DR. Z is the best. I know he has many many patients but he has a way of making you feel you are the only one.His office staff is top notch. Kathy is an angel. Thank you to the whole staff.

Extremely through. Has a great sense of humor and really does care about the patient. At first you may feel just like another number, but once your in his hands so are well taken care of. I had some serious complications after the surgery but felt I was in the best hands possible. I never questioned thier expertise.

Everything was explained fully.

Excellent Doctor.

Surgical competence

I met with both Dr. Zuccala and Dr. Garcia during my consult. Dr. Garcia explained the entire surgery, answered all of my questions, and gave me a quick exam. Then Dr. Zuccala came in with a resident, and also went over the surgery with me. The risks, benefits, etc. They wanted to make sure I understood what I am getting into.

He did emphasize the importance of aftercare, a lifelong commitment to taking vitamins, and that I need to attend the support group after surgery as well.

The office is very busy, but the whole staff is very nice. They answer all your questions without making you feel like you ask too many. I am also very impressed with the efficiency of his office. Overall, I would rate him and his office as great.

I though he was awesome from the second I met him. He has a wonderful sense of humor but also on the flip side takes his job very seriously. I have the utmost respect for him and refer anyone who asks about the surgery to him.

He is very, very serious about the after care and tells you that it is not a walk in the park and if you want to achieve your goals you will have to work hard to reach them. He advised me completely of all risks and possible complications (which thank God I have had none)and the support group that his team heads up is amazing..

I feel that his bedside manner ans surgical competence are both awesome.

I owe my new life to him..

I was impressed with Dr. Zuccala from the beginning. His staff is very nice.

I found him to be pleasant and informative
his office staff is very professional, it took way to long to get in to see him, having to attend the support group meetings was very helpful. I liked least the length of time to get the initial visit, the need to be on a strict diet prior to having the surgery (seems like you should get a break prior to surgery but no way). Mostly the length of time it takes to get a date once you make a decision.

1st impression was that he might be a great surgeon, but as a businessman, the office was way behind in getting to see people.

Now that I have had my surgery, I have had not one single complication, no nausea, no vomiting, no intolerance of foods, NOTHING. That has to be a positive recommendation for his skills!

On the follow up visits, he is always setting time aside for any questions, no matter how silly they might sound, he takes them all seriously.

He is both encouraging and realistic. My life is my own again and I have Dr. Z to thank!!

My first impression of Dr. Zuccala was extremely positive! Over time, I realized that not only is he a tremendously skilled surgeon but that he is a compassionate man who truly cares about the whole person and his or her family. Dr. Zuccala's office staff could not be nicer to or more willing to accomodate patients. Phone calls are returned and even taken! If I had to say what I liked least about Dr. Zuccala, it would have to be the number of people who are training with him and come in the examining room. Although I always say yes, sometimes it gets a bit crowded and I feel like a "science project".
Future patients should be aware that this practice is growing by leaps and bounds and that they may have more time delays in their journey through the process of medical clearance and insurance approval. The other thing they should know is that Dr. Zuccala has a fantastic support group and he is very involved as are his nurse and office staff. He emphasizes that aftercare is just as important as the pre-surgery appointments and he makes sure that potential patients are aware of that before he does the surgery. Dr. Z has an excellent team of specialists that include a nutritionist, psychiatrist, cardiologist, pulmonologist. Every specialist that I have seen has been "on the same page" as Dr. Zuccala and it is obvious that they work in tandem.
Dr. Z addresses the risks of surgery quite clearly, patiently, and without confusion. I would rate him an outstanding surgeon and a rare one who happens to have a delightfully, supportive bedside manner.

I heard him present on the after-effects of bariatric surgery on relationships, family, coworkers. Very psychological and very on target. I have since met him and he is a direct, dedicated man with a good sense of humor. I feel confident having the procedure done by him.

His nurse Terry is very good and even-tempered; I like one of the dieticians Nancy better than the other but both are good. His coordinator Kathy is very hard-working and dedicated in a pressure cooker atmosphere where everybody wants things yesterday, but I do find her moods to be variable and she sometimes speaks in a snappish or patronizing way that I find very irritating. But that may just be chemistry--many folks seem to be crazy about her, and she certainly gets the job done.

Aftercare is a big deal with Dr Z and he has put together a powerful group of post ops and a very well attended monthly support meeting. Dr ZS spells out the risks from most dangerous to less so, and insists that it will not work without significant commitment to life change on your part.

Finally met him (Dr. Zuccala). He seemed nice enough, it's just that this process takes so long and I get so frustrated. I finally have a surgery date of June 30th. I will let you know how it goes. WISH ME LUCK !!!!!
