Jamal Farhan Bariatric Surgeon

I was extremely impressed by Dr. Farhan's knowledge and confidence in performing the procedure. He performs this surgery routinely through the Hurley Center for Comprehensive Weight Loss. Because he and his staff were so thorough, I had very few questions to ask. I did ask him if he found this type of surgery challenging. He thought for a moment and said "no". He finds being called in the middle of the night to do surgery on a victim of a gunshot wound to the stomach a challenge. I asked him why perform this type of surgery if it not challenging. He was quick to say, as far as this type of surgery goes, it's really a very basic procedure. He does however, find performing this surgery to be extremely rewarding because this surgery changes the life of his patient forever in a positive way.

He was very nice, but pretty clinical. I liked that though. His professional demeanor put me at ease.

Dr. Farhan impressed me with his knowledge and being a straight shooter when it came to questions. I felt he was very capable of taking care of me and doing the surgery properly. I didn't care a lot for his office staff as they seemed to be rushed and uncareing. I am sure now it is because they are so busy with all of the patients. I would tell you if your having your surgery at Hurley in Flint that you are in fantastic hands but be patient with the staff. If you have questions keep asking and don't let some of them put you off. Your very important and remember your doing this for yourself and you deserve it. The after care at Hurley is improving. There is support groups and they are very helpful. It is easier to get questions answered from them than it is to get it from the staff. Over all I would recommend Hurley to anyone considering the surgery. I think it has the best surgeons. I am very happy with the overall expierence but most of all I am happy with the results.

He was very Handsome!! well you said first impression....lolo... Dr. Farhan was very plesant and caring. He see me as a person. NOT AN OBESE PERSON BUT JUST A PERSON. He gave me a general sense of well being and I was immediately calm with him. I opened up and told him my reasons why and he agreed that this would be a wonderful surgery for me. The Office staff (2) of the have had the surgery and are now bariatric counselors for the center. I like everything about him. Future patients should know he is blunt. but very compationate and can appreciate honestly. He was very serious about aftercare and maintenance of the weight and stressed this was not a cure for obesity (which I know it is not) but a tool for maintaning ones weight. As w/any surgery there are risks involved but I am doing this for me or I have no life plain and simple. I would rate Dr. Farhan a 9+. attitude is everything with me and how a person presents themselves leaves a forever impression. His surgical competence and bedside manner were wonderful. He has a wonderful heart and you will see this when you speak with him.

He is a VERY knowledgeable man. Took his time and explained things in great detail. The good the bad and the ugly. He is a trauma sergeon and has been for 10 years. He has been doing this surgery for weightloss for 2 years not but has done it for cancer pts. and such for 10. He was very easy to understand and made things quite clear and did NOT talk benieth me at all. Great rapport.
