When I first met Dr.Sapala I was a little iffy about him but when he started to expalin his procedure and other surgery everything started to made sense. He answered all my question .The office staff is very busy so you really have to make yourself known. They are good with pre-op and post-op care. There is someone on call after hour.Have support meeting every month.

my inital surgeon is dr.sapala who is absolutely passionate about this surgery, he is wonderful! unfortunately he moved to train other surgeons to do this surgery so i followed up with his partner dr.schuhknecht. he did a hernia surgery on dr.sapala and to me that says alot when one surgeon lets another do his surgery. i absolutey LOVE dr. schuhknecht! he is remarkable. he talks to you as a person and not a number. he spends time with you, answers all of your guestions and is very supportive through the WHOLE process. i have followed him now for about 2 years and i would recommened him without any doubt! i have seen his other patients and have seen what he's done with people that no other dr. would even consider touching! i can't say enough good things about him!

He is a sweetheart. I loved everything about him. I did enough research on him before i met him and I know a lot of people who've had this surgery performed by him. I feel safe having my surgery with Dr. Sapala and I would recommend him to all. The staff at the Cori Center is great.

Dr. Sapala is very confident & presents himself that way too. I feel he is one of the tops in this field; he has been doing this for 25 years, & he has done over 4000 patients. That made me feel very confident in choosing him.

The Cori Center in NYC is a very busy place, it's hard to get thru to the patient care cordinators, & i've just got switched again to a new one, but they don't know who it is, & this will be my 3rd. So, my experience hasn't been the smoothest... but hopefully, when i get a new cordinator, things will be better.

Well, i have a new PCC at Cori, Latisha, & she has been fabulous! She has been very helpful, & moving things along quickly! My surgery date is May 26th, 2005!

I did a lot of research on Dr. Sapala before I met him. When I finally met him he was fantastic. My mom loved everything about him. He was very nice, very easy to talk to and made me feel very at ease. He explained all the procedures to me, explained the pros and cons and answered all my questions. I would definetely recommend him to anyone. He will put you at ease.

Dr Sapala is a life saver. I just can't thank him enough for coming to NYC and opening up a Cori Center.
The office staff is very nice and I like them all very much.
Dr Sapala is down to earth and very friendly. He is a caring doctor. And it shows not only in him. But everyone that works with him and for him. I'm so happy that I chose the Cori Center.

My impression of Dr.Sapala was great. He gave me alot of confidence with his answers to any of my questions. But, might I add I did alot of research for about at least a yr. before going ahead and persuing the surgery.
Drs' office staff was also very cordial and polite. They were always there for any help and or inquiries I had. I felt this was the place.
Just that the location was quite a ways. Well, my Mom lived out in the direction of DRs' Jackson,Mi office,(Chelsea) so driving there to Jackson was minimal. But after moving up north to Higgins Lake,Mi from our home in Sterling Heights, MI the trip was a bit far. But worth it!
Well, as far as after care , I see DR.Sapala has relocated to New York, so...I would think one would really see DR. Wood first, then secondly DR. Schueknecht. I had the pleasure of meeting both and I was very impressed by both of them also. And everything I have read and heard of both DRs' is nothing but praise and positive things!
One only complaint is that the DR. (DR. Figaro) at Harper Grace Hosp, in Detropit who released me after my initial surgery did too all to soon. I was released home with a horrible infection and was rushed back in 2 weeks later for another extensive surgery . DR. Figaro did not seemed too interested in my infection and I was probably the only one I have heard of who was released without a drain. Which I believe made the infection worse and caused my temps to plateau @ 106*.I really feel I was close to you know what. The emergency surgery was not all that exciting. I was sent home with an open incission to heal from the inside out and required nursing care for a few months. All because a house DR resident, refused to take proper care of me and release me too soon. Especially when he was aware of the problems I had. I wouldn't recommend him for anything if anyone ever comes across this DR.(Figaro)

I was even advised to take legal action against this DR. Figaro by a few members of the hosp staff. But was so glad to be alive
and going home I just prayed I recovered .Although it was lengthly.

I might add that this is just my personal impression and the unplanned surgery speaks for itself.I would say it isn't wise to allow a house DR and or resident DR which ever DR Figaro was to treat and or release you. Just a thought and wise opinion. It would be better to have your surgeon to do all the releasing cause thats what could happen to you!It happened to me!
But, I was pleased with DR.Sapala.
