Dr Spivak has impressed me from the very first! And my opinion has not changed at all over the last year, he is very knowledgeable and has his patients care and interest as his top priority.

His office staff is usually very supportive

I thought Dr. Spivak was wonderful. Very direct and to the point. Didn't beat around the bush. His staff was so nice. I am so excited. It was a little bit of a drive back and forth to Austin in one day but well worth it.

I attended Dr Spivak's Seminar. He and he staff were very formative. The following week I went for conseltation. He has great bedside manners. His staff seems to very professional. I have a hard time reaching them on the phone sometimes. After my surgery I tried calling two days after I got home from the hospital. Left message on the machine and no one returned any of my messages. Left four messages, four different days, plan on mentioning this when I go to get my staples removed. Called following Monday and got to speak to someone. Mentioned what had happened and they were going to get to this problem right away. I am sure they will. Hope so, anyway. They gave me lots of literature to read about my diet and it has been most helpful. I would recommend anyone to use Dr. Spivak.

I have been very pleased with Dr. Spivak. I feel that he cares about his patients and wants them to be successful. One of the nurses at the hospital said in passing "only the best for Dr. Spivak's patients". This tells me that he expects everyone to treat us with respect and concern. I have friends that he has referred to other surgeons for Gastric Bypass because he didn't feel they were good candidates for Lap-Band. He has made me feel comfortable with calling for any reason and I know he wants me to be successful. I rate him a 10 at this point in time.

Dr. Spivak is very personable and encouraging. I felt very comfortable with him during our first meeting. He seemed to be open ansd up front about the risks and benefits of surgery.

Dr. Spivak's staff have been wonderful with assisting me during my appeals process. I also appreciate the openness about fees and cost of aftercare.

I have not had a negative experience as of yet, and hopefully I won't. Although, I would have liked to have been notified immediately when my first denial letter was received by the office. It would have allowed me to start my appeals process sooner.

A very nice, caring individual. He seems very patient and willing to spend all the time he needs to spend with you to answer all your questions. He was very honest about the pro's and cons of the surgery and also honest in his estimation of what he thinks I should realisticly expect to lose.
He has a slight accent, but I had no trouble whatsoever understanding him or communicating with him.
His office is a little hard to communicate with, as the answering machine is on quite a bit and sometimes it takes the office staff a couple of days to return your call. When you do get a live person, they all are knowlegeble, caring and helpful.
Pre-surgical tests and diet were addressed with some handouts. Aftercare has not been addressed so far.

I met with Dr. Spivak at the end of August. I was thrilled that I was able to get an appointment(and surgery date)at my convenience. I live several hours away and had to be very selective with the appointment date/time for work and travel purposes.
His staff is very busy but always curtious. I think I talked to the ten times the day I got an approval letter!
Dr. Spivak was informative but brief, which a little unsettling at first since I had not attended a seminar. I left his office wondering if he had gotten enough information to "plead my case" with insurance. Sure enough!
This is new territory for me soI am very happy to have found an experienced and confident surgeon.
I was told that I need to return to his office a minimum of four times in the next year (since I don't live in town)and that his staff is always available by e-mail and telephone. So far- they get rave reviews for patient satisfaction!

Dr. Spivak was quick and to the point. He is obviously a busy man and I appreciated him not wasting either of our time discussing things I've already researched or heard at his seminar. He's not there to talk you into this procedure-that is your decision. His staff is great-by the time your post-op you'll feel like they are family. Between Dr Spivak's skills and his staff's courtesy and compassion-you'll feel as if you are in the right hands.

I attended Dr. Spivak's seminar on August 9th and it was very informative. I liked him and he was very patient and answered all questions that were asked of him. My first office visit with him was just 3 days later on August 12th. I really loved... He was so nice and encouraging to me. I scheduled my surgery date that day for Thursday, August 29th. The surgery went fine, except I had a little trouble with gas, but other than that, I went back to work by the following Wednesday.
