Hi, my first impression of Dr. Zuccala is that he is very serious about what he does, and is very honest to his patients. My impression over time has changed somewhat only because i know him a bit better, i have the utmost respect for him.The office staff has been wonderful, any time i ever call with a question , they all work on getting the answer and it's always a very quick response.Well as far as what other future patients should know is that Dr. Zuccala znd his staff will take the best care of you. Dr.Zuccala emphasizes after care very much, it is as important as the surgery itself.I go to the bariatric support group meetings every month and i always get a lot out of them. Also he is always there if you have a question about anything anytime day or night, which makes me feel comfortable. They are very up front about the risks of having surgery, but everyone has to decide for themselves whether the risks outwegh the benefits of surgery. I would rate Dr. Zuccala and his staff as a 10 on a 1 to 10 scale.Well to me his Surgical competence is much more important, but both were awsome.

My first impression of Dr Zuccala was that he was a caring person, he seemed really interested in what brought me to that first meeting with him and he remained like that the whole time, it wasn't like he was trying to hook me and then he changes into a meat market surgeon before my eyes...everyone on his staff is so wonderfull they work together to make it as smooth of a transition for you as possible, their support during and after surgery is second to none they make sure you know all aspects of the surgery and the aftercare backwards and forwards and their support group is fantastic! just when you think you are alone in how you are feeling, you go to a support group meeting and come out of there with a new outlook on everything. I love Dr Z and everyone in his office, they gave me back my life, how do you ever thank someone for that.

Dr Zuccala was very patient and kind each time I met with him prior to surgery. He explained the procedure very clearly, including all potential complications. He stated that he would be there to get me through any complications and he was true to his word. He remained patient with me in the hospital at a time that I would have tested anyones patience. Terry, Cathy, and the insurance person all did their jobs very well.Aftercare is emphasized preop and is carried through post op. Support group meetings are very helpful. I would rate DR Zuccalo 10 out of 10. I just wanted to take a minute to state that I recently saw Dr. Zuccala for my 2 year visit. I was made to feel like I was able to ask any question that came to my mind and the answers I received were not rushed in any way. I was made to feel that my followup care was just as important as my pre-op or in hospital care. In looking back on my choices, I would not change anything.

Dr Zuccala is Awesome!! I can't say enough nice things about him. I have had to have two more surgeries and he and his staf never made me feel like I was a bother. He never denounced how I felt or made me feel like what I was going thru wasn't as important to him. He and his staff are the best!!!

Everyone in her office were extremely helpful.

There wasn't anything I disliked about my surgeon. There was an aftercare program but I live 3 hours away and it wasn't convenient, especially in the winter.

She was very upfront and honest with me about the risked I faced.

My first impression of Dr. Zuccala was of a quiet man. He is extremely knowledgable and genuinely cares about bariatrics and morbidly obese people. He is overwhelmed with the response he has gotten from the number of patients in Western Connecticut but he is dedicated to helping all of those he can. He says over and over again that he will not operate on anyone unless he feels that they will be successful. This is a breath of fresh air since there are some surgeons that are greedy and will operate on anyone regardless of the risks/outcome.

Originally, his office staff (particularly Kathy G) was extremely supportive. They were a well-oiled machine and easily made patients feel good about making such a life-altering decision. Currently, things have been going downhill...there are several factors in this to include the change in personnel and the overwhelming response to the program. They need organization...and soon.

The aftercare program is still in baby stages even though he has been doing surgery here for three years. Those of us who have gone through the surgery are now trying to jump start the Bariatric Program by creating a newsletter, organizing support group activities and researching other programs for constructive ideas. This is a constant work in progress and it will get better...the key is patience. The Bariatric Support Group members really help each other get through the most difficult times...you are never alone unless you want to be. I think our Buddy Program will be the best around since we are taking our time working out all the kinks.

I rate Dr. Zuccala with a 12 for surgical competence and bedside manner. He just needs to find the right combination of people to surround himself with that's as dedicated as he is. I would recommend anyone to see him and/or his associate, Dr. Laura Choi.

Dr. Zuccala is funny, smart and extremely professional (and I think I have a big crush on him). He was informative and amazing from our first meeting. He is extremely strict about the work you have done before the surgery (psychiatrist, pulmonologist, blood work, etc.) and you MUST quit smoking. After surgery is just as important. You see him after 3 weeks, 3 months, 6 months, 9 months, 12 months and then every year after that. I have found from listening to other people that he is a very well respected surgeon in the community as well he should be.

Everyone on staff treats you like they would treat anyone that comes to the office not just a obese person.

He was just a simple nice guy, who happens to be an excellent surgeron. I cannot say enough nice about him, doing my surgery lap was hard because of scarring from previous surgeries etc. he still did it and I can only IMAGINE the pain he has saved me. 5 days out - I've been home for over 24 hours, I feel good, I don't have pain, I am sore of course - but god I think he must be one of the best at what he does!!
