Dr. Schram is the sweetest man ever. His welcoming smile and gentle nature is so overwhelmingly wonderful. He took the time to go over everything with me in detail in the beginning and even throughout the surgical process was kind and thorough when addressing issues regarding my surgery. rnrnDr. Cam (I think that's how it's spelled) works with Dr. Schram and I did have a couple of encounters with him, not only at the Barix Center but on the phone during post-op week 1. He is nice but is very \"to the point\". He definitely cares and ensures that you are safely moving along. Dealing with Dr. Cam was probably my least favorite experience. He did nothing inappropriate (other than barged in my room post-op day 1 and even on a PCA drip I almost jumped clear out of the bed... he just scared the peaches out of me), he always answered promptly and did whatever needed to be done but I say he was my least favorite because he just isn't Dr. Schram. He's just more \"to the point\" about things...lol. However he's a great doctor as well! Everyone has a different approach, this I know well...because I am a nurse! Dr. Cam still gets the job done well and is very concerned of even the smallest detail after surgery...he just has a different personality.rnrnI have nothing to say negative regarding Dr. Schram. He is perfect! He looks to the Lord for strength and guidance prior to surgery which I think is phenomenal. After talking with me and ensuring that I had no questions or concerns.... just before surgery he said, \"Let's say a prayer.\" And that's just what we did. He came beside me and held my hand and we went to the Lord in prayer for strength and guidance and good outcome. I have a great deal of respect for him because of that. rnrnMy incisions look absolutely great. I had the laparoscopy roux en Y done. He did an AWESOME job with no complications thus far. The whole group there at the Barix work together to ensure that you are moving along well. They return calls very quickly if you have any questions or concerns and are just all around AWESOME!rnrnThe program set by Dr. Schram is very easy to follow and understand. There is a great nutrition class that you attend 2 weeks prior to surgery as well. You are provided with a great follow-along-book that guides you and is geared just for YOU! rnrnI give Dr. Schram a 20 out of 10!!! He is perfect! I give the whole experience with the Barix a 10/10 and not to mention the great staff at the Barix. All that I encountered had EXCELLENT bedside manor and were very caring and attentive. I highly recommend this surgeon and facility!
Dr. Schram gave a very informative seminar and answered all of my questions. During our one on one visits, I felt like he was always in a hurry and didn't feel that bond that most people seem to have with their surgeons. However, he is a great surgeon and got the job done to perfection and that is what really matters.
Dr. Schram is a great man. He truly cares about his patients. He was very open about the risks of surgery and the advantages. He answers all your questions and then some :-) rnrnI've now had surgery and just wanted to add that Dr.Schram says a prayer before you go into surgery. Loved that! Very comforting.
My first impression of Dr. Schram was very good. He looked and acted young, but was very knowledgeable and informative. My impression changed for the better. Dr. Schram was very supportive during my journey and his bedside manner was great. All of the office staff was wonderful. I think surgical competence is the most important, but bedside manner follows that.
So far I have only met with Dr. Schram for the initial consultation. I thought that he was very informative during the group presentation. When we met in the individual meeting, I thought he was very compassionate. As soon as I mentioned that I had PCOS, he said that he knew that this surgery was the only way to help it. It made my day. The staff is great. I enjoyed each of them. Dr. Schram is with the Barix Clinic, so the aftercare program is quite comprehensive and with a very strict diet moving form clear liquids, to liquids, pureed foods, soft foods and finally normal foods over a 6-8 week period after the surgery. Also, there are follow-up visits at the clinic after the surgery. I don't have any complaints or concerns about his manner or abilities. I am really excited that he is going to be my surgeon.
Dr. Schram was very pleasant and quite informative. He answered any and all questions that were asked of him. We started out in a group but then saw him one on one, which he continued to answer any questions. He is not overly talkative of small talk but you can ask him anything. I really like him, he is professional but also very caring and likeable. I am a Christian and liked the fact that he said a prayer before we went into surgery, I found that quite calming. I like his office staff as well, they are friendly and knowlegeable and also will answer any questiuons they can in person and on the phone. They are quite encouraging of the whole process! I honestly cannot think of anything I did not like about Dr. Schram. He thoroughly went over the differences of the lapband versus the RNY and of course the risks involved with both. I felt that I knew almost everything I needed to know before going into the surgery (he also gives you a notebook binder that covers almost everything). I would recommen him to anyone! He in my opinion is a fantastic surgeon and a very nice man, although quite busy!
