DR. PROVOST/JONES DID MY MOTHERS SURGERY AND IS THE ONLY SURGEON I WOULD HAVE FOR MINE. THEIR OFFICE STAFF HAS BEEN VERY KIND AND HELPFUL.

Dr. Provost is soft spoken and kind
He doesn't sugar coat anything. Lois
his nurse is wonderful and I give her
full credit for getting my info to
the insurance company in such a timely
fashion and getting my approval in a matter of days. Dr. Provost is a trained
trauma surgeon and I trust my life to
him. Who better to make snap life and
death decisions? Also, he works in conjunction with another bariatric surgeon so you have two for the price of one! He says he wants to be your doctor for ever. and has both a pre-op and post-op support group that meets monthly ( that's two meetings a month for him and his nurse to attend so they are serious about aftercare.) I rate him a 10. I feel I have a down to earth doctor who is also a great surgeon. Another good thing is that Dr. Provost doesn't have a long list of required pre-op testing like a lot of other docs do. I took phen-fen and because I haven't had any problems and nornal blood pressure, etc., he doesn't make patients do stress testing, echocardiograms, etc. He doesn't do a psychological profile either, however if your insurance co. requires it, then you have to do it. No sleep studies, upper GIs, endoscopy. Definately an added bonus.

12-3-01 I am home from surgery and have nothing but praise for Dr. Provost and the entire team. The residents of surgery and anesthesiology were all fantastic with good bedside manner. I thought that as a physician myself, I wouldn't want residents involved. It didn't bother me at all because the care was fantastic. The nurses at Parkland were compassionate and very competent. Overall, a huge success. My only concern is that for the leak test, the radiologist instructed me drink all of the dye I could and me being an overachiever and feeling so good, did just that. I overdid it and was miserable for about 18 hours. I would recommend taking your little measuring cups with you and not drink more than 3 oz. Eventhough, I give my experience a ten. Feel free to email with any questions.

I immediately loved Provost. He does not seem to be in it just for the money. He cares and you know that instantly.

I will be meeting with him on September 27, 2001 for a consultation. I did meet him at his seminar and he was very kind and compassionate. I liked his seminar a lot and the interest that he has in his patients and their care. I will update more after my consultation. A one on one with Dr. Provost and his staff.I also had a consultation on July 6, 2001 at BTC and met Dr. Idhi. He was great and very informative. I think my chances of approval would be better if I use a doctor that is in network. The Bariactric Treatment Center is not in network and it is a long way from where I live.It is in Wylie, Texas. I don't want to be all along when I have surgery because the hospital is in Wylie vs. Parkland Hospital that is in the middle of the metroplex.I had my consult with Dr. Provost and as he explained the procedure and the aftercare program, I decided at that time that I wanted him to do my surgery and we proceeded to get the approval transferred from BTC to Dr. Provost. I have attended his seminars every since my consult and I will contiue with the support groups before and after my surgery. The group of people are just great sharing and caring people. They all support you 100% as you journey to the other side and the communication through email is wonderful. I would rate Dr. Provost and his staff a big 10.

The first time I met Dr.Provost was at his monthly seminar. He was very informative and matter of fact....didn't mince words. On my initial consult, which my husband attended with me, he was still very open with the positives and negatives of the surgery....we found we had something in common, his daughter attends school in the same district in which I teach, that was a good thing to have in common. There was nothing I liked least about him. I understand that he is an excellent doctor with a great track record for patient care.He places great emphasis on following the aftercare in the strictest fashion. So far, he has helped to put me more at ease about having this surgery...I feel very confident in his ability to do this surgery.

I loved Dr. Provost he is so reasuring and seems to be a highly compasionate Doctor, so far my opionon has not changed, and the office staff has been great, I have not had my procedure yet so I don't know what to expect on aftercare, but he did go over the risk of this procedure with me in detail, I would rate him an overall 10.

I met with Dr Provost last week and am awaiting surgery date. I felt comfortable with him and his staff. Plus, quite a few of post op patients were in the waiting room and were very friendly and reassuring. I truly cannot think of anything negative at this time, perhaps after surgery. Right now, I am excited and anxious. All my questions were answered and I know I took a bit longer than time allotted because I had many questions. Nobody seemed impatient.

Dr. Provost has a really great informative meeting for those considering surgery on the 4th Tues of the month at St.Paul Hospital. I met some patients of his that already had the surgery and they all seemed really positive. I suppose they would not show up on a Tues night if they had bad things to say, though. Lois, his nurse is great. She responds to email really quickly, within a day, and it is relatively easy to get her on the phone. David is the guy who deals with insurance and he got me approved the first try, so I think he is great too!

Wonderful...answered every single question I had, even the one's I thought might be foolish. My impression of him over time has gotten stronger. Office staff the tops. Future patients should know he will do everything possible to keep you healthy and in the least amount of pain. As far as the risks, Dr. Provost explained everything that could go wrong and didn't sugarcoat anything. Dr. Provost shoots straight with you. I would rate him, so far, at a 9 bordering on a 10.

UPDATE!!!! 09/02/01

Well.. I had Dr. Provost do my surgery and I could not have made a better choice. I began my journey on March 20, 2001 at 287lbs with a BMI of 44. Here I am, not quite 6 mos. later...I have lost 78 lbs. I now weigh 209 and my BMI is 34. Dr. Provost saved my life. He gave me a new beginning. Instead of lap, he had to do it open, but that did not matter to me. I'm just glad he was there. I will always remember, two mornings after surgery, I am sound asleep, in the hospital, and all of a sudden I woke up with that feeling that I am being watched...Yes, it was Dr. Provost at 3AM!!! Talk about your bedside manner and a caring person. All I can say is thank God for David Provost and his wonderful staff. I now attend all of his meetings, not only the post-op but the pre-op as well. I will always share my success stories with anyone who will listen. Wanna know more? E-MAIL ME..I'll tell you. Dr.Provost was very straight to the point. Wanted to make sure that I knew the pros and cons of surgery.
Dr.Provost staff is wonderful. David-the insurance specialist I had to stay on top of him because I was previously with Dr.Lawrence Barzune but I transferred and had to have the insurance transferred. It seemed like it took forever.....Lois,the RN is wonderful, she is very organized and worked to get me a surgery date for 09/10/01, which is about 3weeks from the date the transfer took effect....(wow)..Lois is very warm and explained to me how much after effect is important and went into detail on aftercare program.
