Dr. Smith is all about business. He is very thorough and safe. He is revered in his community, and his reputation is well deserved.
In the hopsital he was there every day, and he is once again very safe.
He strongly emphasizes after care, and he has a great program.
Though I do not have a "personal" relationship with him, I have faith in his ability. I only wish he was a little more personable with his patients...
I had no complications from surgery.
This is the second time I have really checked into surgery. I have been in contact with my insurance company, and there are no surgeons "in-network", so that has me concerned. After calling three offices I was given information on, I have chosen Dr. Smith and his office to have a consultation with. The staff was very nice, and I have heard that he is one of the best laperscopic surgeons in the business. Very direct and soft spoken, tells it like it is and is very concerned with after care. I am waiting for my packet to arrive. I am feeling anxious, and excited right now. I have struggled with my weight for a long time now, and after trying on my own, or with help from Rx diet pills and weight watchers, I believe this to be the only way I will loose the amount of weight I need to. I will update more after I receive my info packet.

I met with Dr Smith 2/28/05. He is wonderful. His staff is terrific, and I would reccommend them to anyone. I waited 2 months to get in to see him, and it was well worth the wait! Theya rea ll caring people, I didn't feel like I was just a number, I felt like they saw me as me. Aftercare is a BIG thing, Supplemential vitamins are a MUST, and this is a tool, not a miracle drug that will make you skinny.... You have to exercise! I am very satisified with my decision. GOD has led me here, and I KNOW I have made the right decision for me.
Good luck to everyone on their journey!!!!
I had a consultation visit with Dr. Dennis C. Smith (09/10/04). During this visit he was very knowledgeable, and attentive to my concerns. He made me feel that he was truly concerned about his patients and that he wanted you to be successful at weight loss.
The entire office staff was patient, knowledgeable , friendly and helpful.
There was nothing that I did not like about Dr. Smith.
My impression of Dr. Smith was that he was an excellent surgeon..very sensitive to the needs and opverall well being of his patients.
Dr. Smith made sure that you receive a very
derailed outline of each phase of the weight loss surgery from the initial consult through the post op visits. He made sure that you were aware of all the possible risks and the weight loss percentages for each of the surgeries that he performs.
I would rate Dr. Smith as excellent in all aspects. I feel that he is very qualified and the bedside manner was an extra.
Dr. Smith is truly the best! I would recommend him to anyone thinking about weight loss surgery.
I researched 3 other doctors programs in the Atlanta area and I believe Dr. Smith is the most comprehensive. He educates every patient on the pros and cons of surgery, you understand the risks and the rewards. You even have to take a test (and pass) before he will proceed with the surgery.
Dr. Smith is a little dry - but he knows his business. I rather have a surgeon that knows what he is doing.
His staff is also the best. From the PA to the receptionist. The entire staff is friendly and caring.
I THOUGHT HE WAS QUIET, BUT SEEMED TO BE A
VERY CARING PERSON. I WILL PROBABLY HAVE MORE OF AN OPINION OF HIM AFTER MY SURGERY, SINCE MY EXPOSURE TO HIM HAS BEEN LIMITED SO FAR. I HAVE AN APPOINTMENT ON WED. FOR A PRE SURGICAL CHECK UP.
HE HAS STRICT GUIDELINES THAT HAVE TO BE ADHERED TO BOTH BEFORE AND AFTER SURGERY. I THINK THIS IS ONLY TO GIVE US THE BEST RESULTS POSSIBLE.
I WAS GIVEN THE RISKS OF SURGERY NOT ONLY BY
DR. SMITH, BUT OVER AND OVER AGAIN IN EVERY
STEP OF THE BEFORE SURGERY PROCESS. I HAVE
NO IRRATIONAL EXPECTATIONS OF WHAT CAN HAPPEN.
DR. SMITH TO DATE GETS A BIG THUMBS UP FROM ME. I WILL HAVE TO COMMENT FURTHER AFTER
MY SURGERY ON HOW HE RATES FROM THERE, BUT I
EXPECT THE SAME PROFESSIONAL, CARING TREATMENT THAT I HAVE RECEIVED SO FAR TO CONTINUE.
IF YOU CAN GET COMPETENCE AND BEDSIDE MANNER BOTH, THAT WOULD BE GREAT, BUT GIVEN A CHOICE, SURGICAL COMPETENCE IS NUMBER ONE. HIS/HER BEDSIDE MANNER WILL NOT SAVE YOUR LIFE!
I had my consult with Dr. Dennis Smith in Woodstock, GA in November 2002. Unfortunately, I did not see him agin until April 2004. Dr. Smith is absolutely the best - yeah, all patients say that about their surgeons...but everybody else is WRONG!! Dr. Smith is caring and KNOWLEDGEABLE...his hands are blessed and I am grateful that I was led to his care.
Dr Smitn is an excellent surgeon and has a great staff that will guide you in the process. Notice I said guide, it is ultimately up to you as to how successful you are. He has great aftercare. I rate him on a scale of 1 - 10 as 10. He is the best.
It is a long and hard journey to be approved by your insurance company. Do not give up be diligent.
I liked Dr. Smith from the first time I met him. He was quiet, and yet very thorough with his initial appointment. He is very safety oriented, and I am SO glad for that. My impression only improved over time. It was really nice to see him smiling at me after surgery, telling me that everything went very routinely, no complications at all! His office staff had to be really patient putting up with all of my phone calls... so I give them AAA **** ratings! Thank you, Deniece, Danielle, Nell, and Eric - PA extraordinaire! Dr. Smith really wants you to know that you will need bloodwork and regular visits for the rest of your life... because there are so many things that can go wrong that we don't automatically know about. I haven't been able to get to his support group yet, since I'm out of the area, but I intend to make it, and have met Sue Wood, his leader, and also the head of the Bariatric Program for the Wellstar Hospital Network. She is FABULOUS! She came to see me in the hospital and is just a doll. I rate this whole experience a 10! (Except for the guys who put in my PICC Line... mutter mutter, that was NOT fun, but they were atleast sympathetic and hey, it's not their fault that the machine didn't work that day.) (The only other downside was that it is a LOOOONNNNNGGGGG process from start to finish. It almost took me a year.) I would prefer surgical competence to bedside manner ANY day... but he has both. He is not overly effusive or talkative, but is friendly and patient.
I really like Dr. Smith and his office staff. He is very knowledgable and thorough. He was very clear as to what would happen during surgery and after. He answered any and all my questions. He seems to really care about his patients. My impression hasn't changed at all. The staff was wonderful... I drove them all crazy over the past year... I know I have called and spoken to Nell at least 50 times. But she has always made me feel like I wasn't bothering her each time I called. I work in the medical field so I know how it can be... Sorry Nell. It takes a while to get an appointment with Dr. Smith. But it is well worth the wait. Once I was approved I had a surgery date within the month. The entire office spoke of aftercare.
Overall I would and have recommended him to some of my patients and friends. I am grateful him and his office staff. They were a tremenous help to me. I would like to have both surgical competence and bedside manner in any physican I go too. And I found this with Dr. Smith. Thanks you guys...
