DR.ROYE WAS VARY EASYGOING, HE EXPLAINED EVERYTHING BEFORE I COULD ASK. HE WANTS THE BEST FOR HIS PATIENTS, YET SOME OF HIS STAFF WERE NOT VERY HELPFUL, THEY DIDN'T GIVE ME ANY INFORMATION ON MY INSURANCE LETTER(HOW LONG IT SHOULD TAKE TO GET A RESPONSE, WHEN IT WILL BE SENT OUT, ETC...)ACTUALLY IT WAS JUST THE ONE STAFF MEMBER. OTHER THAN THAT I DON'T SEE HOW ANYONE WOULD BE UNCOMFORTABLE WITH THIS DR.

My first impression of Dr. Roye was extremely good. He is young, knowledgable, and has a wonderful personality. He is very compassionate and will take time to answer any question that you have. He does not put on the appearance of being in a hurry or that he needs to get you out the door to get to his next patient.

I had done much research on this surgery prior to seeing Dr. Roye; however, he still went over what the surgery was about when I saw him. While waiting to go in for my intitial consultation, I had to fill in an extensive survey on my health, what I knew about the surgery, and my reasons for wanting the surgery. They also gave me literature at that time on what to expect for pre-operative testing, what to expect in the hosptital (from the operating room through to discharge), and what the surgery was all about with the associated risks.

Dr. Roye is very adamant prior to surgery that you must follow up with after-care. I had to see him 10 after discharge, 3 months, 6 months, 9 months, 12 months, 18 months and I think 24 months is that last one. Prior to each visit I have to have complete blood work to ensure that I am not malnourished. There is a monthly group that is free to attend and it is for any patient of any physician who has had the surgery. I have not been to this yet as I utilize the Yahoo club - After Weight Loss Surgery group for support.

The only negative about his office was frustration with one of his staff. She would promise things that would be ready or she woudl have an answer on and not deliver on the promise or follow up with a phone call to tell you that she didn't have an answer.

My final thought is that Dr. Roye was an excellent surgeon both in competence and bedside manner and I would recommend him to anyone else with no hesitation.

I got a good impression of Dr. Roye. He seemed knowledgable about the different types of surgery but prefers to do the R-N-Y. He said he would do the lap R-N-Y for me. He has only been doing the surgery for 2 years, but there aren't many who do it here. I feel confident that I can trust him to take care of me. I have faith that my God won't let me go through this alone. I'm ready. He did address the risks of the procedure.

Dr. Dean Roye was very friendly yet thorough in taking a history from me, while being careful to listen to each and everything i had to say about my weight history, which i found very comforting that he wasn't writing down necessarily just what he wanted to hear. He made me feel as though this obesity problem is not enitirely my fault as society( thin society) have made me and countless others feel over the years. finally i have hope that there is a light at the end of the tunnel. His secretarym was very pleasant and helpful. she seemed to know all about the approval procedure, although my insurance company has been giving them problems with approval they were very upbeat about going to bat for me. i would recommend Dr. Roye to anyone. He also gave me "homework" to take home in the form of a lenghthy pamphlet describing from start to finish the procedure, what happens at the hospital, aftercare program, which includes foloow up visits yearly after the first 24 months of intense aftercare. a very comforting thought.
