Well, I attended the inservice for Dr. Weber yesturday, Aug. 11, 2003, I instantly felt confortable with him and his staff, because they were straight forward individuals who explained that their philosophy was to work to get the desired results you are wanting and I personally really like that. I have started to get all my ducks in a row right away and will be ready for my upcoming consultation with Dr. Weber on Sept. 19th. Will upate more then.........Update, I have gone to the consultation and I have to say, after talking to Dr. Weber, I like him so much more, he is like your personal cheerleader and he has a strong belief that if you work hard enough that you can obtain even what you think is impossible, I love his demeanor and his attitude. Yes, he is brief but I don't need to be there all day, so that does not matter to me, he values you in the time that he does spend, EXCELLENT DOC!!!
I saw Dr. Weber at his informational meeting in October and liked his compassion for people with weight problems. I met him in person on November 4 for my first consult appointment. I thought he had a very intuitive manner. His office staff were very nice and cheerful. What I like least about Dr. Weber is the excercise demands. But life is hard sometimes. He is only telling you what you need to know.
My first impression of Dr. Weber was 22 years ago. I worked in the office of one of his colleagues in Ballard, and always found him to be an excellent surgeon, and very personable. This impression has only increased now, after my surgery. His office staff have always been extremely helpful. My surgery was submitted on a Friday and approved on Monday. What more could you ask for? I first went to a seminar on August 8, 2005, first consult-August 11, 2005, surgery October 10, 2005. I was somewhat unsure of the type of surgery I needed, and Dr Weber was very patient with me, giving me his opinion, but non the less making clear he would do one of the two surgeries. They have a structured after care program, and before surgery expect you to follow all the rules before approval. He addressed the risks with candor, but since he has done 2700 surgeries with only o.1% morbididy, he instills confidence. Both his bedside manor and surgical competence are great. I would highly recommend him for anyone desiring Open RNY. I think his associates will be doing Lap soon.
What was your first impression of him/her?
Dr. Weber expects you to do your best and to lose the weight. The surgery is only a tool we have to make it work and we have to want it to work.
How did your impression change over time?
I hasn't changed...I love him
How would you describe his office staff?
wonderful and careing.
What did you like least about him?
His persistance in me doing my job=losing the weight.
What should future patients know about him?
Do what he tells you, trust him and his staff.
How much does he emphasize aftercare?
He is concerned for the person, he also has an investment in that person. Do what he tells you and everything will be fine. comunicate with him and his staff and things will go a lot smoother.
How did he address the risks of surgery?
All surgery has a risk factor. Reality.
How would you rate him overall?
I trust him with my life.
Which is better, surgical competence, bedside manner, or are both great?
He is his job and his job is his life. He is a great man doing a great job.
Dr Weber is amazing. He is really interested in your feelings and views regarding the surgery. His staff is outstanding. They respond to reasonable requests for information with quick and thorough answers. I have had Dr Weber call me back when I called in a question.
His after care is almost mandatory. He is the most astounding cheerleader for living through the process after surgery.
I had an indefinite pain in my stomach area after 1 year. I spent 4 hours in x-ray, having a CT scan and floroscopy to determine if there were ulcers or other structural prolems. Thank God there were none. The determination was that I had pulled muscles doing my abdominal exercises.
He is the most amazing supporter and has never denigrated my concerns or fears regarding my surgery and recovery.
Number one in competence, manner and support.
I am somewhat familiar with Dr Weber as he was my sisters surgeon 3 years ago. I recently attended his required WLS inservice and was impressed by his easy manner, his dedication to furthering public education regarding WLS, his sincere interest and concern for not only his patients but also anyone considering WLS wheteher or not they choose him as their surgeon. The seminar was interesting and informative. Dr Weber's delivery of the information was thorough, clear and deliberately straightforward. It is obvious that what motivates Dr Weber is not the almighty dollar but the health and welfare of his patients.
Dr Weber's mortality and complication statistics are impressive. Overall I came away with a feeling of great comfort and confidence in his skills. He is not without a very comfortable bedside manner as well. I know from my sister and from his own seminar that he is very demanding, pre and post op. That may put some people off but frankly, I would be concerned if he were not. The inference I draw from this is that he truly cares and wants each of his patients to be successful, not because he doesn't want his statistics to become tarnished. Additionally, I know that for me to be sucessful, I need someone to be accountable to and I appreciate the fact that he is so dedicated to his patients. I know that post op I may get my butt chewed out from titm to time for not adhering to my commitments to WLS but then doesn't everyone who cuts corners and gets caught? LOL
I met Dr. Weber at one of his seminars. He was very informative and direct about his clinic, staff and himself. I like that about a physician because you have less questions when everything is put to you in black and white terms. You are given a packet full of useful information and papers for you to complete and return on your consultation visit with Dr. Weber. He was quite frank about the procedure, what he expects from you as a patient and what you should expect from him as a surgeon. If anyone is thinking about getting surgery, I suggest attending one of Dr. Weber’s seminars. The office staff stress to you that they want to guide you through the process. Already, I have used them a couple of times and I'm just trying to get the referral to their office. I'm sure they will be right on when I become one of their patients.
