He was honest about pros & cons, straight forward. He didn't rush me and made me feel very comfortable. It worried me at first that he wanted to get started with paper work and all that when I was just there for a consultation and hadn't even decided if this was right for me.
While in the hospital, he saw me every day and more if I requested. Since I've been home, any time I call he calls back ASAP! which is really nice(I know he is always busy)and still doesn't rush you off the phone. He is awsome!
I don't know if I've encountered all of his staff. I know Laura is the bomb.(She answers the phone) Some are typical New Yorkers and not so pleasant, but I think he just let some people go recently.
I honestly couldn't say. He has been great!
Feel free to ask him ANY questions, he doesn't make you feel uncomfortable at all.
His dietician has a strict diet we have to follow. I havn't been to my first check up yet.
There are support group meetings every 2 weeks. He has on staff a dietician, pulmanary doc, respitory theropist, psycologist and others. There are all there for after care.
He told me all the risks(which I knew most of) He also told me his personal statistics with complications.

My first impression of dr artuso was that he is a very kind and dedicated professional who really interested and passionate about his feild.
I still have the same impression of him currently.
There is really nothing that I did not like about Dr. Artuso.
Future patients should know that Dr artuso is a true professional.
He stresses aftercare very much so. He says it is of the utmost importance or you can get very sick.
Dr. Artuso does address the risk of surgery and how you can really make yourself sick if you don't follow directions.
Since I have not have surgery yet I cannot comment on this question.
VERY PLEASANT,NICE TO TALK TO, VERY CARING DOCTOR OVERTIME I REALIZE HOW NICE DR ARTUSO AND HIS PATIENT'S LOVE HIM VERY MUCH. HIS STAFF I HAVE MET SO FAR IS VERY NICE THERE IS NOTHING THAT I DON'T LIKE ABOUT DR ARTUSO FUTURE PATIENTS SHOULD KNOW THAT HE A GOOD SURGEON AND A NICE PERSON. I LOVE TO ATTEND THE SUPPORT GROUP I HAVE MET SOME VERY NICE PEOPLE WHO ARE PE-OP AND POST-OP. HE HAS A GOOD AFTERCARE PROGRAM. HE THROUGHLY EXPLAINED THE RISKS AND ANSWERED ALL MY QUESTIONS I RATE DR ARTUSO GREAT!!!SURGICAL COMPETENCE AND BEDSIDE MANNER BOTH ARE VERY IMPORTANT. SINCE MY JOURNEY IS NOT OVER YET I HAVE NOTHING TO COMPLAIN ABOUT IF I DO I WILL UPDATE AND LET EVERYONE KNOW WHAT MY DISSATISFACTION
my first impression of dr. artuso was that he was a friendly person some one to go out of his way for you he mwt with me at 7 in the morning to accmodate me and my schedule
becassue i came from far a way. he was right with me to explain things after surgery and when i did post op he was very helpful and treated me as though i was his only parient. he did not think that i had a stupid question or treat me as though he had someelse waiting. as far as the office staff they are very sufficiant but they do not want to listen to you some times but i
supose that comes with haveing to listen to a lot of people Lauta was very helpful and understanding. heis a really great dr.
his surgicail competance and bedside manner is really great.
it the hospital staff you have to worry about. they are very disorganized.
Hello - Dr Artuso is a very calming doctor...His office staff that I have dealt with so far was Laura (extremely nice phone demeanor) and Lisa (basically a 1 woman show)She is straight and forward and efficient...She can come across as stern - but what medical field receptionist that works alone isn't? Well I made an appt. to see Dr. Artuso on August 19th (I think) and they originally gave me Sept. 8th for the consult... they put me on the wait list (in case of cancellations) for August 25th...Well they called me on August 22nd and asked if I could come in on the 25th still - and boy did I jump up and say - YES!!...Well I went to Dobbs Ferry Hospital today (appt. 12:00)- parking is limited - get there early - From the minute I stepped inside the building I was greeted by smiles....I went into Dr. Artuso's office and there was Lisa sitting alone - .. Well I filled out a pamphlet of questions and before I knew it - I was sitting in a clean and cool examination room..Dr. Artuso is a very warm personable doctor.. he smiles..is thorough and explains anything and everything you need to know - he is aces in my book--I do not do well with doctors so this is a major compliment coming from me.. needless to say I left the examination room with a good feeling about him and my choice of surgery (Adjustable Lap Band).... Oh and another benefit is that all the pre-op testing can be done in 1 day at the same location - No sweating and running from location to location to get all tests done - really convenient - Rita (insurance) is okay, she is not very personable. But is very business-oriented. Gets the job done.
words would never be able to explain the feelings i have about DR.Artuso. he treated me as if i was his only patient and always returned my phone calls no matter what day or time it was. his staff always went above and beyond to help. everything he told me would happen did and i followed his treatment to the letter and never once had any after effects or trouble. Dr. Artuso is a caring and gentile man who does not hold anything back he tells you all the good and bad things that could happen with this operation. i highly recomend him and again i could never thank him enough for the NEW life he gave me.
he runs a support group for not only his patients but any person in the area that would like to attend.
My first impression of Dr. Artuso was at one of his seminars. Very comfortable to talk with.
I met with Dr. Artuso back in September. He was very nice, and explained everything to me about all surgery options.
His staff is very nice. Laura was very approachable, and she was able to go through all the pieces of how the insurance is handled.
I have not had my surgery yet. My comments right now would be to come to one of Dr. Artuso's seminars in Dobbs Ferry. It is a very informative and lively group. It helped alot in the information gathering for me, and deciding on WLS.
