I owe my life to this man, I cannot say enough about the total feeling of care you get from the staff and Dr Caruana. I have lost so much wqeight and gained so much good health from them. They have a complete staff, gym, nutrition, nursing and they see to it your needs are met. If you choose them you will not ever regret it. They are simply the best.
I have to say I was a little nervous about going to see Dr Caruana for the first time, but there was no reason to be.The Doctor was very personable and very concerned about my health. The staff is very no nonsense and to the point.I went in a couple of weeks pre-op for a combo nutrition and excercise class which pretty much answered all the questions I had about either. The day of surgery I was very nervous, but again there was no reason to be. As I was being wheeled down to the O.R.here came Dr Caruana and His P.A. Mark with high fives it eased my mind and made me laugh.Them and Audry are very easy to work with and I would recommend them very highly.
My first impression of Dr Caruana was that he is professional and honest. His office runs like a well-oiled machine. I can definitely tell that he has done this many times before. I feel completely comfortable with him handling my surgery. His emphasis on after care is extremely important. I would rate him a perfect 10. His surgical competence and bedside manner are great.
I met with Dr. Caruana on June 7th. I have researched WLS for the past three years. His facility/Office is absolutely wonderful. Includes a conference room, cafe and work out area. Personal trainers are available before/after surgery. I was totally inspired and felt good when I arrived. I did not feel out of place as many people who carry the extra load may in many offices/buildings.
I have seen the work he has done and was able to speak directly with some of the post op patients. I made up my mind January 2005. I called his office and they were very helpful offering information needed prior to seeing the Dr.
I Online course required. I had a Behavioral health evaluation and have the support of my MD. Dr. Caruana and staff were very thorough and extremely helpful in assisting me obtain the needed paperwork for the initial consultation. I liked him and he answered many questions and concerns I had. I did not feel rushed.
I am waiting to have some testing for clearance ie. a dopler, nutritional evaluation and consultation. I am required to attend a support group meeting next Tuesday with other possible surgery candidates. I am anxious to begin this journey as soon as possible.
My first impression was that he was that his behavior was very professional and he doesn't waste time chitchatting. Perhaps he is different if the patient instigates more conversation. The office staff is far more personable. I've only seen the Dr. one on one twice, first consultation and when being released after surgery. The PA has taken care of followup visits.
I like Dr. Caruana, he was very pleasant and informative. My fiance and I are getting ours done at the same time, so he took us both in one room so we could discuss things with him. He came across as a Doctor that knows what he is doing and that he likes to make you feel comfortable, and make sure that all of your questions have been answered. I haven't had any problems with his staff, except being rushed but they are very busy. Aftercare will primarily be with his assistant. From what I understand we will see him a total of 3 times. The initial consult, the informative meeting a week prior to surgery, and the surgery its self. He told us that my fiance may have to stay in the hospital a couple more days more than me because of his size, but that he didn't see any reason why we should have any problems. We did address the sleep apnea issue with him so he has referred us for testing because we have never had it done before. I would rate Dr. Caruana high on the doctor scale as far as I can tell right now. I have heard nothing but good things about him at my support group. I hope this helps.
5/13/05-Post-op 12 days, my first appt after the surgery was yesterday and my doctor is very happy for both my fiance and I and said we are doing great.
Dr Caruana was a very nice man. I came to his office with a list of questions and he took the time to answer all of them. His office staff is just OK...they are not overly friendly and they run the office like boot camp. I know it's all routine for them but for me it was a big moment and I thought maybe they could of had a little more patience. I have a lot of confidence in Dr. Caruana, he operated on my best friend and cousin in the past and they both have done well.
My first impression of dr caruana was that he really wanted to help me lose the weight so that i could be healthy
my impression didn't change really but the last time i saw him was after the surgery in the recovery room and cant really remember alot and haven't seen him since have been seeing audrey I would like to see him to thank him for helping me
his office staff is pretty friendly one lady was kind of rude but other than that they are nice
just that i have seen him only twice would like to see him more
future patients should know he is very nice and does the best job ever he is very experienced as well as his associates. they are the best in my book
he makes sure that you know how important it is to take vitamins and special care of yourself before and after surgery and to exercise and eat well
yes he does have a structured aftercare program
when i saw him for the first time he went over everything that i needed to know about risks and benefits
if i had to rate him overall i would have to say he is a 8
surgical competence , and bedside manner is important but i would have to say surgical competence is the most important and that he has both
