I can't say enough good things about Dr. Johnson and my experience with the rest of the Unity staff. From the time I first met with him he made me feel very comfortable, was very open in the discussions about what surgery he felt would be best for me and always willing to listen and respond to my questions.

About a week after surgery I had a day when I slept way too much, didn't get my water in, and ended up with a fever. I wasn't sure specifically what was up at the time and paged Dr. Johnson (the Unity surgeons give you their pager numbers when you leave the hospital). He personally called back and figured it was caused by mild dehydration. I did get scolded a bit for not getting my water in, and after assuring me I would be fine he did follow up to make sure I was back on track.

I now go back and speak at the intro sessions they have for their Post-Op Q&A and see Dr. Johnson on a regular basis. He always takes a moment to say hi and ask how I am doing and has been very encouraging when he found out I am now seeking a career in nutrition. I've met all the doctors at the Unity program and they're all great, but I am very glad I had Dr. Johnson as my personal surgeon.

My first impression was that I didn't really care for him. rnMy impression changed completely and I think that he was a wonderful surgeon and very compassionate. rnThe office staff is alright. rnI can't say anything bad about my surgeon he was wonderful. rnAftercare was very much stressed. rnAftercare is 1 week, 1 month, 3 months 6 months and 1 year. rnMy surgeon went over all of the risks with me before surger in an office visit. rnI would rate him a 8 out of 10. rnBoth are important but I suppose surgical competence is more important as if I died it wouldn't matter how nice he was.

Dr. Johnson was a kind and gentle. The Dr. was waiting in my room after I was discharged and had to be remitted in 24 hrs. This was at 9 pm. The office staff are nice and respectful. I would give him a 10 out of 10. Dr, Johnson was great and really cares about his patients.

My first impression was that Dr Johnson reminded me of Mr Bean! Dr. Johnson also has a fun sense of humor so it wasnt much of a stretch :). He was also my sisters Dr a year prior so I knew I was in good hands. The nurses were great and very supportive but the a few of the office staff could be a bit nicer...the day of my MMPI test, I apparently was taking too long and the woman actually stood out side my door making throat clearing noises and kept interuppting me to tell me I needed to hurry it up as it was five o clock. First of all I had to only redo one part of the test per the pych guy and was given an hour, it was ten minutes to five and she started in on me...I know I like to get out of work on time but that doesnt always happen so chill lady huh? The person answering the phone could be clueless at times....thats all I want to say.

Dr. Johnson was very nice, he made me feel comfortable right away. My husband was with me and any questions we had he answered and seemed to have alot of time for us.rnrnWhen it surgery day, he again came in and talked to me asked if there were any last minute questions we had. He is a very gentle man. I would recommend him to anyone.

Dr. Frederick W. JohnsonrnThe very first moment I met Dr. Johnson I wasrnimpressed with him. I was afraid I wouldrnnot be a candidate for the lap band or anyrnbariatric surgery as I weighed 208# and tornmany I \"appeared\" to not be an acceptablerncandidate. I am 5'2\" and when my BMI wasrncalculated I was 38 plus I have diabetes, hypertension, high colesterol, oeteo-arthritisrnin my knees and hips, etc. Dr. Johnson assuredrnme I am a good candidate for the RNY surgery and as I was concerned as tornwhether he would be able to operate be-rncause of my hernia surgical scar on myrnabdomen between my upper chest tornmy pelvis area. He did talk of the possibility of scar tissue interfering with part of the RNY surgery but that being a problem was rare. rnI am looking forward to my surgery on Aprilrn15, 2008.I think he is excellent and I am very happy to be working with him and Sandy, the Bariatric Nurse Clinician.rnI have been given pamphlets and a bookrn on what to expect for the surgery.rnI am very satisfide and confident that every-rnthing will be good. I am enthusiastic to workrnwith Dr.Johnson and his staff and my nut. Lisa.rnThese are my personal impressions of my own personal experiences with these people and I am making no statements about what other people experience. Barbara

I chose Dr Johnson when I saw he was a part of this group because he had taken my gallbladder out in 1995 and I really like him then. He was and still is very up front about everything and while he doesn't sugar coat things he is not condescending about it either. He is very caring and gives his personal pager number to his patients so I could call him whenever I needed. His staff is just as nice. They are always availible for questions and concerns. They were so through with the prep that I have not needed to call with concerns post op because I knew just what to expect. After care is a requirement and it is very structured. I was asked to sign a contract agreeing to it, which made me a little nervous at first. However, the after care has been looking for and heading off potential problems that I may encounter and has been extremely helpful. Risks of surgery were addressed one on one at my pre op appointment. I would have been happy with a surgically compentent surgeon. As a nurse myself it was important to fele like I was in good hands, but I was very lucky with Dr Johnson as he has both in abundance. He is in my opinion one of the best surgeons I have ever met!
