I found Dr. Gonzales to be approachable, caring, and experienced.
His bedside manner and interaction with patients and their families remains one of his strongest assets.
The genuine interest he takes in his patients may be seen by the fact that he is developing a more structured comprehensive program focusing on all aspects of the weight loss process.
I felt Dr. Gonzales was always very concerned about aftercare but his acknowledgement of the importance of mental and nutritional counseling exemplifies his concerns with all aspects of the patients weight loss experience.
The office staff was terrific! Connie helped greatly with all my pre-op, financial, and scheduling questions! I never had to wait more than 10 or 15 min in the waiting room and was often taken in on time.
Dr. Gonzales went over the risks of surgery as well as the different surgery types he offered.
I really liked that he was not a one operation fits all kind of doctor. Overall, I found Dr. Gonzales to be humble, honest and caring.

Dr.GonzalesSpoke very softly and was kind to talk to.He answered every question with patience and expertise. He always has a smile for you to make you feel at ease.He seemed to have much wisdom and knowledge about the surgery. My imprerssion has not changed at all.The staff in his office has been very kind too.I know I worried Connie, but she always had patience with me.They are a great team.Ican't think of anything that I disliked about him or her.I've heard he has a good bedside manner,He will be there to make sure that you are comfortable to whatever your need is.you'll love him. He's great!Ihaven't got to that pat yet,but i'm sure he will be the same way.He explained the presedures of the surgery to me and let me know all the risk involved. How would I rate him?Ithink he's a 10!Both are great.

Younger looking than I expected, brisk but pleasant. Very open and direct. Office staff was very competent and sincere.
There was a lot of emphasis on post -op and after care. I liked that he insisted on my joining a post-op support group.

I had a thousand and 1 questions after I left the office, and all of my e-mails have been promptly and completely answered.

I felt a little rushed, and at 300 pounds I was surprised when he asked me point blank why I wanted the surgery when I wasn't "that fat". I had to take a slow breath and explain my motivation to him. If that was a psychological test, it didn't go over well.

Dr.Gonzales is a very sympathetic & caring surgeon. He put me at ease from the first minute I met him.

His staff is very helpful & caring also.

He attends our Surgery Support Group Meetings; which are held every second Tuesday night of the month at Forsyth Medical Center(basement, meeting room 1), Winston-Salem,NC. Time:7:00pm-8:30pm(or longer!!) Anyone is welcome to attend meetings. Gonzales doesn't have to be your surgeon for you to attend. Pre-ops, post-ops,or just curious??? ALL are welcome to attend!!!! Tell a friend!!!!

He does the Roux-en-Y, & the Doudenal Switch; both open & laporoscopically.

He strongly stresses aftercare; starting at 1 week,6 week,3 month,& every year for life.

Dr. Gonzales is a great physician, in both skill and mannerisms. He is a quiet and soft guy who is incredibly honest about WLS. That is very refreshing. His staff consists of Connie, the office manager. She works very hard to keep him straight and does all the necessary "garbage" the insurance company requires. I feel like God led me to Dr. G for a reason. He treats me like a friend and I can tell him anything. The thing I like best about him is that his first concern is ME and what I need. How many of us can say that about doctors this day in time?

My first impression of Dr. Gonzales was that he was very nice. During my first visit, he was very thorough in explaining the different types of surgery, the probable results from each as well as any side effects I may have as a result of the surgery. There was no sugar coating of anything. He was very informative while being compassionate at the same time. I was very impressed, and continue to be. Dr. Gonzales has my complete confidence. As far as the office staff, they have all been pleasant and I haven't had any problems. Although I have left a few messages that either weren't relayed, or returned - these were concerning my precertification with my Insurance company, but nothing serious.
Overall, I rate Dr. Gonzales very highly. I have heard nothing but good things about him. In fact, my sister in law works for a group of Drs and she asked them about him - they said he "is TOPS"!

Dr. Gonzales was extremely kind and understanding. He took his time and answered any questions I had. I've done my homework so I was prepared. He is young,I even asked his age! That scared me a little. But I checked him out thoroughly. He has plenty of experience with this procedure so I was surprised at just how young he was. His assistant, Connie, is so great! I must have called there a dozen times and she was always there to help me out. Thank you! Dr. Gonzales and his team really have it together.

Dr. gonzales was very helpful with any questions I might of had. He seemed to really want to help me.Not like Dr. rutledge in Durham who i went to first just said I was too heavy for his surgury and never offered to help me in anyway and i finally heard about Gonzales through a friend and He was so nice and understanding. His office staff was great I called several time to see if insurance had approved my surgery and they were always nice to me for bothering them so much.Dr. Gonzales goes through all the risks of surgery and makes sure you understand and will answer any question you have.I think Dr. Gonzales will be a great surgeon.

Dr. Gonzales looks very young. He is very experienced in surgery. He came highly recommended by one of my friends. His office staff is very efficient (considering there are only 2 in the front). Connie is the office manager, and she is wonderful. She works very, very hard!
