staff is more business, but they also are very helpful. Debbie just worked for several months to get my insurance to pay for adominalplasty for me. So thanks to them my hernia is repaired and the excess skin is gone. I had this surgery on Jan 15, 2003. A good anniversary present!! Future patients should know that he has all his patients up at 5:30am taking a shower before he comes in around 7:00am. And that is the morning after surgery!!! All the tubes hanging out and everything. It is a good idea, but, I must say I thought they were crazy. Dr Warnock started monthly
meetings in 2001 right after I had surgery and continues to have them and he has been at every meeting I have attended to answer any questions from hopeful and post patients. He talked about the risk of surgery for me at my age and he really was pro-surgery. I would rate him on a scale of 1 to 10 at a 9. He a great surgeon and his bedside manner is also good, sometime it is rushed, but I was glad he got me into surgery promptly and I figure he is rushed because he has someone waiting to have surgery. When I had to go back through ER he met me there and I saw him several times a day until they were able to find and take care of my problem. So I feel I will alway be able to go to him and he will have time for me.
The first thing I thought about him was that he was very nice man that cares about his patents. The next thing is that he is no nonsense kind of guy he will tell you it's his way or no way. That fine with me at least I could tell that he cares about you.
Next thing is his office staff they are great I couldn't be more impressed with them on my first visit to the office Dr. Warnock was running behind on his appiontment times and we had to wait until 6:00pm to see him and they stayed there without complaining one bit they also treated me And my family very nice.Debbie his secertary is wounderful she told me that she would have my letter to the insurance company out within the week and she did, then the next thing you know I was approved.
I was really impressed with Dr. Warnock. He first told me that I was 120 pounds overweight and then asked why I wanted to lose weight and why I was thinking of a bypass. I explained my feelings to him and he listened to me with patience and understanding. He then thoroughly went through the surgery procedure. He then requested that I go to the MPEC for the Women's Expo and talk to post-op patients. My husband and I went and were greeted warmly by these women. Thank you Kim for all the GREAT info. I appreciated it. If I had any reservations Kim answered and made me feel absolutley 100% sure about having this procedure. My husban is VERY supportive and his questions/concerns were all answered by Kim as well. Now all I have to do is wait for Dr. Warnocks office manager to get the paperwork into Tricare and get their approval. FINGERS AND TOES CROSSED! I am really hoping to get the surgery scheduled for March.
Dr. Warnock is a kind and informative physician. I believe he intends to take care of his patients in every way possible. I have a true vote of confidence in him or he would not be doing my surgery. His experience of over 20 years was a big determining factor in my decision of choosing him as my physician.I believe his competent and gracious office staff is a direct result of who he is. I am looking forward to my day which will change me in a positive way for the rest of my life. When Dr. Warnock smiles his kind warm smile and says "it is about quality of life" I agreed and had no other thought but YES!! My first visit was on Jan.23, 2003 and everything is approved and my surgery is Feb.12, 2003. Now that is getting on the ball wouldn't you say.
I will update everyting when I get home from my surgery.
Sandy
Dr. Warnock has a passion for giving his patients all the information, attention, and tools he can in order for them to move forward in their new life.
He was very informative as to the risks of surgery as well as the post-op risks. I have felt really comfortable in his care.
Dr. Warnock's office had moved since my first pre-surgery date visit. Going back for my pre-op visit was a little disatisfying as I was not given any information packets, ie vitamins to take, exercise needed. This is the only thing negative so far.
1. Impression: Warm, spritual, comfortable, knowledgable, open, inviting and listens.
Dr.Warnock's office staff are a hard working, pleasant, helpful and patient oriented group.
Future patients should know they will be in the best of hands/care with Dr. Warnock and his staff.
Emphatically emphasizes aftercare with his patients. I am thus far awaiting my surgery to be performed on Feb 24, 2003, and have attended one support meeting so far where he and his patients post op have impressed the aftercare issue.
Dr. Warnock addresses very much so the risk ussues of surgery and gives his patients in my experience very in depth information pertaining to the risk issues upon one's initial consult appointment. With regard to an aftercare program, I will know more of this after Feb 24, 2003, but I am assured by several of his postop patients I am aquainted with, Dr. Warnock provides this. Without a comparisson in this field of medicine,I would rate Dr. Warnock a 10 out of a possible 10.
I met Dr. Kenneth Warnock about six years ago. He removed a tumor from my stomach. I asked him then about WLS and he said he thought I was a good candidate for the surgery. My insurance flat out refused to pay. I did not pursue it further.
Over the next few years I continued to gain weight and gather health problems. I am diabetic, hypertensive, had GERD (reflux), had abnornal sleep study and severe asthma.
In 1999, I started working at the Clinic where Dr. Warnock had his practice. I started researching WLS then. I talked to about 10 of his patients, read books, and surfed the net daily. After years of reading, wishing, and praying for insurance approval. I talked with my PCP and got a referral to see Dr. Warnock. I was so happy. He spent about an hour or more explaining to me what I needed to do, the procedure, its risks and benefits. He told me to go home, talk about it with the most important people in my life, and let him know what I wanted to do. I had already made up my mind and told him so. His office submitted the paperwork on September 25, 2002. On October 22, I had an approval. I could not believe it happened, and so quick. I was upset that I could not have the surgery until January 2003, but let me tell you, the months really flew by.
To make a long story short, after a really careful work-up by lung and heart doctors I was ready to go and had surgery on January 13.
Dr. Warnock was totally up front about the complications and things that could happen during surgery. He never tried to convince me that this is what I needed. I had to truly make this my decision.
He is a very good, comforting surgeon who I think has only the best interest of his patients in mind. If I had to do it all over again, I would choose Dr. Kenneth Warnock again.
I feel that he has truly made a difference in my life by having the tools to make this work for me (his experience and caring).
His office staff is overworked as he is the only doctor in this area that does this surgery. He has since parted from the Clinics of North Texas and has his own practice, which is going to be great.
His staff is wonderful and was never mean or upset no matter how often I called to see if my approval letter was in!
He has such a wonderful bedside manner, is very competent, and fully disclosed everything that could possibly happen during, after, and in the years to come from having this surgery.
He is well respected by the community and his peers.
This was not an easy decision for me. One of his first questions was had I tried dieting, and exercising, and if so, for how long. I was irritated at first as he could look at me and see that it had not worked! He says to have WLS you have to be willing to try, try, and stick to it. All the leg work I had to do, all of the insurance questions, and other office visits and tests are to be sure that it is not a glandular problem. Do not be upset. If you do not have the ability to stick to the plan by doing a lot of your own leg work, calling the insurance company etc., how will you be able to stick to this lifestyle change?
I am a registered nurse and work with Dr. Warnock on a regular basis. My insurance almost requires that I use him. I do believe that he is a talented surgeon with better than average outcomes. Dr. Warnock's office staff is great and they do seem to go out of there way to make you feel comfortable. I believe Dr. Warnock feels it is his mission from God to help his bariatric patients. I do not know how he is with follow-ups, since I never see that end of it--yet. I would tell future patients to research your surgeon and ask, ask, ask questions because this is the biggest life change you will ever make. I think Dr. Warnock's aftercare comes from more of a surgical standpoint, but does require a nutritional, respiratory, psychiatric consult before surgery. Dr Warnock does discuss the risks and changes in your body that will occur with the surgery. I would rate Dr. Warnock a solid ten so far. Dr Warnock's bed-side manner is great and I would say his surgical skill is better than average.
I can't say enough good things about him!
He is just wonderful! I would give him a perfect score on being my doctor!
He is always quick in and out but if you have anything to ask, he'll stay as long as you need!
The nurses at the hospital like him too....they say he has "standing orders for EVERYTHING"....
Debby does all the insurance paperwork,,,,she's great but very busy!
Dr. Warnock was very upfront on all the negatives, he said he didn't want someone to say "that Dr. Warnock is a real bum....he didn't tell me about this or that!" I liked his straight-fowardness.
HE IS A CHRISTIAN....AND THE FIRST THING HE SAID WAS "I tell all my patients to PRAYERFULLY consider this procedure"
Worth the trip from ANYWHERE! (940)766-8725
I was extremely impressed with Dr. Warnock. His office was packed and I was the next to the last patient; I was feeling that he would probably rush me since it was so late in the day. I was pleasantly surprised to see him sit down and be willing to take all of the time necessary. I told him that I would have to be self-pay because I knew that my insurance would not pay. I told him upfront that I had been researching for about a year and knew that I was ready for the surgery. He was so kind and explained all of the risks and aftercare that was required. He obviously was a Christian; I am so thrilled with that. His life is one to be admired; I have probably been to doctors before who have been Christians but I was never sure because they never said anything that would indicate that. Dr. Warnock told me that he wanted me to carefully and prayerfully consider the surgery. It was late in the day and he told me to call Debbie the next day. She has always been so sweet and always returns my calls. She had a surgery date for me within two weeks.
