He looks very young, but confident. I liked him after our first conversation. Hes honest and tells you up front about anything good or bad. The girls in the office are great, and sweet. I called and bugged them alot when waiting for my insurance to go threw. The one thing that sticks in my mind about Dr.G is he walk on in the waiting room with me still talking, hes very down to earth.

I'll let you know about the other questions after my surgery takes place.

I thoroughly enjoyed Dr. Gonzales. He answered all of my questions and completely prepared my husband and I with all of the needed information. His office staff
(Amanda and Connie) were great. They were always helpful in assisting me with any needed concerns. Dr. Gonzales really emphasizes aftercare due to it's importance.
So far, I have no regrets or concerns over choosing Dr. Gonzales as my surgeon.

At this time in the approval process, I have not spoken with Dr. Gonzales personally. I have, however, spoken with his office manager, Connie. She has been a great help already and has spent a lot of time with me on the telephone guiding me through the multiple facets of seeking (and ultimately gaining) insurance approval. 09/30/01 I had my consultation last week and was well pleased with the time Dr. Gonzales took with me. He allowed me the opportunity to ask all of my questions and he was very direct and honest with his answers. He looked absolutely exhausted, but he was still focused on me as a potential patient. 11/20/01 Had my surgery with Dr. G on 11/16/01 and all went great! He's a wonderful surgeon, and I know his belief in God has helped me feel much more comfortable with him. He is a great advocate if you have any concerns in the hospital. I just can't say enough about him....and I am doing great and came home yesterday!

Meeting Dr. Gonzalez was a real pleasure! He is bright, caring, fun, person that quickly will tell you the surgeries, their risks and benefits. He is a most caring doctor. He goes over ALL aspects of the surgery and will take time to entertain all of your questions and concerns. He will answer e-mails and is prompt at answering phone calls. We are fortunate to have Dr. Gonzalez in this field. He is such a caring surgeon. The hospital staff all admire him and his dedication to his patients care and well-being. Dr. Gonzalez is a wonderful combination of a kindness, compassion, caring and just plain good folks.

Dr. G's office staff is great! Connie has been SO patient!!! She has faxed and refaxed paperwork that the insurance company swore they never had but mysteriously found!!! Future patients should know that he is getting busy and that there may be a little wait for appointments. But he is worth the wait!

Dr. Gonzalez is very careful to detail the aftercare part of the surgery. He puts it all up-front. There is a wonderful support group that meets once a month at the hospital and we have a group site on Yahoo groups that has been most helpful in many ways. The support group is about a year old now and has really grown. There are the original group and the "newbies" who have lots of questions....it all works well together! It's always lots of fun to see everyone and to gain more knowledge.

I really liked Dr. Gonzales. He was wonderful. Took his time and seemed to really care about me and the things I wanted to know.

It has not changed yet.

His office staff is very nice. They also are very caring and are always ready to help you.

I liked every thing about him.

I am not sure how to answer this right now.

not sure about the aftercare.

I would rate him a 9.5 on a scale from 1-10.

First impression was one of a very caring physician. Over time I still believe he is caring, but I think he lacked knowledge for adequate post op care direction for patients. If it wasnt for the internet a lot of us wouldnt know what the heck to do. The office staff is very courteous and efficient. His nurse lacks teaching skills. I liked his "oh everything is ok" attitude, especially when I had a concern that I thought was very important. He is very accessable though. If you write him an email, he answers within 24hrs. That makes it very convienent if you just have a quick question. Future patients should DO THEIR RESEARCH! Go prepared with lots of questions and ask them. He is more than happy to answer them, but a little slow on volunteering information. The aftercare program is growing. Still needs work. He addresses the risks of surgery mostly in a list of complications that you will have to sign. He does mention some risks verbally. Overall, he is a skilled surgeon that I would go to again. Surgical competence is #1 in my book. bedside manner is just icing on the cake.....for a surgeon.

My inpression of Dr. Gonzales was a very positive one. I had to wait almost an hour past my appt. but he was very apologetic and I still felt he gave me my full appt. time.
We decided together the type of surgery I will have after I asked him questions concerning the different types, complications, what was the EASIEST for HIM, etc. He was up front, we talked about the mortality rate and possible complications.
After he explained that particular surgery: Roux-en-y w/ distal switch (tweener) and drew a picture we talked about what all I needed to do. For instance seeing a Nutrionalist, get a psych evaluation, letters from my family, etc.
His staff was very helpful and friendly and I felt that they all care about their patients.
I found out when I went to my PCP for a pre-surgery consult that he had called her and talked to her about my surgery. That meant a great deal to me. Now my PCP is totally on board and ordered the pre-op tests for me to have at my health care center so they would be covered under my insurance. The surgery and hospital bill will not be covered as I am a self pay and every little bit helps!
I have already recommended Dr. Gonzales to several people who have asked me about this surgery. I am very excited and can't wait til Nov. 29th, 2001!!

My first impression of Dr. G was..."How is this Kid going to operate on me" LoL...He looks so young that you would not and could not imagine he is the Doc! He was kind, very upfront and honest about the surgery and what may and could happen. His staff was helpful, but it was a little impersonal. Dr. G. was just starting off his WLS so I think the first of us may not have gotten as much in the emphasizes on aftercare. Things have change a lot now and I know he has a great aftercare program that is working great. I think everyone thinks their surgeon is the best. I am no different. This man litterally saved my life. Surgical competence is better than bedside manner any day...but guess what???? Dr. Gonzales has BOTH!

I have a date for my first consult. It is Oct. 22.

Went to the support meeting. Was very informative. Dr. Gonzales was there. He seemed to be nice. The psych doctor spoke. Discussion and interaction between everyone was both useful and beneficial for me. I hope to continue going. It definitely is something to go to if you are even considering having this surgery. I was able to ask questions and to hear what people that has gone through with this had to say. The support meeting is an absolute plus in my book.

Had my consult today. Dr. G seems to be a kind and caring man. The office staff consist of Connie and Amanda, they were very nice to me. Dr. G addressed the risks of the surgery as well as the benefits. I still believe that the benefits outweigh the risks. I would rate him a 10 out of a 10.

Dr. Gonzales and his staff have been wonderful. They were very caring and helpful in the process leading up to this decision. He genuinely cares about each and every one of his patients. After contacting SEVERAL surgeons I am totally satisfied with my decision.
