'Dr. Ross and his staff are amazing people. He has a humbling bedside manner that allows you to be comfortable and assured that he is not going to ever leave you with any unanswered questions. He is caring and compassionate towards me and makes me feel safe in knowing that he is going to be performing a life altering surgery on me. He never makes you feel rushed with his visits and takes as much time as needed in explaining any questions you or your family members may have. I would recommend him to anyone who is considering this surgery. I would have to say the greatest aspect of Dr. Ross is that he is a man of faith and feels that doing weight loss surgery is more so of a calling
I went to the Community Lecture on 9/21/05, and was impressed that Dr. Ross started this program in Spartanburg to HELP people. His compassion for people was further demonstrated on 9/24 at the Walk from Obesity. When one of his patients was slowly, but surely getting through the walk, Dr. Ross and his wife walked the last 2 or 3 laps with her. I'm still getting all my documentation for insurance, but can't wait to be a patient of Dr. Ross. I now have a surgery date, and am still very impressed with Dr. Ross and his staff. Angie is awesome with handling the insurance. I was approved within 4 days over the Christmas holidays!!
My first impression was that Dr. Paul Ross is a very special doctor. He was sincere and listened to what you had to say. He always took his time with you and was/is really concerened about how you felt. My imperssion of him has grown better, he is a good Christian man that believes in the best for his patients. The nurses in his office were always nice and attentive. Yes, he is concerned about aftercare, we were urged to attend all the support meetings, and his assistant is also concerned with you learning about everything you can before and after surgery. Dr. Ross explained about all the complacations that could go wrong if you didn't go by the plans. He also told you about the benefits. 16 months after my surgery I have lost 127lbs., I am off of my diabetes medication, all my blood work is normal, I can breath better, and I feel so much more like a human again. Over all I think Dr.Ross is "The Greastest". The day after my surgery he came in my room, sat down with me and talked to me for at least 30 minutes, not many doctors take that kind of time with their pts. He is a really nice and kind person, and I would recomend him to any one considering surgery. I even talked my Dad into talking to him about doing his surgey an his thyroid, he liked Dr.Ross, and my Dad is 82 and very hard to please. Here's to you Dr.Paul Ross, you are the best. I had my surgical consult with Dr Ross on the 18th. He was very informative and explained more indepth about the risks associated with the surgery and what to expect and answered my questions and addressed my concerns. He shows concern for his patients and each one seems to be just as important as the next. I like that.
I dont feel quite as worried because I feel that I am in good hands with Dr Ross.
My surgeon is Dr. Paul Ross, I was impressed with him from the very first community meeting my husband & I went to, from there each meeting with him we were very confident in him & we knew he would take care of me to the best of his ability. His office staff is vert effecient, There was absolutely nothing about Dr. Ross that I did not like. I would highly recommend him to anybody. He has an excellent before & after care barriatric program, Norma & Diane are the bomb!! He did adress all risk with us several times to be sure I was awsre, Overall I would rate him excellent!!! As far as his surgical competence or bedside manner one being better then the other, They are both excellent, I am truly fortunate to have him as my surgeon.
He is the nicest person I have ever met. He is very sincere and has a wonderful bedside manner. My impression of him has changed for the better, he is soooo nice!! His staff is very friendly. There is not a thing I do not like about Dr. Ross. Future patients should know he is a very caring, understanding, and outstanding person. He has a good support group and office visits for aftercare. He addressed the risks of surgery in a group meeting (1st step to the approval process), and again in a meeting one on one after getting my paper work in. I would rate him very highly. Both sugical competence and bedside manner are very important and Dr. Ross has both. I did have some complications though but he took very good care of me. My spleen was enlarged and was nixed while performing laproscopic gastric bypass. I then was opened and had a splenectomy and open gastric bypass surgery. I came home with a JP drain and when it was taken out I came up with 104 fever and was back in the hospital for 2 weeks for pneumonia, fever, and elevated white blood cell count. At first I wished I had never done this to myself. After I got out of the hospital I was home for 2 weeks and could not keep any solid food or even chewable vitamins down so I had to have an endoscopy to reopen the exit to my pouch. Since then I have been great. I had my surgery on October 5th 2004 and it is now November 18th 2004 and I have already lost 47 pounds! I am glad I had this surgery even after all I had to go through to get better. I think it was all worth it! And as for Dr. Ross, I still thing he is a wonderful surgeon who took good care of me.
He was very patient and kind to me. He listened to everything I had to say and made sure that I understood everything about the procedure. To this day, I feel very comfortable with my choice and I truley believe that Dr. Ross will do everything in his power to make my surgery successful! I feel he goes to great lengths with his patients and wants the best possible care and customer service for them. Dr. Ross's office staff also has the patience of angels. I have called there who knows how many times with questions and also checking to see if they have heard anything about my insurance coverage. Every time that I called the staff gave me the feeling like it was my first time calling and that I am no bother. Dr. Ross and his staff continue to tell you throughout everything that the surgery is a tool and after care is very important. You have to do everything that is needed so you do not have complications or get sick. Dr. Ross has a structured aftercare program, I have heard a little about it yesterday (7-26-04), and will learn more after the surgery (8-2-04)in the hospital. I have received a whole 7 section book with everything I will need to know about before, during and after the surgery. They also supplied me with phone numbers on who to contact if I have an emergency. During the first seminar that I attended, Dr. Ross and his nurses let everyone know the risks and complications of the surgery. Every time I saw him or one of his nurses they again emphasized on the risks of everything. I would strongly recommended Dr. Ross to anyone. Once again I am very confident with him and his staff.
