Dr. Sapala did my first surgery in 1983 and I had several procedures done after that. I would like to get in touch with him. I lost 150 lbs. but over the years have put most of it back on. Now have problems with back and joints and would like to get weight off again. I heard of a new procedure called stoma phix (not sure on spelling) and wonder if I might qualify for this procedure. Please get me in touch via e-mail with Dr. Sapala! Thank you!
My first impression of Dr.Sapala was "wow this guy knows his stuff" I say that because from the first moment that you meet with him he keep it 100% real with you, he tells you all the risks of your sugery the good and the bad he gives you eye to eye contact and he takes time to answer all your questions. Dr. Sapala and his staff is very nice and they make you feel like part of the family you can call with any questions and be satified with the information you are given. Your respected and you are known by your name and not by your chart number. After the sugery the bedside manor was good i was taking care of well and the doc himself and other staff came to see how i was doing that in its self was a confort to know that you are definatly in the right hands I rate Dr. Sapala from 1 to 10 with 10 being the higest a big fat 10
Dr. Sapala and his staff are knowledgeable, helpful and kind. My personal doctor gave me his name when we discussed weight loss options. After years of diets and exercise I was unable to loose any significant amount of weight on my own. I did not think that having weight loss surgery was going to be easy but I learned how challenging it is . . . Dr. Sapala as well as Mary (the coordinator of the program and a licensed nutritionist) were always very clear with the procedure and life after surgery.rnrnI am a month out and about 30 pounds lighter. I still have a long road ahead but I am confident in my decision as well as my choice to have Dr. Sapala, Mary and the rest of Dr. Sapala's staff on my side.
My first impression of Dr. Sapala was of a good one. I felt good vibes coming from his body language when he walked in the room and when he spoke to us at the group meeting for people \"interested\" in getting the bariatric surgery done, he was well spoken. He made everything absolutely clear and he patiently answered our questions at hand. Dr. Sapala's staff makes you feel \"welcomed\" right away from the 1st visit, and never at a time did I ever feel \"ignored\" or never was I under the impression that his staff didn't know what they were doing.... They most certainly did 100% of the time! They always greet you with a smile and are always ready to help with any concerns or questions. Mary the Bariatric Coordinator (another great staff member) along with Dr. Sapala always emphasized the \"importance\" of following instructions from beginning to end and made sure we individually understood that. My stay at the hospital was an eventful one, with my abdominal soreness of course, and Dr. Sapala, Mary and the staff of Lutheran made sure I was well taken care of. I most definetely recommend Dr. Sapala for anyone who's \"seriously\" thinking of having bariatric surgery.
I first saw Dr. Sapala June of 07 and had my surgery Nov 5th 2007..This was the best decision I have made not only to have the surgery but to choose Dr. Sapala as my surgeon!!! He has been very attentive and caring from day 1 not only with me but my family as well!! The day I had my surgery before the surgery Dr. Sapala came into the room to explain everything to me and my family and made sure he made everyone feel very comfortable about the whole thing!! My mother came with me the day of my surgery she was extremely nervous once she spoke with Dr. Sapala her mind was at ease she understood the whole surgery and saw I choose the right surgeon...The nurses and interns in the hospital all told me how much they loved Dr. Sapala and how they loved working with him..During my surgery Dr. Sapala was not only concerned about me but about my family that was waiting as well..He made sure someone gave them frequent updates through out my surgery!! My stay in the hospital went very well all the nurses were great and Dr. Sapala checked on me daily!! My follow up visits went well Dr. Sapala has his patients best interest at heart!! He will listen to you and you can reach HIM at any time day or night he never will push you off on to anyone else..I have heard many stories from people I know who have had weight loss surgery with other surgeons and once they have surgery they can not get there doctors this is not the case with Dr. Sapala!! I feel very comfortable with him and his staff!! His office Manager Mary is also very helpful!! From day 1 she is helped me between finding doctors to get all my tests done with and my insurance concerns, nutrition and anything else you need her for!! She goes over and beyond her job!! Not only does the surgery work but you have a staff of people who are truly concerned about you and your well being!! I tell everyone that I know who wants to have weight loss surgery, thinking about it or who isn't even thinking about it and might need it about Dr. Sapala because you can not find a better surgeon.. I'm 6 months out of my surgery and I went from a size 22 to a size 12!!! I'm so glad I made the decision to have the surgery and I'm glad I had it with Dr. Sapala!!
I went to Dr. Sapala not knowing what to expect. He told me of the advantanges and disadvantanges of weight loss surgery, including the risks associated with it. He and his staff were very helpful and attentive. On a scale of 1 to 10, he is in the top 10. As a surgeon he is competent and he has good bedside manners.
As I am sure is the story for many others, it took much soul-searching to decide that weight loss surgery was the route I needed to go for permanent, safe weight loss. rnrnAfter much reserach and meeting other surgeons, I found myself in Dr.Sapala's office. He came out and spoke to us as a group first and I was struck by his candidness. I felt he was compassionate and caring. This first impression was cemented when I met with him one on one. Both he and his staff were there for me every step of the way from approval through surgery (3/05) to post-op care and even today almost 3 years later with their monthly support groups.rnrnDr. Sapala and Mary were both very upfront about the risks of surgery. They sent me home with a binder of information that had to weigh about 5 pounds!rnrnJust recently, I did experience a medical issue related to my surgery (one of the side effects of surgery listed in that binder) and Dr. Sapala was there again from surgery to aftercare.rnrnHaving weight loss surgery is life changing. This is not a quick fix and is a life long commitment. I am grateful to have found a surgeon and medical staff who is committed to being along on that journey.
My first impression of my Dr. Sapala was that he was very warm. He was very knowledgeable in the area of bariatriac surgery. I attended a seminar and feel very comfortable having him as my surgeon. rnHe even managed to make me crack up with hearty chuckles. He kinda resembles Jerry Springer which made me chuckle to myself. His office staff were quite friendly as well. I felt relaxed and very much at home. rnDr. Sapala gave a detailed explanation of the surgery and individualized conferences tailored for each potential patient. Thus far he seems to be the perfect doctor, he answered any and all of my questions and made me feel comfortable.
