Well I had my consultation with Dr Gonzales Wednesday and he is great. He was very kind and answered all my questions very professionally.and the staff was great. There was not anything i did not like about him. he was very concern about after care and will follow up with my family dr.He explained all the risk of surgery and I appreciated this. overall i rate him as a very competent and caring Dr with whom i feel very comfortable with.

My impression of Dr.Gonzales is a good impression. He made me feel very comfortable and not judged. He looked younger than I thought he would but overall I look forward to having him being my surgeon!

5/26 - My husband and I met Dr. Gonzales in January 01. He was doing open RNY's at that time. Although he had a few LAP RNY's he told me he preferred doing them open. At the time I was only interested in LAP so I decided to stick with having an MGB. I was scheduled for and MGB on 4/11 but it was cancelled.
I decided to go back and see Dr. G because I really liked him. I met with him on April 27th. Both my husband and I are very comfortable with him and we like how accessible he is. He has started doing the Duodenal Switch procedure. He will be doing mine on 6/12. Dr. Gonzales and his staff are great. I attend a support group meeting once a month and Dr. Gonzales attends them and answers any and all questions for all of us. I'll post again after my surgery.

I had my first visit with Dr Gonzales on May 16. He was very direct and told me the pros and cons of this kind of surgery. I know it won't be easy but neither is my life the way it is now. I have enough things that are caused by weight gain that the surgery will fix that I am looking forward to it. The Dr said my surgery is like a big insulin pill and my diabetes will correct itself usually within a week after surgery. THis alone is enough to convince me that this is the right thing to do.

Dr.G is just great. The first time I met him in his office he had a whole packet of info for me. He was very nice, took the time to answer all my questions. So far I still feel he is a very nice guy and his office is ran very smoothly. Everyone on the staff there has been nice to me and put up with me calling every day to see if they had heard from the insurance company yet. I have my physical with him May 30 and I'll be able to give you more info then.

Dr. Gonzales is absolutely amazing. He is very patient and willing to spend as much time as needed to answer all questions. He has been available each time that I have needed to contact him. His staff are all also wonderful. Connie is very helpful and goes out of her way to ensure that we are taken care of.

I met with Doctor G. on Feb.21,2001. I liked him very much he seemed to care a grate deal he also made sure I understood what I was wanting to do would not be a peace of cake that Iwas in for a real chang. My best friend Vickie and Jan had theres done 16 years ago. It worked but in the last few years they have gained it back. They are going back for redo's. I told them doc G told me about vitemens and keeping up with nutrition. They were amazed at how much info I got. The only thing I am upset about is my insurance just got the request today 3-28-2001 but I guss they were bussy. Rebccca Thomson [email protected]

I had my first Consult with Dr. Gonzales on Feb 21st
and Dr. G is a very nice man! Laid back and
he answers all your questions in terms that you
understand! Plus he gives you as you leave e-mail addy's
that you can write too if you have questions that you
forgot to ask, or concerns you just happened to have
later on. I found that I did have a question and I e-mailed
him, and he answered that very same day at 8:30 at night!!
I was very pleased! My surgery day is set for March 13th! I am
having the duodenal switch! Will update again soon!

I met Dr. Gonzales on Friday February 23, 2001. I was impressed with his compassion for my condition. He seemed very genuine and caring. I went in with expectations of receiving RNY gastric bypass, but he felt I was better suited for duodenal switch. I had never heard of it. I thought I had done enough research on the WLS subject, but I guess I hadn't. When I came home from my appointment I immediately got online to find out as much as I could about it. I found plenty and feel Dr. Gonzales is right on the money. Dr. Gonzales office staff was very pleasant and helpful. I was given a huge amount of stuff to bring home to read about surgery, support groups, and diet. They are supposed to be in touch with me Monday or Tuesday about my pre-op and surgery schedule. I would have to say that I left his office believing he somehow had connected with me and my pain. I hope every obese person who is out there searching for someone to be in their corner is as lucky as I. The only thing that I'd like to add is that Dr. Gonzales doesn't accept Medicaid. I am on Medicare and Medicaid because I am on disability. I don't blame him for not accepting Medicaid because Medicaid nor Medicare pays these Doctors what they are worth. They have families and expenses just like the rest of us, yet everything they get from Medicaid and Medicare is pro-rated and they only receive what these insurance plans want to pay them for their work. It's not fair to them or any of us on these plans. I'll let everyone know when I get a date.
