Had Dr Kane Sr... was a very nice man.. I had all my films with me for my upper GI...He ran through the films and said my staple line wasn't really visible...I know he was running late I did have alot of questions .. because I am a revision... He told me ok Ginny will contact you.. I was contacted by Ginny she wanted to know what Dr Kane had said... She was going to contact Dr Kanes office for notes.. Called Ginny a week latter and she was still waiting on notes.... I have to admit the seminar was *GREAT* very informative... now I guess I wait for Ginny to contact me...
AFTER SURGERY!!
Dr Kane both senior and junior came in daily to see me on weekends there associates came in.. This is a great group even if you feel the first visit is short...have your questions ready to roll or it will be short.. but the after care makes up for it :)
And if you get on 4east the 2 best nurses there is Joyce and Edie....Careful of Edie she throws a party at your first time of passing gas *laughing*
I feel like Dr. Kane is a very knowledgable person who seems down to earth and easy to talk to. I feel very confident in him being my surgeon.
I first met Dr. Kane at a educational seminar then again at one on one consultation. He is very informative w/ the information he gives you. I believe he feels that it is highly important that you know the risk factors of this surgery.
His staff has been very friendly so far. Ginny is a angel sent from up above. Future patients should know that they can feel comfortable asking questions and getting quick responses back. I believe that aftercare if stressed a lot. I also believe that support from others is something that we all need.
Went to the seminar. Very impressed. Haven't had consultation yet.12/6/00- met with Dr Kane Jr. He'll be doing my surgery and says I will probably have it lap. Very nice and assured me about the surgery since I've been kind of nervous the closer it gets. I feel I'm in good hands.--2/14/01--Dr Kane takes good care of his patients. While my Dr is Dr Kane Jr, I was visited by every Dr in his practice while I was in the hospital. Sometimes more than 1 time per day. They really show a concern for you as their patient.
He is a wonderful man who tells it like it is. My first impression of him was that he was sleepy or a little dry, but he warms up. The office staff is wonderfull. Weight for Life is slow, espically now because they are so backed up. His beforecare and aftercare program looks to be supurb. It is very structured and run by Weight For Life.
Risks are addressed VERY early on right from the start. He will sit down and answer any question you have. That is wether you have one or thirty. I truly believe he is one of the best. The thing I found slightly discouraging is that he is not an upbeat person, he is just a surgeon. I was hoping for a feeling that everything was wonderfull after I left his office but he was just a straight laced guy. He wants you to know that this is not an easy process and you need to be dedicated.
I met with Dr James Kane Sr. he was wonderful, I was even a 1/2 hour late for my appointment because I got lost and that didn't bother him at all. I had a list of over 25 questions that he took the time and answered completely before I left. He even drew me a map so I wouldn't get lost going back home lol. I met his son Dr Kane Jr he is just as friendly as his father. I think I did a very smart thing going with the orginazation Weight for Life. He is going to do a fobi style Open RNY and that pleases me. Will keep you updated!

I went to the OSS seminar on November 4th. Dr Kane, Jr. spoke at that. My first impression of him was that he is very bright and very knowledgeable. He spoke of both the risks of the surgery and the problems with being overweight. (Like we didn't know!)
His office staff (Ginny) is super. Whatever they pay her, it's not enough!
With Weight for Life, there is a very structured aftercare program.
I'd rate Dr. Kane, Jr. overall as a comptent surgeon who cares about his patients.
I have not yet met with Dr. Kane. Ginny was very helpful. Will update after I find out if I am approved(first went to BTC-not on my plan-ooops),
I have still not met with Dr. Kane, however, I did find out today 11/1/00 that Starmark approved me. Weight for life now offers lap procedure so I will check and see if Dr. Kane is the one who does that surgery.
11/6/00-Dr. Kane does lap rny. I have appt. with him on 11/13/00. Will let you know what I think. Surgery date of 1/12/01.
11/13/00 Met Dr. Kane Jr. Very nice. Patient and answered all my questions. His staff was very nice and they are all efficient.
My first impression of him was that i really liked, felt safe that he knew what he was talking about.
my impression never changed of him
his office staff is very knowledgeable about the surgery and willing to help you.
dr is very caring and wanting to know everything before you decide to have surgery.
definately wants you to be involved with the aftercare program so it will help you achieve what you wanted to achieve in the beginning.
