John Wright, Jr. Bariatric Surgeon M.D., F.A.C.S.

Dr Wright is a very competent and knowledgeable doctor. I knew when I met him he had the self-assurance of a man who knew what he was doing. He seemed a bit reserved at first but not in a bad way. This gave me confidence.
He answered all my questions and was very thorough explaining what would be going on and what I should expect. Dr Bowles, his assistant is great too. He removed my staples and G-tube and was very nice. He will be a great surgeon and follow in Dr Wright's footsteps. They make a good team!
The staff at Vanderbilt clinic is professional and considerate of the patients feelings.
The after care is thorough and complete. They help at every step of the way.
I recommend him and the staff completely.

Dr. Wright is also a liver transplant surgeon at Vanderbilt and an associate professor. He tells you all the potential problems with the surgery during the consultation visit. He also stresses that this is not a cure and that you still have to change your eating habits for it to be sucessful over the long term. So in my case that was what I was looking for a highly competent surgeon who says what he thinks.

Dr. Wright is wonderful. he is not there to do this surgery for a quick fix or to make people more attractive. he does the surgery for health reasons. he is very thorough in telling you exactly the pros and cons of surgery. his office is very professional and his receptionist lisa is more than helpful. i am 4 weeks post op and am very pleased with the surgery and no complications so far. i have lost 33lbs. already. i would highly recommend him to anyone. remember he is straight to the point and he lets you know exactly how it is. so if you are looking for a doctor to beat around the bush he would not be the one.
