My initial impression of Dr. B has not changed. From the beginning he was realistic, forthright and easy to talk understand. His staff is professional, warm and caring. Dr. B takes time to see that the patient understands what is expected and answers questions willingly. The aftercare program was explained many times and copies of the information were made available in many ways as well. The risks of surgery and complications were met head on, and discussion was encouraged from the initial meeting, through the pre-op visit and at the hospital on the day of surgery. The support group he sponsors is well led, and obviously helpful to the participants. Some of the people in the support group tend to emphasize their abilities to "cheat" the system, but I think that is an individual response, and not a reflection on Dr. B or his staff. The group leader makes efforts to keep the group on a positive track for learning to eat better, take better cae of themselves, etc. Some members jsut tend to hang on to their old ways of thinking! Overall, there is no rating for Dr. B except the BEST.
I was impressed with Br.B he answered all our questions and then some. He did not seem to be in a hurry and seemed to truly care for the person. The office was very helpful and had even spoken with the insurance company while we were there. I had gone to another office in April and they had lost my paperwork and were not much help at all . I give this office a 10 on efficency!
He is wonderful so is his staff. He tells you how and what to expect does not leave anything out. He is a firm believer in fu care, and doing what is right. I would give him and his office staff a 10+. They are willing to work you in if you have problems or thing you do. I had a rash on by back which I thought was major, but to find out it was just from sleeping on my back and being on it so much during and after surgery. They did not make you feel stupid and was very reassuring. He does not talk alot but is very sincere and caring when he does and he is very competent. He even apologizes if he runs late which is nice, I feel he was the best for me but everyone needs to make there own decisions and research for themselves because it is your life after all.........
Realy likable guy, articulate, down to earth, eager to help you understand all aspects of pre-op, and post-op expectations. Wants to know where you are emotionally and expel any false impressions and false expectations but does it with an enthusiasm for his work that makes you realize that he is a consumate professional. I liked him right away, very personable.
I met with Dr Babineau on Sept 26th and found him to be very knowledgable. He made me feel at ease around him right away. He told us, in a group of 6, all the pros and cons of surgery and between him and his staff I decided if anyone was going to do the surgery, it would be him.
His staff is very understanding and will answer any question you have, if they do not know the answer, they will find out. I liked that about them!!
I was turned down by my insurance company the first time around, but after a letter from my primary doctor was approved. I will be setting up a surgery date this week and totally trust Dr Babineau. He is well trained, really listens to you and he is caring. I always go by my gut feeling with people and Dr Babineau scored real high with me.
He's given me all kinds of information on do's and don'ts after surgery. What I can eat and when. Very thorough surgeon. Can you believe it, Im excited about having surgery?? This is not normal for me but that is what trust can do.
*UPDATE* 10 months post op and feeling so good! I did not have any complications after surgery and have not even had a cold yet. He seemed pleased with my weight results and what I was eating. I am a slow loser (and I have witnessed many short people being that too) but I am also physically limited in what exercises I can do too. My scar from open surgery healed and looks great. I trust Dr Babs totally and highly recommend him to anyone considering WLS surgery. Have called his office twice since surgery with minor problems and always received a fast callback and answers.
my first impression of him was that he is a compassionate man and is there to help others succeed in their weight loss adventure. His office staff is very friendly and makes you feel like your are a very special patient to them.I really dont think there was anything i didnt like about him and his office staff. He is understanding and listens to you.Any problems that may occur or questions you may have after your surgery can always be answered because the staff is there to help you through this all.Once Dr.B even returned my call while he was doing surgerys at the hospital and not at his office. That is dedication.
I thought Dr. Babineau was really nice when I first met him, and still do. His office staff was like no other. They were sweet everytime I called them (which was a lot). You don't get that from other places. He was very complete in describing the risks of surgery. He even drew a picture to explain it better. He did send home some papers explaining the aftercare program...what to eat and when and what to take. I would rate him and his office staff a "10". I believe that surgical competence and having a good bedside manner are both great--but if I have to choose, I would definitley choose surgical competence. I didn't have to choose though....
Surgeon was really cool. I always read good things about him. He seem to be very good at his job. I am happy I choice him as a surgeon. He address all issues good and bad. He answered all question to the best of his knowledge. I would rate him on a scale of one to ten, a nine. I haven't had my surgery yet! :) Will let you know after August 11, 2003. August 16,2003... He gets a 10! Great bedside. Visited me everyday. Scheduled to see him at the end of September.
I have heard so many good things about Dr.B and his staff. I can't wait to meet them! 17 days to go!!
8/13/03 Met with Dr.B today, and he was just as people described him, wearing his cowboy boots and scrubbs! He was very informative and his staff was awesome. I think I have found the surgeon right for me! Great man!
He went over every type of gastric bypass surgery that there is, and explained the one's that he does alone. Gave plenty of time to ask questions or express concerns and when the group setting was over. He had one on one time with each patient and went over what he thought was best for each individual. I would say that 1-10 I would give him a 10 because I found nothing negative about him at all. His surgical competence was out of this world, as I am sure his bedside manner is as well.
