Farid Elias Bariatric Surgeon M.D.
I liked Dr. Elias the first time I met him. I went to a support group meeting (held monthly) to learn what I could about WLS and get feedback from people who have had it.rnrnDr. Elias addressed questions from newbies as well as those who were post-op 5+ years.rnrnI am still amazed at his compassion and caring. He really does care about his patients.rnBe advised, however, that he tells it like it is.rnHe tells you the risks, doesn't sugar coat anything, doesn't take excuses, and expects you to listen to him explicitly. rnrnOverall, I think he is the best. He is a VERY competent surgeon. I have spoken with many of his patients who claim he saved their lives. My life has changed for the better and I am only 3.5 months out.rnrnHis staff is also very friendly.
Dr. Elias, when I first met him seemed to be a no nonsense type of guy. I met with him first in August 2006 and just had my surgery Jan. 10, 2007. Still the no nonsense type of MD. Do what I say and your will be fine medically and great physically. He also cracked a couple of jokes in the hospital. I felt like ONLY LISTEN TO ME, DON'T LISTEN TO ANYONE ELSE AND YOU'LL DO FINE!
The first impression I had of Dr. Elias, was that he is going to be very strict! But of course this is obviously what I need! The staff was friendly enough, but it was like pulling teeth to get info from them right before surgery? He explained that I would need to listen to him very well as he demands the cooperation of his patients to succeed. He explained the risks of surgery in detail but in a manor that didn't scare me. He has been doing this type of surgery for over 28 years! I think he is a wonderful man and would recomend anyone to go to him, but keep in mind again, very strict! I can't wait to see what his bedside manner will be. Only 7 more days to go!
Dr Elias is a very good doctor. I would recommend him to anyone. He follows up with you every month after surgery for a year then i think it is every 6 months.rnHe does run a GBS support group once a month right in the hospital that he does the surgery in and that is nice too. You can see and talk to others who have had the surgery with him or are considering it.rnOn a scale of 1-10, i would give Dr Elias a 12.rnHe is great all around.
My first impression was that Dr. Elias had a lot of experience and knew what he was talking about. He was very direct and straight-forward and didn't try to minimize the procedure. He has always been this way with me and I appreciate that.rnrnHis office staff is very helpful if you call with a question.rnrnI am 5.5 weeks post-op and Dr. Elias has really stressed the importance of aftercare with him and attending the monthly support group.rnrnI had heard nothing but positive comments about Dr. Elias and would have to agree at this point.
Dr. Elias is a very knowledgeable man. I liked him from the moment I met him. He is very thorough with his examination and even has you take a test to see how much you know about the procedure and life-changing effects this has on the patient.rnHis office staff seem very efficient. He asks that you commit yourself into life-long aftercare visits with him.rn
Dr. Elias is the BOMB (I think he is great)
I have only had one visit with him, but he already feels like an old friend. He answered all my questions and concerns, and even gave me more to think about.
His staff seems quite nice and helpful
As of now I would rate my experience a 10.
I am 4 weeks out from surgery and I love the Dr. he is just a great guy. Everything has been wonderful with him. The surgery went great with his well trained hands and I have had NO problems!! Everybody should be as lucky as me.
My surgeon was very informative, and let me know what he expects as well as what I can expect. The office staff was nice and helpful. Dr. Elias has a program for after the procedure and expects you to be there until he says you dont need to be there all the time (at every meeting). Dr Elias went over all the risk factors as well as the pro's of the procedure. I would recomend this doctor to anyone in my area or surrounding area. I hope to be able to have the surgery before the doctor decides to stop doing them, he says the paperwork is outragious and a lot of the insurance companies are not nice to deal with. He is thinking of not doing the surgeries in the future due to this. This is the experience that I had with Dr. Elias.
