John Touliatos Bariatric Surgeon M.D.
From our visit encounter with Dr. Touliatos I have been very impressed with him and the staff. He is very professional and caring. He took time to answer all my questions and concerns. Did not feel rushed at all like you do with some doctors.
He stresses heavily aftercare with follow up dietician, mental health, and physical therapy professionals.
Would highly recommend him to anyone.
My first impression of him is that he seems to be experienced in this field
I have only had one meeting with him, but that is all about to change as I go on Oct 18, 2010 for several tests and due to have surgery on November 30, 2010.
His staff are super friendly and seem to care about the patients
both surgical competence and bedside manner are great. I have had the competence w/ no beside manner and it is not easy to deal with. A good doctor must be equally balanced.
I met Dr. Touliatos, Sept 13, 2007 I went to the seminar on that day I weighed over 300 lbs. I did not know what I had gotten my self into. I still could have backed out but something made me stay and I am glad I did. I made my appointment for Nov 5. 2007. rnNov 5, 2007 my first appointment I walked into the office with the idea of having the lap band however Dr. T had me changing my mind to the RNY I am glad I did. The staff was great in helping be getting me ready to have my surgery with in the month. I was ready to have my surgery on Dec 11, 2007. I was totally scared but Dr T prayed with me he explained that all would be ok. I was so relaxed by the time it was time for me to go to the operating room that I was calm. rnNow that is has been 6 months post op I've had very little problems just some throwing up but Dr T came to the rescue he did an endoscopy and fixed the problem. rnI would have to give Dr T a 10 plus on the scale of 1-10 in my books he is the greatest.rnThe only bad thing I have to say about Dr T is that when I call his office I get transferred to the voice mail. I sometimes have to make 2 phone calls to get my questions answered. rnrn
Before I even met Dr. Touliatos I prayed about who I should pick. I had a choice between two doctors. Both being Christians was a big plus for me. I was told they both pray with their patients. I really appreciate the fact that they know their gift of surgery is from our creator and Savoir Jesus Christ. rnI met him on my first visit. He was very through. Covering everything I had already looked up. I was so excited to meet him. rnHe is very nice and even let my daughter make our picture together. rnThis is a big event in my life. I know this is going to change my life in a big way. LOL No pun intended. rnUpdate since surgery.rnI highly reccomend Dr. Touliatos. I had no complications. Was able to go home the next day after my surgery. I love that his staff are very nice and helpful as well. He will cover everything for you. Aftercare is very important to him. And his staff make it easy to make an appointment, either right then or calling in on a later date. rnI don't have any complaints with Dr. Touliatos or his staff. I however do about Trinity Medical Center.
I first met Doctor Touliatos at a seminar in Birmingham, AL 3 weeks before my surgery. He had kind eyes and was very direct and honest about the gastric bypass procedure. After the seminar, he talked with me and my husband and told us that he was looking forward to getting to know us better. How many surgeons tell you that? On my first office visit, his staff was very efficient, and I didn't have to fill out any unneccessary paperwork. Everything was fully computerized. I liked everything about Doctor T. He informed me of all the risks prior to my surgery and answered all of my questions. My office visit with him was about 30 minutes long, and my husband and I walked away feeling as if we had made a new friend. rnrnOn a scale of 1 to 10, Doctor T is a total 10.5. When it comes to his bedside manner and surgical competence, you couldn't ask for a better doctor. rnrnI have my 2 week post-op appointment tomorrow morning (4-28-08), and I can truly tell you that I'm really looking forward to seeing him. I've already lost 25 pounds. Because I live almost 80 miles away in Montgomery, AL, I won't be attending aftercare with Doctor T. But I can tell you that they have a weekly aftercare program and support group. rnrnI'll tell anyone that I come into contact with in the state of Alabama - if you need weight loss surgery and want a wonderful doctor, Doctor Touliatos is the man for the job.rn
So I finally met Dr. Touliatos. He was very nice and didn't make me feel uncomfortable. His office staff is very friendly. I have to drive 3 hours to get to the hospital and was a little bit late and was afraid the staff would give me a hard time about it but they didn't. What I liked the least was that I had to wait 2 and a half hours to see him after my appointment time. He was very clear about the risks of the surgery but I am a low risk candidate so I am not worried about any complications. He even printed out a sheet restating the risks and complications of surgery just to make sure I was aware of them. As I only saw him for about 15 minutes, I don't have much more to add now.
I had my consultation on Jan. 23, 2007. My first impression of Dr. T is that he is tall and he seems nice. He explained all the basics about the surgery right off the bat and then let me ask all my questions. Even though all the appointments were backed up because he got out of surgery late, he took his time with me and didn't rush me. He said to contact him with any other questions. He had an answer for all my questions and I felt satisfied when I left there. I am looking very forward to having Dr. T perform my surgery.
