John Baker Bariatric Surgeon M.D.,F.A.C.S.
Very Very good surgeon. Bedside manner could be better but then would it motivate some people(if he had a real nice manner?)
It got much better. He CARES about all his patients. Hus staff is excellent. some things got messed up but with their workload...It is amazing what they can do!
I dont know, Dr Baker has a manner that makes you(me)try so much harder, You can easily take him the wrong way, But he PUSHES you to do the right things(HE GAVE ME MY LIFE BACK!)He has very good aftercare, He has a structured program, addresses all the possible outcomes including death...It happens, but with all the information, you choose tho go under the knife! I would highly reccomend him...10 because i cant rate higher. His competence is higher! Just wish he had more control over the hospital staff at Baptist!
Very nice and talked about the surgery. but did not pressure you to have it.he you answer for yourself. made me feel very confident in him as a surgeon.
office staff was very pleasant.
he is a sergeon that left me with the impression that he has given you a tool to loose weight and it is now your choice to use it.
yes very much
yes
let me know the risk before surgery and what can happen after.
excelant
both
My first impression was that he was very soft spoken. Sort of Nerdy. lol
He is a very efficent Dr. He realy knows what he is doing.
Very efficent also.
I liked the fact that he is though on his patients. Exspects only the best from me.
If your not serious about loosing the weight, find another Dr.
Aftercare is very important to him.
Yes, very structured aftercare.
Very thourough about the risk.
from 1-100 i would say my Dr. is a 99.5%
He has both surgical competence and bedside manner.
I loved Dr Baker, even though he made me cry. The emotions of going thru this, why did it take surgery to get you motivated, etc is overwhelming. But in the end I realized he was just grueling me to make sure I was really dedicated to doing this as a life change or why bother wasting his and my time?
<b>I had Dr. Oman first but found out that she can't do the surgery because of the Springdale Hospital and they said it can take 6 to 8 months or longer. So I found that Dr. Baker was the best for this surgery.
So now about my sureon. I have not met him at this time. but i talked to Becky and she was so nice she was very helpful. Well i met dr. baker and my first impression was very good he no what he is talking about and he want to give you the tool to lose weight and what you do with that tool is allhe is the up to you. the staff there make you feel like you have no them your hole life and that they are friendly. I would tell anyone to go to him he will tell you how it is and treat you like a person. he tell you what is coming and what is going to happend and does not make it out to be something easy. Please if you are looking into have this surgery then please go see him you will be very happy you did.
My first impression was that he was direct and to the point. He was very abrupt and serious, he wanted me to be serious about this surgery too. Now I find him most helpful, he is still direct, but, I like that. His office staff is very helpful, but, hard to get in touch with. He is very truthful about the surgery, risks, aftercare and your reponsibility in the surgery. I think he is an excellent surgeon. He was recommended by friends that are doctors. I think I require a better surgeon than bedside manner. Both would be great, but, excellence is key.
Well my first impression of Doc Baker was he knows his field very well. He states he is providing a tool for you. On the consult date he goes over in full details the surgery procedures with a slide show in his office. I wish I had paid more attention in Biology class in school. LOL! The consult took about 3 hours. He provides a snack during the consultation. He then asked me how many calories I just ate? You have to be ready to make a life style change. He asks you what are you waiting for and when are you going to do it? He puts you on the spot and there are NO excuses! My surgery was on March 9, 2004. I just had my 3 month post op visit. The only complication I had was the type sutures he used to close me up. I have never had major surgery before and one never knows until it happens. I had a skin reaction to the (PDS sutures) and it took about 3 months for my incision to heal. I had to go in for extra treatment with Doc Baker and he explained it all to me. Any future surgeries he told me to make sure they know about my reaction to the product. But all is well now I am down 54 pounds and feeling great. His staff is great and will help out with any questions you have. He does have a very structured aftercare program. Vitamins for LIFE! EXERCISE! No more Fast Food, Fatty Food or Fried Food. I can't wait for my 6 month check up and to see how my blood work comes out. Overall Doc Baker is a great surgeon and he seems to care alot about how well I am doing with the tool he gave me.
