Dr. Kam performed my VSG on 1/23/12. From the moment I saw him on the day of surgery, I knew I couldn't have been in better hands. Due to scheduling conflicts, I didn't see him after surgery but saw his intern that afternoon, and Dr. Kam came by in the morning both days I was in the hospital. I have been very impressed with his intelligence, candor and bedside manner. He is a positive person who will give you all the information available and assist you in processing it. I live quite a distance from his office and he has gone above and beyond to work with me and my PCP so that I don't have to make as many trips to Traverse City as the normal patient would. The office staff at Grand Traverse Surgery is wonderful to work with, from the beginning with insurance all the way through to post-op and nutrition counseling. I feel very fortunate to have Dr. Kam and his team on my side for this journey.

Dr. Kam is a wonderful doctor. He gives me inspiration to keep working hard. He makes me feel like I have done better than the average person. He is wonderful and listens to everything. He does not make you feel rushed at all. rnrnI am post-op a couple of years now and he still looks forward to hearing from us and seeing how well we are doing.

I was and am still very impressed by Dr. Paul Kemmeter with Grand Health Partners in Grand Health Partners, Grand Rapids, MI.rnrnThough I'm from Jackson, MI, this practice is one of the closest and best centers of excellence (my insurance requires that certification).rnrnI have a long, informative meeting 7/8/09 at the start of my pre-surgery diet. The team operates in an orderly, well-coordinated fashion whose interdisciplinary approach minimizes surgeon contact, though when I wanted to talk with him Dr. Kemmeter called me back within a few days.rnrnSurgical competence is absolutely critical: when its backed by a competent team it can't be beat.rnrnThe only negative is that the pre-surgical screening is so thorough, its VERY frustrating getting approved.

first impression was he knows his stuff, ive only met him once so far so i'll have to write more later, his office staff is excellent theyre a well oiled machine and theyre all pretty light and funny.rnprobably what i liked least is the same thing i like least about all surgeons is sometimes they can seem a little cool.rnfuture patients should know that he's done this alot and he knows what he's doing.rnthe rest i will have to fill in after my surgery.

He doesn't fuck around is the first thing I can say :) He's extremely blunt and good at what he does...I appreciated this :)rnrnI'm very picky when it comes to doctors as I am a bit of a medical challenge but I was very comfortable with Dr. Kam. rnrnHe took his time with a procedure that he didn't have to do for me, but did anyways...for that I appreciate that he actually cared about how he handled me.rnrnI would rate him a 10 out 10...an excellent Dr!

Dr. Kam was wonderful. I saw him in Ypsilanti and, unfortunately, he has since moved to Travers City. I chose Dr. Kam because of the first impression I got from the first seminar I went to. He was very positive and reassuring, he was complete in his explanation of the surgery and the risks, and he encouraged follow up with a support group. After care is very structured with routine visits and frequent labs. I would rate Dr. Kam very high, both in surgical competence and bedside manner, and would recommend him to anyone. I was very dissapointed that I couldn't continue to follow up with him because he moved. I would have to say the only negative thing I experienced was that during my first visit he was very positive about being able to do the lap surgery, however, during my pre-op visit, he was less sure that this could be done by lap and I didn't know until after surgery if my procedure was lap or open. My experience with his staff was at the Barix Center in Ypsi, and they all were very helpful and made me feel like I was the most important person who had ever come to see them, it didn't feel like assembly line medicine at all. I also have nothing but great things to say about he hospital staff. They were knowledgable, empathetic, and caring. And being in a facility that specialized in Bariatric surgery, all of the other clients I met in the hall were there for the same reason.
