My first impression of Dr Roye was very confident. He came into the room and introduced himself and answered every question I had without hesitation. As far as my inpression over time is concerned, it didnt change at all. He was as confident and friendly the day of surgery as he was the day I met him. rnrnDr Royes office staff is very nice however his secretary could use a lesson in compassion sometime. I did pass on my concerns to Dr Roye while I was in the hospital and he was very happy to hear what I had to say b/c he said that if someone doesnt tell him things, he doesnt really know about it. My main issue with his secretary was that my surgery had to be cancelled due to the Dr's wife having a baby. I had to do my bowel prep and was needing to do that around 10-10:30 but was told not to call the office to see what time to be at the hospital until after 11. You would have thought that there would have been proactive calls to the patients scheduled the next day to tell them not to bowel prep, especially considering the drs wife had the baby 3 days earlier. rnrnThere really isnt anything that I can say that I didnt like about Dr Roye. rnrnFuture patients should know that at their first appointment, they will not meet Dr Roye. They meet with his Nurse Practitioner. You will meet with Dr Roye once you are approved by insurance and have completed all the required pre-op testing. rnrnDr Roye emphasizes aftercare greatly. He will tell you once surgery is done that it is up to you and encourages an exercise regimine.rnrnAs far as a structured aftercare program, Dr Roye doesnt really have one. rnrnAt my appointment when I met Dr Roye as well as my initial appointment with his NP, the risks of surgery were addressed and discussed in detail. rnrnOverall I would rate Dr Roye on a scale of 1-10 as a 10. His office staff, probably about a 6 due to his secretary and her poor attitude and lack of compassion. rnrnAs far as Dr Roye's surgical competence and bedside manner, they are both fantastic. I couldnt have asked for a better surgeon. He and his team were great all the way down to his medical students.
My first imnpression of Dr. Roye was one of knowledge. He committs greater than 50 percent of his practice to bariatic patients. His office staff is always willing to help. The one complaint I have about Dr. Roye is that he does not meet with his patients initially. You have to meet with his nurse practitioner first. Then you have to complete all your preop testing. After all that is done and this can take months to complete, you can meet with him. My biggest fear at that point, was \"what if I don't even like him?\" That was not an issue as he is compassionate and knowledgeable. His bariatic practice has a complete follow up program which includes nutrition, support groups, physical therapy, and psychological support. His office also participates in a lot of research programs to learn more about obesity and bariatic surgery.
I LOVE this man! Dr. Roye is my hero! Seriously, I have gone to him for the gastric bypass and then two hernia repairs. He is totally honest and upfront with you. You always know what to expect and what is expected of you. He is by far the absolute best surgeon, ever (I have had 11 surgeries of some kind or another)! His staff is not quite as friendly as he is, the front receptionist is awesome though and that certainly helps if you have to wait in the waiting room. Usually, he is pretty good about not keeping you waiting AND I have never felt rushed with him!
I just met with Dr. Roye today and he has a great personality. He definately does not dance around words, he is straight and to the point, and described everything thoroughly. It was my first meeting but I was quite comfortable. rnEveryone in the office was very pleasant and met me with a smile, not one person may be feel uncomfortable.rnHopefully this was just a taste of things to come.rnMet dr. roye a second time..down 10 lbs...not even trying. That made the doc happy. All my tests came back and the only medical problem they say i have is sleep apnea which should correct itself after i lose weight.rnSurgery is set for 7/19/07
You don't need to look any further. This is the surgeon for you. He kept me well informed of every aspect of the surgery, all the good and all the bad. He is direct and tells you the way it is. His attentiveness before surgery, and especially the aftercare is immeasurable. Not forgetting the most important, his expertise during the surgery. His staff has his same ethics. They are there for you whenever you call, as he is. You are never rushed during your visits to him. I rate him an 11 out of 10
Dr. Roye is wonderful!rnrnI am fortunate to have found a surgeon who is confident, proficient and approachable. He doesn't just \"fill\" for the sake of filling. He puts me at ease and takes the time to educate about this journey.rnrnI find his assistant to be personable & incredibly competent and kind. I don't know how she accomplishes everything that needs to be done.rnrnrnrn
